Title: Should I just pack it in as a comp BB?
Post by: Howard on June 17, 2009, 06:43:42 PM
I compted in lots of shows from 1978 - '95.
Now at age 50 I am chunky, perma bulker with a stocky body and bushy butt.
I have to take viagra to get it up  :P. I have a prescription for Androgel (HRT) because my balls have dried up. My lower back is arthrtic and my six pack had grown into a full keg. My current diet is more Homer Simspon approved than NPC contest prep.
I recently had to start wearing reading glasses, and useing a nose/ear hair trimmer as well.

On the good side, I still have a full head of hair and don't have to get up 3x a night to piss.
My strength is as good or better than ever and I "think" I have more muscle mass now than in younger days.

I keep having this delusion that I can diet for a contest , again and get back up on stage.
I am not sure if anyone needs to see me up there however. It might not be pretty, even if I get leaner.
Last yr I saw a guy almost 80 who compted and wore a depends undergrament under his 1955 trunks. Hmmm, I thought, hiow bad could I look after this? :-\

I hear where you're coming from. There's times when I consider going in a show again, even though it's been about 15 years, only because I know it will force me to stay on a strict diet and get ripped again. I think, however I have the discipline to get in top shape again at 46, without going in a contest. Maybe you should just get in shape for yourself....not to have to compete. Just look great so when you go to the pool, or take your shirt off in front of a chick, you can feel proud and confident.

No offense, but please shut the motherfuck up. I think it's safe to say no one hear gives a rat's ass whether you live or die, much less if you "compete"

That is actually a good idea. On a serious note, my current goal is running more nad getting my wt and waist line down.

Thanks :D but did you have to add the "for his age"

On a somewhat serious note, I have no real desire to compete again and nobody cares either way.
I am simply trying to run more , lose some wt and get my waist down, etc.

you look young in the the face man. you got a strong built. you need to only replace some of the bad foods with good foods, that way u dont lower your metabolsim

constanly drifting down in calories= disaster for metabolism, and fuel for activity, with any "diet" aim to keep activity the same if not higher

Thanks again and in all modesty, I have plenty of knowledge, I just lack the motivation.
Bodybuilding alone doesn't seem much motivation or personal pay off for me, but, I am psyched to become a better distance runner, drop wt and see my abs again.

dont be so sure of your knowledge just yet big fella, it takes knowledge to create a diet for motivation AND fatloss simultaneously bro, thus rendering your said knowledge incomplete

sometimes i think i know a thing or tooo but it doesnt make sense for someone to claim knowledge when they cant apply that knowledge for motivation
