this is the best i can do, it was hard to take these pics and not have my arm block the camera, this was on my laptop. i have never dieted before in life , i know shirtless full body pics would be best but i assume you guys can roughly tell how much fat i need to lose to get down to say, 10-11%bf. right now i am assuming 20lbs. i can suck in my stomach and have no gut.
-
hard to say, you should post a full bodyshot.
from this pics, 20-30lbs
-
till theres a good outline of abbs visible. midsection has to look powerfull, that also means you dont have to be shredded overthere. but the midsection absolutely make or break the physique, how often you dont see guys on the beach with nice arms and chest but a wide waist without abbs. the skinny tit with abbs walking around with a beachball looks hundred times better.
-
to get to 10%, i would say like 20 pounds
you lose 40 and you will give me a run for my money
you lose 50 and i'm gonna start sticking my finger down my throat
-
40 pounds at least. Need a clear upper body shot.

Agreed. Somewhere between 40 - 50 lb.
P.S: Adonis will most likely say 120 lb ;D

i hold most all my fat in my midsection, best i can say for now, it would be impossible for me to take full body pic. i seriously hope it is not 30lbs i have to lose to get to 10-11%, that would be losing like 13-15% bodyfat.i didnt think i am over 20%bf

To get abs you need to lose at least 40 pounds. You are at least 20% bf, pushing 25%. The arm pic you posted has a lot of FAT on it. You have NO leg definiton either.
Part of wanting to get lean is not being DELUSIONAL about that amount fat you hold.
You didn't post a topless pic because you most likely have a lot of chest fat - manboobs.
-

You are assuming all you would lose is fat. You would also LOSE muscle.

no i have no manboobs at all i am not a fat whale dude, take my word for it. and my arm is not fat it's just not defined like at low bf.i just cannot take a pic from far away because i have to press my keyboard on my laptop. my fat is mainly in my stomach you are right I don't have definition in my legs at all. I figured I am about 20%BF. you can see abs at 10-11%? i just want to get fairly lean, not contest shape
-

How heavy are you now and how tall? You are assuming that you only need to drop 20 lb to get under 10%, but you look like you are carrying a fair bit of bodyfat - you have absolutely no definition and based on your pics, it looks like you are sitting around 20 - 22% bodyfat. And as BigIronPete says, you will also drop a fair bit of water and lose muscle when you finally get to 10%.
So yeah, I'd say you have around 45 lb to lose, to get that lean.
-

You took the arm pic with a camera phone. Use that to take a shirtless pic.

He doesn't have any real muscle either. No muscle maturity so when he drops the fat a lot of muscle will go.

just lose 20 and work on the tan
TADA

no it costs me money to send to my email and is too much hassle. when my roomate gets home i may have him take a pic for me from my laptop

that's bullshit, my muscle is solid, from over 4 years training, albeit i just started training again 6 months ago after 1 year off.. theres no way you can tell i don't have any real muscle
-
about 10kg probably

i am 230 and 6 feet tall. i know i will lose muscle too, i figure i would be at about 200 by the end of diet,no i have no definition i am smooth as a baby.
-
i am taking some anavar a friend gave me,80mg daily. he said it helps burn fat on teh stomach and preserve muscle
anavar can be a bitch on your libido if you're unlucky though

I agree. Stormspirit, I'm not trying to flame you or anything - just giving you my opinion. If you are 230 lb now, that's you at around 22% bodyfat. So losing 12% implies losing about 25 - 30 lb of fat alone. Then you'll lose about 8 - 10 lb of water and about 12 - 15 lb of muscle, which is what I suggested in my post earlier.

