Title: the truth about personal training
Post by: johnnynoname on April 12, 2009, 03:25:37 AM
i'm gonna get right to it

first, I was working as a personal trainer on and off over the last few years but only persued it Full-time as of January

anyway, I am certified by a very well recognized organization ( i won't name it cuz they don't need their name run through the mud here.....and no! the organization is NOT NAMBLA, you assclowns)

needless to say, i kinda sorta know my shit- actually, I don't remember a fucking thing from my course work and BARELY passed my exam the first time around. But, none the less, I am certified

anyway, here are the truths
feel free to chime in with yours

-Personal trainers do not work in the health business, they don't not work in the fitness business- IT IS A VANITY BUSINESS
please, stop with the ck'ing of blood pressure or finding out what meds a client is on- all clients want one thing- to look like Brad Pitt or Angelina Jolie
-All your clients are either cougars/milfs or gay men.  NO STRAIGHT MAN PAYS FOR PERSONAL TRAINING
-All clients want to bang their trainers/ have masturbated to their trainers
-All Clients are attracted to the fact that someone is telling them what to do i.e.  they are the submissive type/have a submission fetish
-the booksmart Trainers don't survive, being a trainer is about being good looking and ,basically, kicking the shit out of your clients- Why? Because paying for a trainer is spending discretionary income and discretionary income is spent towards "luxury items". Why pay for a luxury item that looks like shit?!

there is alot other truths but i'm drawing some blanks at the moment so i will add some here and there as they come up in my head

Pretty accurate list.

Average client is an overweight woman, 50+ who wants to lose weight. If you think you will get to train all these hot young sluts, you are kidding yourself.  :(

you dont want to know how many self proclaimed certified personal trainers dont know shit were they talk about.

i know the "self proclaimed" type...it is funny that these types are usually black guys...i'm serious

I (and i know i can be making more money independently) am employed by a major, national gym so I go through a vetting process before i got the job so they knew that i was fully qualified first

that aside, I can honestly tell you that I haven't retained that much from my education and basically kick the shit out of my clients.  But, the fact in this matter is this: I'm still certified which gives me the license to do whatever the fuck i want

having a PT cert is like having a driver's license-
When you get a driver's license, you are certified by said state to drive but it doesn't mean that you are exactly a "model" driver.  You choose what kinda driver you will be.  Whether it be a slow driver, a speedster, a defensive driver...whatever.  But the fact of the matter is that you are still certified by the state to drive

just cuz you got a pt cert doesn't mean you have to train people the way they tell you to train in the text book.
Imho, your cert (and again, this is MY opinion) gives you right to train your client HOWEVER you feel, without any questions

yes and no
rich hot sluts (usually, due to daddy's money) always want a "trophy trainer" just to talk to

hey, who am i to stop them from wanting to pay to talk to me.  the money is green either way

btw, that is a saying i use alot.."the money is green"

how many clients have you fucked?

none but only because I worship money more than i do pussy at the moment

My point is i think some people are a bit naive about the industry before commencing work and just assume that it will be hot milfs and young hotties all day.
Like i said, the typical client is just a normal, older woman.

And sleeping with a client, as tempting as it may be, will sooner or later come back and bite you in the arse.....

another truth

-their is a new breed of trainers coming up who aren't atheletes and are using their textbooks as guides to making workouts/diet advice.  it doesn't take a genius to figure out that these types don't last AT ALL.  The best trainers are a combo of LOOKS, BRAVADO AND ARE/WERE GREAT ATHLETES AND TRAIN THEIR CLIENTS LIKE ATHLETES (at least, those clients who want results)

totally unprofessional

my work environment is straight out of a sitcom

put it this way, I carry my playgirl nudes on my Iphone (because i'm a vain narcississt) and my PT manager makes me show them to some of his clients in between their sessions......ALL TRUE, BTW

Which in turns brings up the issue of "looking the part"

You don't have to look like a model or be as massive as a pro bb'er (which would limit your clients anyway), but when you see these trainers who don't even look fit/healthy, you gotta wonder how long they will last.......

That may be your truth as well as a lot of other people's,  but as a trainer of 15 years and a gym owner, I'll say you're way off base as far as making the all ecompassing sweeping statement. I work with a lot of pro athletes, (mostly basketball and tennis), a lot of physical therapy, young athletes, housewives (not milfs), a few milfs, 1 lesbian, and a lot of business professionals who are no where near gay. Bitterness is a sign of failure. Lighten up a bit on the industry you failed in and you may succeed in your next venture.

i'm not bitter and I actually respect your comments as they are those of a true fitness professional

...but, i'm telling you (much like "BEEFYHEAVYWEIGHT" tells of the nasty underside of BB'ing) that their is a underside to Personal training that people should know about

again, you are a true professional

guess what...I'm not....I'm some punk kid who was lucky enough to pass his **** exam (certifying body blanked out to protect them but it has four initials so you can take a couple of guess which one it is), keep up his CEC's and basically makes his clients superset all their movements with some sort of burpee variation which sends there heartrate to fucking moon

EDIT: PS- FUCK YOU

johhny, how is your iphone? im bout to get one

the people who say the iphone is overrated are JEALOUS
it is THE SHIT and worth any early termination fee
I loved sprint but I wanted a Iphone so bad that i didn't mind paying the early termination fee

Personal training is such a wank...

