Kind of harsh considering his doctor prescribed it for legit medical use.
It's ridiculous that his own doctor can't prescribe medication without violating MLB's drug policy.
It's a personal issue........not a steroid issue.

Sad.

There is nothing "sad" about it. The guy got pinched using 'roids, these athletes are told very clearly what they can and cannot use by MLB so the whole "my doctor gave it to me for a medical thing" is just so fucking retarded its an insult.
Its these high profile athletes that fuck up our ability to get real, HG gear for a good price. If it weren't for A-Rod and Clemens and Manny, Congress wouldn't give a shit (like they didn't give a shit in the 80's), and the average guy could get good clean gear with no problems. They fuck it up for the rest of us and once you decide to become a pro athlete you follow the fucking rules about drug use.
If someone paid me 25 million a year to stay clean, I'd stay fucking clean. So fuck him and the rest of them. I hope they test the shit out of them all and get steroid use out of professional sports and back into the gym for us average guys that Congress doesn't give a frog's fat ass about. Plus Manny is a douche anyway.

since when is HCG a "ROID"?
that artical is full of errors in facts.

Its an ancillary that no grown man would use if he were not coming off a steroid cycle. Lets be real dude, he was taking steroids and that is why he was using hcg, we're not in a court of law here. It was clearly laid out by the league that hcg is BANNED from use. They did this b/c they know that its a part of a steroid protocol to use hcg with a cycle or after a cycle. He knew this when his "doctor" prescribed it to him for this mysterious "condition" he had.

I'm not trying to be a dick, but if you understood the reality of the widespread use in pro sports you would understand that, unless you have all pro natural genetics, you are at a disadvantage by not using.....you will lose your 25 million.

i think the punishment was a bit harsh...i mean they didnt find steroids in his system...just another situation for the liberal media to blow out of proportion
-
na screw them they get paid a lot of cash so they need to follow the rules with all that money they should spend more time and money on legal supps and train their ass off instead of snorting cocain with strippers

Many men his age use it.
HCG has many uses in medicine.
True it's banned, but maybe he wants to bang his wife 3 times a day?

Agreed. The MLB is a joke anyway. And pretty much all athletes are enhanced. Even golfers and tennis fags are juicing and getting surgery for their eyes and shit.
-
Just saw that on the news tonight too...ridiculous... what's next? guys are gonna be getting suspended for using tribulus ?!
-
the liberal media?
how do you associate anti-steroid news with liberals?
???
I was wondering the same thing? This new term I keep hearing the "liberal media" is a joke, WTF does it mean? What would the Conservative media cover...news about the Pope, religion, the war on terror or about how awful same sex marriage is? If anything it is the conservative "media" who makes such a big deal about steroids in pro sports....who cares?
I hate pro sports and the people who idolize these morons who make 25 million a year. These fans know everything about these guys and live vicariously through them. As long as these "fans" keep paying to see these people play a meaningless game the players will keep getting richer and the fans poorer. They must laugh their asses off every night all the way to the bank.

Many men his age use it? That is simply not true. It's a FEMALE FERTILITY DRUG. Fifteen years ago virtually nobody in the sports world or the gym even knew what the stuff was. I have never seen a man use hcg or known of or read about a man using it for legitimate purposes outside of steroid use. Many men his age that are steroid-free DO NOT USE HCG. That is a crock of shit.
Never-the-less, these guys have a list of substances that are specifically banned that they can refer to at any time. They also have WORLD CLASS DOCTORS working for each team, so why would he go outside of the teams' docs for this hormone issue? Its all so fucking silly, he obviously juiced. Its like listening to OJ Simpson talking about how he is hiring a private detective to find his wife's real killer.

No, it's in the rule book so he shouldn't have used it. Manny should have known better & should have discussed this seriously with his doctor. He's completely at fault here.

