Well, I'm back hitting the gym pretty hardcore. Today I attempted the 200lb Dumbbells at Gold's Gym in Venice. This is the first time since I tore my pec.
-
all around big dumbbells.
-
looking big man. might tear your pec again with that type of training though.
-
After being frustrated by the 200's, I dropped down to 165lb Dumbbells and got 15 reps.
I hope to get the 200's for 10 soon. Just need some more practice. Those suckers are HEAVY!
-
Forgive the shameless plug of my GunPOWDER product. I just couldn't resist ;D
-
Yeah those 200's look fuckin heavy.
do you train for strenth or bb or both?
when i said one time here flyes are better than benchpress i got laughts around here, but i stand by my opinion, my chest grows much better with flyes than any type of bench press movement. you get more width and the inner pecs pop out drastially. i like to do the dubmell flyes on a slight stance between flat and incline. for me personally flyes are the best musclebulding for the chest.

Good idea!

Good lifts. How much different is it to press like that? Seems like once you start getting up there in weight, the width of the dbs becomes a problem if you're pressing regular (and using particularly large plated dbs). I press fairly narrow, too so I'm think I'm going to have to switch at some stage.
What did you tear your pec doing? Bar benching?
-
Arnold never did that and his chest was HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHOOOOO OOOOOOOOOOOOOOGE!
Arnold>Freakshow
Arnold=Did not have to lift heavy weights.

Nobody has to lift heavy weights. Some of us just actually enjoy the challenge.

Thanks Bro. I think I'll be okay. I tore on a Flat Bench on my 6th rep of 505lbs.
Benching is stupid, but it was soooooo much fun!
-
wow
very impressive!!!
what is your diet and cardio like??? u look very lean!

I train for both. Mainly BB but I love to train heavy.

I've never once felt like db pressing was going to injure me. Even when I've been trying weights that I've failed without a rep on. I love it.

Thanks. The ONLY reason I press like that is because of the size of the DB's. It's impossible to get a decent range in the horizontal position.
Yes, tore it Bar Benching. The absolute worst thing you can do for chest. But I was doing it cause it was fun.

wow
very impressive!!!
what is your diet and cardio like??? u look very lean!
I eat anywhere from 3200-4000 cals a day approx 35% Protein, 50% Carbs and 15% Fat.
I do 45 minutes on the treadmill right when I wake up (actually have 1 scoop of Whey protein in water first), 5 days a week.

Thanks Bro. When are we going to make the Gold's trip again??
Talked to Chris Cormier there today. He was training with Stan McQuay. They were both training pretty hard.

100% all nachos
With cheese and jalapenos of course!
-
looking big man. might tear your pec again with that type of drug use.
Fixed.

Fred!!!! Long time no see buddy. Nice to see the pec is back in shape!

I think the "freakshow" should give up the dumbells and go for max strength in legs and dunk a baskeball like spud web, now thats a challenge, with more payoff/rewarding IMO. go4it

Freakshow is a pretty big dude, it would be quite a challenge to jump that high at his bodyweight...

I CAN DUNK!!! Or at least I "could" (it was never pretty tho). I have a bulging disk L5/S1. So landing with my body weight on that disk would probably handicap me.
I was playing basketball on a regular basis at the Lord's Gym in Compton just 18 months ago. Had to stop cause of the back:(
And Legs were my best body part when I was bodybuilding.
-
Sick bro! How tall are you and how much you weigh? Even moving them for the set you did is crazy strong in my book, not to mention your coming off a pec tear. I have always prefered DB presses for chest but all my pressing is on an incline. I m 6'2" with long monkey arms flat does nuttin for me.

I'm 5'10" about 250lbs. Moving the weight around is the worst part. You have to roll them to the bench. You couldn't possibly walk through the gym carrying 400lbs without hurting somethin'. Have you ever done Flat Cable Flys??

Great lift, mate. You're a monster 8)
-
Yeah, really impressive!!! Especially your range of motion!!!
???
-
I only saw one dumbell in that video!
-
-
very good lift
-
Great job! How heavy were you training when you tore your pec doing barbell bench? What was the max that you had done around that same time? Just curious. Thanks.
Pat
-
Your technique is wrong.
-
You actually workout?
Get the fuck out of here.
;D
Strong boii!
-
Pretty damn good. Better than that poser Rodney Roller at MD and his 200lb lifts.

is your spine condition reversable? dont u think the juice just might have something to do with that brother? i am not hating on you just trying to help just like everyone try to help el falconie
-
Did u have a full or partial tear. I had a full tear and I can't do any flat pressing. Db or bb. I can decline and incline. Your fortunate to be able to gi heavy again. Everyone else I've seen with a pec tear is never the same
-
Good stuff Fred!
(nice website as well/watched ur video/products look/sound great)
-
Great lifts man! Depending on the surgeon, the pec that was torn can be stronger after the surgery, lifting heavy doesn't necessarily mean it will be torn again.

Pat
I tore it doing reps with 500lbs on the bench. Didn't max at the time so I don't know what I could have done.
-
What kind of numbers have you done in other lifts?
Maybe I missed it but did you have surgery for the pec? Complete or partial tear?
-

I have a bulging disk (L5/S1). I hurt it building rafters in the garage a few years ago. I was up on a ladder and had a 4x8 sheet of plywood above my head when the wood fell backwards. I was able to stay on the ladder and not fall, but I pinched my disk.
If I train to keep my back strong and stretch consistently then I'm okay. But I cannot apply any serious compressive forces or impact.

I was very lucky! I actually caught it as it was tearing and stopped the exercise. I went immediately to therapy. I worked with Steve Murphy. The same guy that worked with Melvin Anthony after his tear and he also works with Jay Cutler.

Thanks Mike. I appreciate it!

I'm pretty strong on everything. Pulling movements are my weakest tho.
I haven't really tried pushing the limits since I started training again. But I will be posting more videos on different exercises in the near future. So we shall see:)

This is an AWESOME video of Stan!
He is a World Champion Powerlifter that weighs 275lbs + though. So that is to be expected.