Whatever happened to joining a gym and paying $50 for a personal "program" that you actually follow for 6-8 weeks?

My first gym wouldn't let you get a second "program" until you actually proved that you followed the first one you were given.

Funny thing is people were actually in pretty good shape at that gym! funny that...

Pretty spot on. I would add that having a good personality helps. People aren't gonna pay to spend an hour with a drip.

Real athletes who hire trainers are an exception to the rule as there are very few of them compared to middle-aged women who are your real bread and butter.

There is a demographic for desperate straight men, that will hire the hottest female personal trainers they can find, for the off chance they can score with them. It doesnt happen of course...but I see this a lot. A young hottie, can rake in the dough, if she goes the cocktease route.

M!

Post by: dyslexic on April 12, 2009, 11:43:15 AM
Most clients are MILFs with $$$$$ who need more attention that a newborn baby.

Some are hot, most are not

Very rarely do men want a trainer, if they do, it is only for a short time. MILFs will stay forever, until you kick them to the curb and lock them out of the gym

Young girls come and go, they are so horny they can't hide it. You act like you don't see it, but everyone else in the gym does.

Trainers should be real familiar with what the ceiling in their gym looks like

Some female clients stink so bad you dread seeing them pull up, you are hoping they will miss their appointment so you can run to your car and GTFO of there. You won't even charge them for missing... hell, you may even pay another trainer to take them from you (if possible)

Dont ever, ever, ever, have sex with your clients.

Ever.

They can promise there will be "no strings attatched"

They can promise they dont have  a BF or husband

They can promise they won't stalk you afterwards

They lie.

Personal training can be a lucrative business if you have a reputation for being able to get your clients in shape. Other than that, I can't think of anything else about it that I like.

You sure as hell don't feel like working out after training other people all day.

please, stop with the ck'ing of blood pressure or finding out what meds a client is on- all clients want one thing- to look like Brad Pitt or Angelina Jolie
Why pay for a luxury item that looks like shit?!

there is alot other truths but i'm drawing some blanks at the moment so i will add some here and there as they come up in my head

based on my gym i agree with all except for this, most of the trainers at my gym are completely average looking

i don't think their smart either because they don't teach the clients how to properly lift weights, i think the clients may like that their trainer looks normal, makes them less intimidating

i'm gonna get right to it

first, I was working as a personal trainer on and off over the last few years but only persued it Full-time as of January

anyway, I am certified by a very well recognized organization ( i won't name it cuz they don't need their name run through the mud here.....and no! the organization is NOT NAMBLA, you assclowns)

needless to say, i kinda sorta know my shit- actually, I don't remember a fucking thing from my course work and BARELY passed my exam the first time around. But, none the less, I am certified

anyway, here are the truths

ok, i'll bite. i don't know what kinky place you work at. but, i paid for a PT and i'm straight. It was because i was a noobie, and didn't know a lot about lifting. Plus my motivation sucked. The only lifting i did before was years before in high school for sports. Anyway, i had a pt for about 6-9 months. And being lifting by myself over a ?year and a half? now. Still learning, a lot of people here got more experience in this lifting game then i do.  yip yip

is that shirt always that tight, or did you just take a shower while wearing that ?

always that tight

it is the SHIT, no?

95% Personal trainers are PAID FRIENDS. Like hookers. thats all. Sure you do get some trainers that actually know what they are doing, but nowadays its a "get rich scheme"

qft
i think alot of new trainers need to realize that THEY ARE prostitutes and to think outside of the box
it has NOTHING to do with training/knowledge and everything to do with looks/personality, imho

You sure as hell don't feel like working out after training other people all day.

you did, i take it :D

what happened?

i think the mentality of an aveage girl/milf/gay would be seeking attention , which they dont get it elsewhere, so that 1 hour or less, with a personal trainer that individual opens up, i have seen trainers getting fired from the gym just for touching the clients for which they complain to the manager, but having sex with your client is completely unprofessional, its all about student teacher relationship, initially even i used to think "wow these trainers get all the hot bitches" but i have come accross people who are really athlete trainers who make it more realistic, glam trainers are more worst in shape than a average gym rat,but making more money by just making them lift pink dumbells on a swiss ball.
