We had our "gay pride" day in Dublin a couple of days ago - now as many of you know I am not homophobic but I've got to question... how can you be proud to be gay... I mean after all - isn't it true that you are born gay? So how can you be proud to be gay?
Maybe some of you can share some light on this...

i was born white, and i am very proud to be white......not only proud........thankful... ......they are not really proud to be gay, they are really insecure, tormented, and ashamed...........when they gather together like that.......each individual feels less like an outcast.........misery loves company.
intolerant homophobic white guy approved.

I do understand the reason 20+ years ago - when they were actively fighting for the right to be the way they are.
A parade was needed - to get the message out.
But in these days? Why fucking bother - it's not like you aren't allowed to fuck somebodies bumhole anymore.
At least not in western world.

To me its nothing to be "proud" of. You either are or you are not and you simply accept it and live your life accordingly. You know "being gay" is not normal and not something you'd wish on someone else. Its as stupid as "Crippled Pride Day" or "AIDS Pride Day".

hey itS a parade, just like any other parade, take the kids...............they are not going out of their way to be obscene or to rub their sexuality in your face.................... .........THEY JUST WANT TO BE TAKEN SERIOUSLY, REALLY ::)

well believe it or not but there is such a thing as "being proud to have aids" and actually looking forward to get infected - the once infecting other gay people are called gift givers and the once who want to have the virus are called bug chasers.

is that true......why would anyone aspire to contract HIV........is it like a badge of honor, or identity within the community??

we need people with m4's on top of buildings when these parades occur, and then unload and mow down all the queers.

maybe they feel about being gay the same way you feel about being white. I'm not going to ask how you feel about being intelligent or non judgmental since those terms clearly wouldn't apply to anyone who posted what you did.

We don't need the parades or the gays. Do away with them I say.

stark and his 150lbs body in a glittery thong in front of a room of strangers, 90% are men ...definitely not homophobic ..

I think you'd have to be the victim of prejudice to know why pride in who you are is a big deal.
Anyway, are you not proud of your nationality? Even though you're born there?

For the gay activist, which have a disproportional amount of political clout, it is not enough that they be allowed to live their gay lifestyle in peace but to have mainstream society not only accept it but to honor it. That there's no difference between being gay and being hetro. That if you had a son going on his first date and you had a choice for him going off hand in hand with a girl or hand in hand with a guy you would have no preference. It would simply be a coin toss.

stupid topic IMO... you can ask the same question about almost everything... why the fuck do people have anniversaries? why the fuck do countries celebrate Vetrans days, Indepemndence day etc... its just people "remembering" and "being thankful" for whatever that caused the major change in their lives...
in the case of the gay parade, sure they were born gay, its irrelevant if they are happy to be gay or not, the fact of the matter is that they were a total outcast back in the day, but now they are more accepted/tolerated, and its because of the whole gay parade that happened years ago...
so i dont think they are celebrating their gayness and showing how proud they are, but instead they are just showing appreciation for the chain of events that made them a lil more tolerable in the eyes of sociaety..
hope this helps

I don't get gay people. Women are beautiful. Men have hairy assholes and ding dongs. I just don't understand nor would I want to.

For people like Hans Vogel

"Paragraph 175." If you're gay, lesbian, bi, or interested in the Holocaust, you should see this documentary. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0236576/ It's available on Netflix.
