Mostly low.  The number of illiterate college grads in America is staggering.  An American degree is suitable for puppy training.

Im reading this book right now ''No Angel''
''A wild ride to the dark side.  Jay Dobyns roars through the gritty underworld of organized crime that you never see in TV cop shows or read in the newspaper. He reveals the true, violent face of outlaw bikers – but also the tortured souls of the undercover cops who dare to infiltrate them.”

I mostly read scientific books and journals, also guitar magazines, and I can't remember the last time I switched my TV on...

There's a quote from a german filmmaker (Werner Herzog) that goes like this: "those who read own the world, and those who watch television lose it."... and I think it's true... wish there was a better education standard across the world and I also hope that one day all the money that goes to military research and arms industry will be spent on education and research for things that really serves all the human being instead of privileging few and destroying others.

I'm a firm believer that you are born smart and are either a smart or stupid person, education can help cultivate intelligence but it cannot and doesn't make you intelligent.

Bush read 95 books in 2006.  Contrary to popular opinion, he was more apt to read one than burn one.

Also, Hitler read extensively and amassed a respectable library.  I think he burned a lot, though.   :(

Oh, and American Universities are still the best in the world overall.  Very little debate in that.

I only read one book in the last 3 years, it was the "Treasury of the True Dharma Eye" (the Shobogenzo, written 1231-1253 by Dogen) in the original classical chinese version.

what if the books are full of propaganda and mind programing that you didn't know about. 100 books per year would make you royally fucked...

that question came as a surprise from someone who reads >100 books a year... ???

Well, let's examine the dynamics of this "suprise".  We shall begin by reviewing the initial sentence from whence came the initial dilemma:

"Very good unis in the states."

First, this fragment lacks a verb phrase.  It is, therefore, not a sentence.  Now let us look at this fragment of a word, "unis".  "Uni" in and of itself is a lowbrow abbreveation of the word "university".  The lower classes of The United Kingdom, -those who cannot count themselves amongst the Illuminati- favour this sort of dialect.  I, then, am not comfortable with the fragment "uni".  Now, to pluralize the word fragment, and insert it into verbless cluster of words ultimately causes more confusion.  As a University Graduate, I cannot accept the grunts and groans of the hairy knuckled common man as legitimate discourse.

You're all right Ironneck. People need to understand that when the shit hits the fan, and the world dials 911, America is on the other end of the line. Tony Blair summed it up best: " Only two people ever gave their life to help the world, Jesus Christ and the American soldier."

The world wants to bitch about the U.S., then hide under Lady Liberty's skirt when times get tough.

Mostly low.  The number of illiterate college grads in America is staggering.  An American degree is suitable for puppy training.

The "intellectuals" read Baigent, that's the guy Dan Brown stole from.

I have his nonsense book "The Jesus Papers" and i was lmao at how dumb this guy is.

I met this guy 1978 in Jerusalem, he had some original photographs of Jesus from the Year 33, but he couldn't show me in the restaurant. He told me he will sell them to me for 10.000$$, but when i came back from the bank he had been kidnapped by some Vatican secret agents.

kind of stuff like this.

Marketing for what?

Michael Baigent lives of his pseudo-scientific crap, and i can't even blaim him. If i could earn good money and sell books that are made into blockbuster by telling you that the Chinese Wall was build by american time travellers from the 22nd Century to prevent the chinese to export their stuff into the American-European Republic of Russia i would gladly do so.  ;D ;D

Sorry.

Deicide basically said that compared to Julius Caesar i.e., we know very little about Jesus.

He is right on that, there are people that are much older and we know more about them. What we know about Jesus is basically stuff that was written 50 to 100 years after his death, if he ever existed that is.

The bibal mentioned Babylon before it was descovered in modern times.. King Solomon, Pontius Pilot and some others also mentioned in the bible where actual historical people, so maybe Jesus did exist, I cant imagine a huge group of people all of a sudden following some dudes teachings that didnt even exist.

While that may be true, you will still be labeled a dumbass, devoid of any intelligence.

By your rationale and set of standards, this fellow is not only better than you, but you aspire to be as he is, without a care to knowledge.

Good luck on your pursuit of shiny objects and willfull ignorance.

you've already posted this.  And isn't the pursuit of shiny objects and willful ignorance while being stupid truly "the American way"?  It's just that what i'm pursuing (shiny objects) is a little different than what you're pursuing (race dogs, old cars, "knowledge"), but good luck finding 1/10th of what you're after anywhere outside the US , no matter what your intelligence level.

What is your motivation behind what you seek and will you attain your goal when X number of things are bought or has technology and pop culture created an environment that has restricted any limitation to your desires?

nice car, nice house, money for kids education so they don't have to fuck with student debt like me, and enough money to sustain us as a family for the rest of our lives without me waking up in a cold sweat at night worrying about how to put food on the table.

Nice car and nice house are at the bottom of that list.

Once the "priorities" are taken care of, then it's just a dick measuring contest for me vs everyone else.  I'm sorry i'm a disappointing human being to you for wanting to be better than others.

G

Op ‘n berg in die nag,

Lê ons in donker en wag,

G                          Em

D                   G

‘n Streepsak en reën kleef teen my,

G

En my huis en my plaas,

D               G

diep binne my…

G

De la Rey, De la Rey,

Sal jy die boere kom lei

De la Rey, De la Rey,

D

Generaal, Generaal,

C                D               G

Soos een man sal ons om jou val

Generaal De la Rey

G

Em

Op ‘n perd kom hy aan…

G                    D              G

Die leeu… van die Wes-Transvaal,

G            Em                C

Want my vrou en my kind

G

G

op sal staan,

G

Generaal, Generaal…

Sal jy die boere kom haal

De la Rey, De la Rey,

D

Generaal, Generaal,

C                D               G

Soos een man sal ons om jou val

Generaal De la Rey

Great song!

You probably do make a good little obedient worker as you don`t place a high value on intelligence or the pursuit of your desires, just the end result, satiated like a dumb animal when it gets its prize.

I have to ask, do the bulk of your prizes require a coveter separate from yourself?  For some, like Soulja Boy, having a Lamborghini only becomes valuable as long as others know that he has it and he can create a sense of envy, thus boosting his own supposed self-importance.  For him, the object is not what he craves, but the emotions he can create WITH the object in of itself.  Whereas, Jay Leno appreciates the art form, history, pursuit and the culture regarding automobiles and would gain the benefit of his desire even if nobody knew what he had.

So which one are you more geared towards and if it is split, which side do you fall more so on?