This guy lost 14 kg and he's leaner at his start than what you wish to be. So I do think you will end up somewhere around 180 at 10%. I'm also curious to see what others have to say on the subject.
-
fuck getting lean, go for this physique

I agree. Stormspirit, I'm not trying to flame you or anything - just giving you my opinion. If you are 230 lb now, that's you at around 22% bodyfat. So losing 12% implies losing about 28 lb of fat alone. Then you'll lose about 8 - 10 lb of water and about 12 - 15 lb of muscle, which is what I suggested in my post earlier.

you think your muscle starts wasting away like even from higher BF? from what ive read getting those last few pounds or %s of BF is when your muscle starts wasting away a lot...i dont want to get into contest shape, id be happy with his first or second picture. oh well, how long realistically do you think it will take for me to get to around 11-12% bf? i am eating about 1500-1800 calories a day and doing about 3 hours of cardio a week

With not a vein in site or any evidence of one even being in the forearm and the obvious blubber hanging off your torso, easily 50-70 lbs needs to be lost. I can refine that a bit with some better photos, but know that 50 is your minimum.

just to get to 11-12%? wow. i do have a couple visible veins on forearm especially when training. how long realistically do you think it will take me?

2 to 3lbs a week
so you prob need about 12 to 15 weeks steady dieting

sounds good...i was hoping quicker than that. i wanted to cut down then bulk for at least a month cause i have a big event to go to in mid july.
hahahaha
that would mean my contest shape would be about 130lbs at 6 feet tall :-\
-
Not too long.
is 8 weeks doable?
-
No way to tell from these pics. I wouldn't expect to end up anywhere above 160lbs though.

if my weight at 11%bf would be 160lbs, then my contest shape must be like, 125-140lbs@6 feet tall. i was about 10% bf at 155lbs when i played football at 15 yrs old,so i doubt that...i do have a decent amount of muscle

10% is a flexible term. Well, just do it and see where you end up. It's the only way you can really find out. The first cut is always a humbling experience.

hahahaha, Jay cutler has no evidence of a vein in his forearms when hes standing on mr.olympia stage. vascularity is largely genetic.

Storm build some more muscle before you cut...

i have muscle, gaining muscle is easy for me. ill bulk after im done cutting

I would say about 30.

10% is quite ripped.
I think 40 lbs at the very least.

Bad idea, you are in danger of falling into the permabulker category. Section 8, paragraph 4 of the getbig handbook states that one characteristic of a permabulker is that they are already planning their next "bulk" when they still have a long long way to go on their cut.
Honestly bro if you have been lifting for a while you should already have some muscle under the flub. Just work on cutting and what muscle you do have will look ten times better. You do not have time to fully cut, then bulk, and then diet for your July event. Even if you were on a lot of steroids that would be very difficult. So my advices to you would be to just focus on your cutting thru July, and after you hit your ideal point of leaness then do a bulk if you want but don't go overboard. Set a limit like you won't put on more than 15lbs, and if you exceed that you will immediately start dieting. You don't have to put on 30-40 lbs of fat to gain muscle, the pros do because they are on lots of gear and are lazy.
Hope I was helpful, cuz I usually don't make this long of replies.

I am hoping to reach 140lbs and be at my goal...that being generous. Since I have only fat and no muscles I guess even 120lbs would be ok.

probably only lose 1lbs of fat a week, 2 at the very most (note: 1lb of fat, not 1lb of weight) and will take longer than 15 weeks. yip yip

thanks dude....i actually have always kept fairly lean and always eat clean, but this winter i ate all kinds of shit, anything I wanted and got fat. I am not going to let myself get so out of shape again.

i think i can do 2lbs fat a week on my diet and cardio program easy, with about 1500 calorie deficit per day, i do not really care about losing muscle i just want to cut the fat quic as possible so i can start with clean slate
nothing like good wake up call!
i wasn't under any illusion i was in shape mate! i know for a fact i do not need to lose 70lbs to get to 11%bf though, that is BS exaggeration.
if you're 230 you'll start looking good at 210 and you''l be what can be considered "ripped" to normal people at 200.
that's good to hear,to be honest I am not even sure what 10-11%bf looks like, maybe i don't even need to get down that low to achieve what i want. i want to lean out my face and get rid of the blubber on my stomach.
anyway thanks for all the replies, i got my answer now. ill post up some pics in a couple months, i shoudl be pretty lean by then.

let's address the more important aspects of that photo:
1. do you shop at wiggers'r'us? what's with the ecko and hilfiger?
2. why do you have a world war II stove chimney poking out of your wall?
3. why do you have a clothesline and clothes hangers in your living room?

