“I must point out that his victory is a defeat for the sport as such. Don’t get me wrong, Lesnar is a fearsome and very dangerous opponent, but I am old school, I prefer skill and technique. This win was a defeat of martial skills. Much of what he achieved in the fight is a result of pure power… Of course, Lesnar has quality sparring partners, is an experienced wrestler and a man who learns very quickly. But he is yet to have a real struggle. He does not have many fights in his career and I would love to see how he would react to two or three good low kicks.”
-
I have to agree, I would like to see him fight someone who could stand up to him pound for pound or at least evade his big ass when he advances. Lesner seems to simply overpower ppl which hey is part of fighting but like crocop seems to imply you get a guy his size out there with some skill and i think lesner probably would lose.
-
Maybe crocop can start a new organization, UMMAC (Ultimate Mixed Martial Arts Championship) where using power is not allowed
-
I agree with cro cops analysis.however you win the fight at any cost.so far Lensers pure power has bettered skill and experience. That being said I think Brock is due for a loss sooner Rather than latter.
-

How many kick do you think he'd take before taking that person down?
I'm guessing 1. :D

I hate Brock Lesnar. I think he has zero martial arts skills whatsoever. I think he's an immature loud mouth who thinks he's still in the WWE. He makes the sport look bad and is the anthiesis of what someone in MMA should be.
That being said, he is a world class wrestler, he's huge, strong and mean. He obviously is doing something right. He gets people excited and puts fans in the seats. He got the job done against Mir and you have to give him props for avenging his prior loss.
Cro Cop is right about one thing though- And they teach this to every single person who does martial arts ( even young kids)- Technique always triumphs over muscle. So far, Brock has fought smaller, weaker, older and physically less gifted opponents. He is 285lbs of muscle, young, hungry and in shape. But, you can only get by on brute force for so long. Eventually he is going to gas himself out and collapse, or lose to someone with superior technique or comparable physical tools that is able to neutralize Brocks natural abilities. How he performs under those circumstances is going to demonstrate if he's for real, or if he's just another bully without the skills or heart to really solidify himself as a force in MMA.

Exactly

I really hope CroCop can get on track and get some impressive wins so that we're looking at CroCop Vs Lesnar sometime early next year, regardless of who wins Velasquez/Carwin vs Lesnar..
-
I agree with Crocop, but a win is a win. Everyone has a specialty. Brocks is strength.
Once thing is certain, if he does not evolve, someone will surely take him out.
Carwin and Fedor and possibly Lashley are the only ones I see taking him out.
I feel that Lesnar needs a good whoopin before he gets better.
-
I give Gonzaga a shot at taking Lesnar down a peg as well.
Randy was doing well until he miscalculated and got caught.
-
Size and strength does matter.................. .

I agree. A win is a win....and Brocks strengths are his athleticism and power.
He's just maximizing them to help his game which is to win by attrition imo. Alot of guys do it and cut through guys smaller, less technically sound guys in other weight classes (sherk, alves..even hughes) .....mass up and win with attrition and aggression....it's when they meet the technically sound guy usually you see them get beaten pretty soundly.
aggression and power simply will not work on them. Need a plan B and C basically to compliment aggressive A
-
When, or if, they get enough competition at higher body weight, they should really make a super heavyweight class.
-
Size and strength does matter.................. .
Now you remind me abou that stupid thread about the "bber vs mma"... ahaaha ... Now they will star a thread "ufc should be only for small powerless fighters"... when are these guys going to learn that size and strength are IMPORTANT... I see a lot of guys here with the "little man syndrome"... Imagine this... now they are saying that Lesnar should not use his strength ::) he should be a "martial artis" ::) A win is a win... and in real fighting strength and size can be decisive... Hey Mindspin, what about Lesnar's excessive, useless muscle? ::)
-
size and strength only help lesner, they are not the all in all in deciding his recent victories. bob sapp is much stronger then lesner as far as weight lifting power is concerned, yet sapp couldnt throw people around like lesner does. lesner has mat strength, mat strength and weight lifting strength are 2 different things. all you grapplers/wrestlers know what im sayin, if brock didnt have his wrestling backround and his athletic gifts he would be another bob sapp imo

ATTENTION! Wrestling is as much a martial art as judo or BJJ.
Lesnar = world class wrestler = world class martial artist
-
lesnar would hurt cro cop bad with gnp

No it isn't. Wrestling is a sport.
lesnar would hurt cro cop bad with gnp
Correct. It would likely be painful to watch.

