Title: What squat would be considered stronger?
Post by: wavelength on June 05, 2009, 12:58:43 PM
A) 1 rep of 2 x bodyweight at 185lbs or
B) 3 reps of 2 x bodyweight at 150lbs ?

Did the second one yesterday, best relative squat for me.

true but then again tiny tits are supposed to lift more relative to their bodyweight

I have rarely seen the correct squat in my life.
I have been bbing since 1988 and i have seen only around 10 bodybuilders doing it correct.

So talking about pountage before seeing the form is quite nonsence.

The 2nd is the better feat of strength. The difference in bodyweight isn't that much between the two to make the 1st more impressive,

The "total tonnage" of the second is much more impressive to my eye.

I agree but I learned squatting from a national powerlifting champion so I think my form is pretty good

Maybe its the powerlifting style.
There is large difference between the bbing style and the powerlifting style.
And needless to say,the powerlifting style has better advantage than the bbing style when it comes to the pountage.

I don't think there is only one style for either one of them.

Thats  what i am saying.

Before you talk about the pountage, you must make a defenition of squat style.

I agree. What I can say is that I go slightly below parallel, not ass to the grass.

And how about your body angle?

Its near from vertical to the floor(Near from hack squat range of motion) or near from paralel to the floor(Near from leg press range of motion).

Formar one is for bbing and bar is near from the neck. the later one is for powerlifting and bar is bit far from the neck and on the lower side of trap.

Depends on what you would consider more vertical than parallel. But you would probably say it's more a powerlifting style if you saw me lift.

Then my answer is: You must lift heavier than this. I see you doing 140kg 3 reps with your 75kg around.Thats light for the powerlifting style.
But super heavy for bbing style.

Front squat is best, clean it from the floor works the upper body and legs..old school lifts ;D

I just squat in the way which feels natural to me + when doing higher reps it seems to give intense quadricep pump so it must be right

bodyweight is irrelevant in terms of whos a strong bastard and whos not.

I agree

particularly when strength is not "in relation to bodyweight"
Title: Re: What squat would be considered stronger?

but obviously the relation to bodyweight is acknowledged in strength sports, otherwise there wouldn't be weight divisions

if you are squatting 220kgs at 110kgs or 120kgs at 60kgs which is more impressive  :)

Your point is that it's not a linear formula and I agree. Still there is a relation.