The guy's a tool. The whole Anti-Steroid bullshit started with COnservative Bushy when he called out steroids in his State of the Union address. Fuck Bush and Fuck Bush again.

um, you need to read more. Its commonly used in men with infertility problems in place of LH. its also used as an adjunct therapy for legitimate hypogonadism.
Also, does it say anywhere who or where this doctor was?
Personaly, I think baseball needs to quit this shit and hang Selig from a high tree. I want to see players smack homeruns. They are making millions for nothing now. This soap opera crap is killing the sport for me.

You obviously have some issues you need to take care of.
And again you are incorrect.

no shit. i have never been to a professional sports game and cant tell you the last time i watched one on tv. the idiot fans keep paying all their money so these hoodrats can make 30 million a year for putting a ball through a hoop. and the sad thing is its mostly white people who are funding this.
-
yeah liberal media...listen our beloved vice-president and his comments on the subject...he may have as well cried over it...along with the other liberal democrats who made up the hearing boards...bush did it b/c he had too no other reason..if nothing was said about it it would've looked bad for his admin. but that wouldnt be the only thing wrong...he's better than obama

QFT. No one really cares anymore. MLB, NBA = next "record industry" type of "downfall".

They are just modern day gladiators. Competition of some sort has always been a part of history.
I will say that if Americans put that money in their pocket, rather than buying a ticket, and went for a jog, this country would benefit.

Yep its cool sometimes to see your home team in the play offs or something. It is entertainment for a bit, but its the people who are obssesed with the whole thing. They know every player on every team, what they eat for breakfast, all thier stats and watch all the games swilling brew at a sports bar with thier buddies getting loud and drunk about men getting rich playing a silly game on TV that makes me sick.
Hey go to the ball park once in a while, for those that enjoy it it can be a nice time.

I read quite a bit, thanks. Do You honestly think Manny was using hcg because he had naturally low testosterone levels or are you just trying to be argumentative?
Also, Yes it does say somewhere who or where this doctor was, Ramirez said he went to his own physician, not a team-affiliated doctor. That was in one of the articles that I "read". See, i do read.
-

I don't know what issues you think I need to take care of, I simply disagree with you. He tested positive for a banned substance that is mostly used by men as a steroid ancillary. I'm sorry if you don't like my answer.
-
I agree the HCG thing is BS IMO. Does anyone know what they really found? It says they found HCG, or is that just the (Medical prescription) excuse Ramirez used to explain thru the roof test levels? Yes they are both banned substances, but HCG would not carry the stigma with it that steroids would.
-

Apparently when he was tested his testosterone levels were described as "very high" by MLB, but it was not a positive for testosterone, just a red flag. When they invesigated further they found some kind of paperwork indicating he had been using hcg. I don't know what the paperwork was but Manny did not appeal the suspension. Manny came out and said it was not a Dodgers' doctor who had given him the drug, but rather he had gone to a doctor not affiliated with the team and THAT doctor had written him this RX and thus he tested positive.
These guys were all told explicitly what was banned under the new "aggressive" steroid policy. Also, they have world-class Doctors working for each team that they can use for any variety of issues, so why would he go to someone else? Ramirez is just a simpleton.
-
Just to play devils advocate here----lets say he was taking it for infertility issues or associated with hypogonadism....
With the media the way it is now days, if you were in his shoes, would you want them finding out that you are shooting blanks or worse yet that you had low testosterone levels? I doubt it seriously if the team doctors have anything to do with fertility issues, although I still haven't read exactly what kind of doctor he went to see--a GP, a fertility specialist, a quack on 42nd and broadway.
Theres more to this than what we are being told.

Excellent point.

HCG is prescribed as a fertility drug for women.
they ban Manny for 50 games for using it
now if some unemployed, unmarried female wanted to get knocked up for the 4th time, by another different guy, i am sure she could get a script for it (paid for by working people)
and for the next 18 years the same working people would pay for her bastard child
the logic of society escapes me
-
just out of curiousity has anyone here ever heard of prisoners taking prenatal pills cause of the HCG in them to help keep and or add size??? i have heard this b4 but i thought it was bs...anyways ive never really liked manny i mean he gets paid an ungodly amount of money to swing at a ball with a stick and he doesnt even put 100% effort...there are some professional athletes that earn their money
(although still ridiculously too much) by playing their asses off
