Title: Sarah Palin Disinvited, Newt Gingrich In For Major GOP Dinner
Post by: 240 is Back on April 03, 2009, 12:05:47 AM
WASHINGTON -- Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin is out, and former House Speaker Newt Gingrich is in as keynote speaker at a Republican dinner this spring.

Palin, the party's 2008 nominee for vice president, had been slated to address the annual Senate-House Dinner in Washington on June 8. The dinner, sponsored by the House and Senate Republican campaign committees, is one of the GOP's biggest fundraisers.

Palin will be replaced by Gingrich. Both are popular figures with the party's base.

A spokesman for the Senate GOP committee, Brian Walsh, said Palin's team informed the campaign committees that her responsibilities in Alaska prevented her from committing to the speech until the end of the legislative session.

"We completely understand and respect Governor Palin's focus on her official state business; however, there is obviously an enormous amount of planning that goes into this annual event. For that reason, we invited and are honored to have former Speaker Newt Gingrich join us as our speaker," Walsh said in an e-mail.

A spokeswoman for Palin denied that she had ever confirmed her role as a speaker, even though the NRSC and the NRCC issued a joint press release two weeks ago trumpeting her appearance.

"Enthusiasm during a scheduling meeting among SarahPAC members to discuss events that we thought the governor should consider attending was misinterpreted as a confirmation of attendance," Palin spokeswoman Meghan Stapleton said in an e-mail.

A GOP official trashed Palin to Fox News and insisted that her camp wasn't telling the truth. "She was a disaster," the source said. "We had confirmation."

I dont think she was disinvited. She pulled out.She claims she never confirmed. They had posters advertising her appearance,so I doubt they would disinvite her.

Apparently the RNC cared enough to showcase this.  Maybe you can ask them why they care.

yeah, they pulled a loopy-loop on her.  Seems like the move was made to publicly embarass her.

Honestly... a question for everyone... do you know ANYONE who
     1) Thinks palin is the best candidate for 2012, and
     2) Is NOT a highly religious person?

Why does her being in any way religious matter. When the Repubs come back in 2012, are u going to jump on that band wagon as well.

Because of "the base".... "the base"....   you know, what she "energized".

As we saw with the moderates abandoning ship, no one else is going to vote for her.

Why does her being in any way religious matter.

People that defend her - tonymctones, BB, coach -

They're all super religious.  Hell, tony lectures me daily for being on the GB sex board.  I mean, REALLY?  And BB said he can't get past newt's affair 15 years ago, so he'd choose palin over newt.

i was just curious if anyone here knew anyone who thought palin was #1, who wasn't a bible-thumper as well.

first off neither of those has anything to do with the question that i posed 240 and he ran away from just like in the other thread...I never really like palin, i like her as a person but as a vp bad pick said it time and time again...doesnt change the fact that 240 comes on here and starts a stupid ass thread about her daily and lets shit that barry does slide does it?

me posting on YOUR thread a day or two ago about palin

I dont think shes the best candidate but I also dont think shes stupid like you do.I think she should either run for governor again,or run for the senate.I wish the republicans would wake up and put in Ron Paul, they wont.I do think they will finally nominate Romney as he gives them their only chance.Hes the only guy that looks better then Obama, speaks as well[although not as dynamically]and looks presidential.Plus he is very well versed on the economy.

I like Romney.  A few Qs there.  He was anti-gun, pro-illegal for a long time before changing over in 2007.  And he wanted to build two gitmos.  When his lead started to slip, he suddenly couldn't stop giving daily reagan handjobs, defending everything Bush did.

And he did cheat in the debate :(

I think hes a typical politician.Remember Al Gore was pro life for years. These guys[most not all]have no souls or convictions. They believe in what will get them elected at the time.Paul is the only guy that believes in what he says.Actually I think Obama is a true lib ,big government believer.I think he really thinks government should be very large. So,thats two guys.Other then that? Not many.

If the GOP would take time to groom Palin properly, she would enhance any ticket she is on in the future.  But they aren't.  They want a ready made superstar to thrust out there.  It isn't happening for them and they can't see why.

I agree with you on that one, if she was in the senate for a few years i think she would be good to go maybe not as pres but as VP i could see...

Well simply thrusting somebody out there worked for the dems and barry  ;)

barry knew 10 years ago that he'd be running for president in 2008.
He worked 7 years in state senate, 7 years as a constitutional professor, and a term in the US senate focused on foreign relations...

Ten years ago, Palin was running PTA meetings.

So your assessment is incorerct.  obama was running for the last decade.  palin decided 18 months ago to toss her name in.

Obama planned his route.  Everything he did was with the end goal of becoming the POTUS.

Palin simply got plucked from out of nowhere and stuck under the spotlight.  She had no plan. She was along for the ride.  What she is doing now is what Obama really started intensifying his actions with 6 years ago.

Dude, everyone knows the senate was just a planned stepping stone to the white house for obama - HH6 and others here will readily agree.  His goal was to be president.

yes - he lost to rush in 2000 by a bad margin, but was talked about as a potential star thans to his charisma and skin color.
in 2003 he made news by speaking against the iraq war, and everyone knew he'd make an Ill senate run the next year, which he did, and won handily.

obama's been a star for a long time - look up his name on political and other message board going back 6 years - and he was talked about as a frontrunner since 2004 thanks to the keynote speech.

What is your definition of stupid?  Do you equate stupid with low intelligence or different political beliefs from you?
If you define stupid as having a low intelligence.....all signs point to yes with miss Palin.

Unless you think athletes that score so low on SAT/ACT that they're not allowed to play college athletics aren't "stupid," Palin officially has turds for brains because her reputed standardized test scores puts her in this range.
