that question came as a surprise from someone who reads >100 books a year... ???

Well, let's examine the dynamics of this "suprise".  We shall begin by reviewing the initial sentence from whence came the initial dilemma:

"Very good unis in the states."

First, this fragment lacks a verb phrase.  It is, therefore, not a sentence.  Now let us look at this fragment of a word, "unis".  "Uni" in and of itself is a lowbrow abbreveation of the word "university".  The lower classes of The United Kingdom, -those who cannot count themselves amongst the Illuminati- favour this sort of dialect.  I, then, am not comfortable with the fragment "uni".  Now, to pluralize the word fragment, and insert it into verbless cluster of words ultimately causes more confusion.  As a University Graduate, I cannot accept the grunts and groans of the hairy knuckled common man as legitimate discourse.

Actually, it was tennis. Just calling you out for your book snobbery. Whatever makes you feel self-important is alright by me, but don't think someone won't call you on it.  ;)

I'm not sure what you are trying to achieve.  You obviously feel a need to adopt a defensive posture.  It seems as though I've struck a chord that resonates with you.

I have to reply to this even though I am on break right now; retarded. Well educated Brits say it all the time. Just an abbreviation and obvious in meaning. I assume you are Canadian since you employ American orthography as well as British whilst criticising Americans. Canadians seem to employ both types of spelling. OR...you are just some bad gimmik. So, I repeat. What nationality are you?
I hate the State.

You're all right Ironneck. People need to understand that when the shit hits the fan, and the world dials 911, America is on the other end of the line. Tony Blair summed it up best: " Only two people ever gave their life to help the world, Jesus Christ and the American soldier."

The world wants to bitch about the U.S., then hide under Lady Liberty's skirt when times get tough.

Mostly low.  The number of illiterate college grads in America is staggering.  An American degree is suitable for puppy training.

This, coming from someone who would reject a life-saving blood transfusion, even if he were about to die of exsanguination, just because it might piss off an invisible man in the sky.  ::)

The "intellectuals" read Baigent, that's the guy Dan Brown stole from.

I have his nonsense book "The Jesus Papers" and i was lmao at how dumb this guy is.

I met this guy 1978 in Jerusalem, he had some original photographs of Jesus from the Year 33, but he couldn't show me in the restaurant. He told me he will sell them to me for 10.000$$, but when i came back from the bank he had been kidnapped by some Vatican secret agents.

kind of stuff like this.
LMAO.
