Title: Light beer?
Post by: Eyeball Chambers on June 18, 2009, 12:27:02 AM
What's the deal with light beer?  Seriously...

Everyone drinks light beer, and acts like it's strange not to drink light... WTF??

Regular beer is just fine but it's just so damn to down 12 to 15 a night on a consistent basis (especially the thicker stuff like Guiness), or maybe I am just not tough enough any more.

Now I could easily drink a 12 pack of Bud Light 7 days a week, it's all about consumability on a mass scale for me.  :)

wow

after years and years of drinking Jack Daniels out of a 2 liter beer bong you tend to build up a bit of alcohol tolerance  ;D

My wife drinks light beer. Nuff said. I personally only drink the heavy stuff, with some diet sprite mixed in. Less calories ::), less pissing involved, ;D and quicker buzz.

LOL. I've just never understood why people would want 1% less alcohol in a more watery beer. 'Course the regular stuff is swill as well.

Cans up here are like $7-10 more than bottles! We just keep topping up the Solo cups. Never seen a keg at a baseball deal. I like the idea, though I can see how that could go nicely awry.   :D

Sounds great. That's a lot of baseball and drinking all going on at the same time. Kinda like how I envision a Heaven to be. I once hit a tater and nailed some guy just standing outside the beer tent with his mates. You'd better believe that I was apologetic and bought him a fresh one. Totally my bad.

Major misconception about Guinness.   It's actually only about 125 calories per 12oz - roughly halfway in between a light beer (Bud Light, Bud Select, Miller Lite, etc.... all around 90-110 cals) and a full bodied lager or ale (usually 140-180 cals).    It may *look* thick and heavy, but it's actually very light and goes down easy, while tasting full.  That's why many consider Guinness the "perfect beer".

I dig darks but ambers are my favorites. Lucky for me the Pac NW has over 30 private micro brews to visit all with 5-10 different flavors. Great stuff.

Anyone coming to the Seattle area let me know...I'll give you the tour.

This is correct.

Franziskaner, Paulaner, Tucher are all examples of great Weiss beers  (weizen).   The "dunkel" varieties (dark), even better.

You know Edelweiss? It's a great Austrian Hefeweizen.

the lights have less carbs,  i think most of them have less alcohol too though.

Brewery/Brand   Beer   Alcohol %   Calories   Carbs

Budweiser (U.S)   Budweiser   5.0   143   10.6
Budweiser   Bud Light   4.2   95   6.6
