Would you approve of any bill which included in its title "...Globalization Act" So I'm asking would you approve of a bill meant to coordinate our lives with the rest of the world for the main purpose of doing just that? I'm wondering what the point of being American is, if we have to do everything the same way as everyone else?
So yes or no?

No.

I dont see why americans are so scared of globalisation legislation since it was America that was globalisation's primary cause. All that talk about exporting American values has to a large extent been acted upon, too late to go back now, the world is already intertwined.

about 10% right. The ball actually started rolling in Europe long ago. It's really not that relevant anyway... Kind ah silly to tell an entire population that they can't oppose what originated in their local. As far as to late, gee, isn't that always the case... What's ever the point of bucking the status quo.... The only thing that seems to ever win that battle is a 30 mile wide meteor strike.

I think my point is more that, the average Westerner has enjoyed the benefits of globalisation, primarily at other people's expense. All the cheap stuff we get in Wall Mart etc, our Nike Shoes, all comes from gloabalisation, meanwhile exporting things like McDonalds, Films, Technology to other nations.
We benefit so much from it, I dont see why people would actually want to buck the trend, they would lose far more than they would gain no?

yea, but some of us have been yelling about in since day one. I'm one of those people. Not sure at what point I should have stopped yelling about it? I don't give a rats ass about losing that crap. There would also be much gain depending on how you look at things. I personally don't have any desire to benefit at the expense of culture and all that is diverse and unique in the world. I have no desire to force a country into a political system for the sole purpose that corporations can work within their system. on and on... It's all crap, selling your soul... no thanks...

X2 for Slapper.
Anytime something 'global' is presented, it usually is not in the interests of the US.
Like that Kyoto Protocal deal. Us didn't sign and looked like one giant collective a-hole, but all doing so would have done is hamstring America, and do little to nothing to or for the rest of the world.
But Obama would have signed it probably....

but you would agree that some sort of global cooperation is needed on issues of the environment right? I think even most americans cant deny that some sort of cap on emissions would be beneficial for everyoe on the planet

Um..no. Global warming is important to just 30% in most polls....70% of us have better things to do and bigger problems to worry about then some hysterical conspiracy based on shaky science. Further, guys like Gore stand to make a killing off of Cap and Trade.

GLobalization presumes that American and foreign interests are intertwined, they are not.
-
No.
-
YES...as it stands america has usurped many nations for ITS OWN SAKE. Maybe a taste of its own medicine will cure it of its ills.
The claim to SPREAD DEMOCRACY (globalization) is forcing other nations (at gun point) to accept the depraved value system of america...yet america somehow does not want to accept ANY of the value systems of other nations??? Maybe accepting some of the cultural practices of the Far East will result in longer healthier lives live they enjoy in the Far East; Accepting the cultural desire to be very educated like in INDIA will turn america from the land of IDIOTS to a place where the IQ is more in line with the worlds norm; maybe practicing family structure like on so many continents and countries like Africa, Middle East, South America (indigenous people), South Pacific will result in a imperceptible divorce rate as opposed to the 70 percent divorce rate in america. Seems america would have much to gain from GLOBALIZATION... no one loses their identity per se, but they adopt time proven traits that better the nation and people.
To say this to the average uneducated american strikes fear and terror as they believe it means and end to drug, care free sex, porn, excessive drinking, immature behavior, violence, etc etc and in many regards it does. Maybe once americans see what life should be and could be like they will let go of the ills that keep them and reduce them into the state they are presently in.

Food and Drug Administration Globalization Act of 2009
http://www.opencongress.org/bill/111-h759/show
-
Yes.
-
No as it pertains to the question.
For globalization in general the answer is still no. The more you depend on other nations, the more their problems become your own.
-
NO

The title doesn't make the bill, but I wouldn't support a bill that had the sole purpose of requiring us to comply with some global standard.

Yes.
AbsofuckinglyNOT.... But I can see how an antisocial communist like you would.

Bravo!
Who gives a poop what you call it, what is in it?!
When you start voting for or against a bill based on nothing more than the title,
you end up with such wonderful gems like The Patriot Act! {spit} That was a real winner wasn't it? :-X

Have you even read the Patriot Act? If so, which specific provisions do you have a problem with?

I'll make it real quick.... the proviso that it had to be signed prior to even being read to keep Americans safe.

??? You're saying the bill had language that required the president to sign it before it was read? What specific provision is that?

I'm saying it's architects used language that convinced both houses to pass it unread, so they could further dismantle the Constitution

That's not what I meant. I didn't mean people shouldn't read whatever bill. Hell more people read bills than politicians. At the same time, I'm not thrilled about trying a can of something labeled Beefy Shit Soup Extravaganza. Just wondering how many people see "globalization act" like something labeled Shit Soup? If shit is in it, I don't want it. If Globalization is in it, I probably don't want it any more than I want to dig into that soup. And if Shit is the best they can label it, knowing they have to appeal to the population with the title, good god, it must really suck lol.
-

Do you deny that politicians were rushed into that bill without reading it and not daring to oppose something called "The Patriot Act" right after 9/11? I mean fucking bullshit of all bullshit, was that title really fucking necessary? Hell no... That's a fact, that did happen, exactly like that. The fact that it happened that way should be grounds enough to have it immediately repealed, named the #54675 Act and given time to debate. We'll get Samuel Jackson to hold a gun to heads and scream, "Read it guy!!!" :D

I'd be all for the can labelled "Beefy Shit Soup Extravaganza" if it was really filled with Baskin Robbins Daiquiri Ice.
Do you know how hard that flavour is to find these days? We could keep all the goodies to ourselves. :D
Why do you think they called Iceland Iceland, ...and called Greenland Greenland?
I hear Iceland is a beautiful country with a temperate climate and some of the hottest looking women on the planet.
Greenland is one giant frozen chunk of ice. Playing by those rules... give me the beefy shit soup extravaganza. :-\

Lousy comparison, but I think you know that. But if that's the soup you want, I'll do up a batch and send it on up :-X

The answer is...it depends on the contents of the bill. What a dumb ass question. ::)
Are you terrified of the word "globalization," Hugo? I know you've been doing years of exhaustive research on the impending "One World Order." ::)

... I don't want any of Ben & Jerry's Chunkey Monkey. :-X

handle what? Dude, can't someone disagree with you a little bit and still be ok? What do you do when you're having dinner with the family or with buddies and someone says something you don't jive with 100%, smack a beer bottle over their head? Shit man, there are several people here I disagree with on some stuff but I don't all of a sudden do a 180 on them. LOL you get all nasty at the slightest thing that differs from your opinion. I've looked the other way for the most part when you do that but fuck it man, fuck you.

Isn't this cute? "Wittle Hugo" is spazzing out tonight. :D
I don't agree 100% with anybody and I dish it out for everyone to deal with. I don't have friends or family that act like little bitches. They know how I am and either engage me in debate, see the humor in my antagonistic style of rhetoric, or agree with me.
I'm "getting all nasty"...take the sand out of your vagina, Hugo. It's going to be okay. :-\

bullshit, if you're anything like you are on this board, you start mocking them as soon as they disagree with you... I see nothing humorous in your style.

You sure as hell did a 180 on me when I pointed out the lunacy of your conspiracy theories regarding HR 875 and your unfounded fear of what is to become of organic farming. YOU are the one with the chipped shoulder.

I was responding to Jag's contention about "the proviso that it had to be signed prior to even being read." I think she just pulled that out of her rear end. But maybe I'm wrong. That's why I asked her to point me to the specific provision.

Depends on the bill. NWO queers and their unfounded CTs regarding the shadowy organizations pulling the strings from the dark corners. ::)