1) marshalls ;D they have cheap as shit there, cause its all the last years stuff. sometimes i will shop on ebay too
2)live in a shitty old apartment that used to be a boarding house, that pipe comes off the heater

yes, marshalls indeed. my wife always wants me to buy clothes there cuz according to her "you ruin every shirt after wearing it once". it's not my fault that on the day i buy a new shirt, it's mcdonalds day (every day) and i get ketchup and grease stains over it.

they have all name brands at mashalls, its not shitty clothes like they have at walmart(i heard they get some defect clothes though also). sometimes all the best stuff is already taken though, depends on the day, tj max is also another good store. i went to macy's the other day and polo shirts cost like 75 or 85 bucks,i just left, screw that. they are like 20 bucks at marshalls,i don't care whether its this years or last years line they look the same.
-
what state do you live in?
i think you mean the tj maxx outlet store, cuz the regular tj maxx is a macy's type store, not the cheapest.

im honestly not sure but it is the same type of store as marshalls, massachusetts

Honestly, you don't have love handles so probably only need to lose 15-20 lbs to get clear visible abs I would imagine.

You were given plenty of REALISTIC advice here, however, you CHOSE the answer that least bruised your ego, which I'd say means your not very serious.
Seriously delusional perhaps, but not serious. The majority here is right, IF you're 230 (from the looks of those pics) you're between 22 and 30 percent bodyfat at least. I don't think you know how lean 10 percent looks.
Just to keep it realistic, in those pics you look like an untrained, sedentary and overweight male, I think you have this idea that you're just a couple weeks from looking like Arnold (who was only 235 lbs).
You need to be MUCH more realistic with yourself.
-

i have muscle dude, my physique looks nothing like a fat sedentary overweight male, maybe in those pics in a black shirt hunched over my laptop. i look like a bodybuilder in an out of my shirt. i am not delusional about this, and im not delusional about how im going to look either, i just know i dont need to lose 70lbs and i am defenitly not 30% bodyfat, no way in hell. im just going to diet and see where that takes me. thanks for the advice though, i am going to get some better pics soon

i guess i will have to get some new pics up then without a shirt on...these pics were intended to showcase my stomach, not my body.

You have a long way ahead of you when it comes to dieting. Starting out losing 2 - 3 pounds per week = stupid when considering how long you need to diet.
-
1500 calorie defecit per day = 3lbs fat loss per week.
-

70 lb is just ridiculous. Even if you are going to compete, you could do it weighing around 175 - 180, so I'd say what you need to lose is closer to 45 lb. And another thing - don't make the mistake of getting fixated on achieving a number. A number doesn't mean anything - one person at 10% won't look exactly as lean as another at the same level of bodyfat. So go by the mirror. Unless you are competing, there is no point in getting super lean, especially if you have the kind of body that isn't naturally that way.
-

thanks dude, no i wont be going by the scale..i do think i am probably dieting incorrectly, i started at 240lbs and looked noticeably bigger muscle wise, now i am 10lbs lighter but stomach the same and smaller muscle..started some var and going to just do the same diet from here, 1600-1800 cals a day+cardio, don't really care about losing muscle, ill gain it back....
will update my progress one i get some noticeable results
-
1500 calorie defecit per day = screwed up metabolism
fixed :D
-
If you keep hitting the weights hard, clean up the diet real good, and do your cardio religiously... drop the alcohol, and add some juicy juice....
I'd say 25lbs. will get you to a place you might wanna hang for a while (10-12%) while you put on some SOLID gains.
After you hold on for a while, make some more gains and drop the bf another couple, two, three percent.
Keep a daily record of what you eat, what you do in your workout, and try to estimate your caloric intake along with exercise/activity output.
Get a bodyfat scale that shows progress. It may not test you at your exact levels, but it will show if you are gaining muscle, losing fat, gaining fat, gaining muscle, or worse case scenario: Gaining fat and losing muscle.
-
This thread is hardcore.
-
Your stomach doesn't look all that fat, probably due to the combo of having a small bellybutton and pants pulled up high.
Throw out your scale.
Cardio upon waking
Cardio after training
Train legs 3 times per week.
In 3-4 months you will look much better.
Good luck man.
-
haha reading this thread we are like a bunch of girls obsesserizing over out weight
just drink beer and eat steak, stop worrying about your "lovehandles" and if your butt is too big ;D