No it isn't. Wrestling is a sport.
wrestling is considered a martial art...
look it up..
-

look it up..
Don't have to...
For me it is a combative sport that provides useful self defense attributes. There aren't specific techniques designed to kill or maim an opponent in wrestling.
-
so whats the definition of martial arts is it only if the art is of an Asian descent or what i thought MMA had alot of boxing involved also plus wrestling so where does that come into martial arts uh? everyone is just hating because there is noone out there that has come to toe the line that is as large as him i mean WTF dont pick a fight with someone you have no way of winning all he did was take all the fancy ass moves and knocked them out of the park..... even BAD PUBLICITY is still PUBLICTY wheather you think hes a flake or not DANA WHITE is still gonna get your money and Brock is gonna get paid
-
so whats the definition of martial arts
the definition of "Martial" is basically to be warlike or Combat...
-
judo is as much a sport as wrestling.....oh...no... I forgot they are wearing kimonos and it was invented by that Kano guy...an Asian.
If wearing a kimono and invented by Asians => Martial Art for sure
-
I agree with Crocop...Its to bad a super heavyweight division wasn't created before Dana allowed Lesner to fight top heavyweights...
-
Fuck Crocop. He should have manned up and asked for a fight with Lesnar.......oh wait he bailed and went back to Japan like the pansy assed bitch that he is.

Actually he has signed a three fight deal with the UFC.
-
when did he do this because Dana White was complaining after Crocops last match recently that Crocop had fucked him royal and didnt sign the contract and fucked off to Japan.
-
According to Kevin Iole of Yahoo Sports, Mirko Cro Co is already done with the UFC. Cro Cop had signed for one fight, and had worked out details of two other fights, but said he would sign for the additional fights after the UFC 99 bout with Mostapha Al-Turk.
After that fight, Cro Cop told Dana White that he had signed a three-fight contract with the Japan-based DREAM. Dana White had the following comments on the matter…
"Isn't that a dirty [expletive] thing to do? He [expletived] me. The first time in the history of the company I do one over the phone. He promised me a three-fight deal and he [expletived] me."
The words Dana used were FUCKING and FUCKED!

Thats old...this one is the most recent.
Cro Cop Stays With UFC, To Fight In September
Dallas will host Cro Cop and Brazilian Junior Dos Santos on September 19.
Mirko Filipovic`s manoeuvre has succeeded, he will stay with the UFC organisation, under the terms which suit him most! This means more fights, which means more money and more chances of retiring with the most valuable champion belt which two free fights offer at the moment.
They showed how much they wanted Cro Cop in the UFC cage, because owner Lorenzo Fertitta, otherwise a billionaire, personally arrived in Croatia to talk to Mirko and offered him a new contract, under the conditions which favour him more.
Of course, the Croatian fighter took the deal. Fertitta confirmed this in a conversation for the Las Vegas Sun, saying that everything has been arranged and that Mirko Filipovic would be fighting at least three times in his organisation. The first fight is scheduled for September 19 against Brazilian Junior Dos Santos.
The fight will take place in Dallas and if the Croatian fighter wants to the everything by the book, he might be fighting for the coveted belt in the second fight already. This would be the pinnacle of his career and he would be able to leave this sport behind.
(However Ive read other reports that state otherwise so who knows)
-
Mirko will always have a kickers chance...

NO WAY LASHLEY takes him out. Lashley has limited skills, limited power in his hands, (Couldn't put away Guida), and is inferior to Brock in wrestling. Fedor is a threat, Carwin as well. Roger Gracie, if he ever gets a stand up game has a jits game that would give Brock fits. But Roger is a little lanky, and isn't in the UFC. Brock is evolving, the cross-side position he put Frank in to administer the GNP on a legit black belt is impressive. He keeps training with Nelson, Paulson, Medieros, he will be a killer. He was rocked, so his chin can be a chink in the armor. (By both Mir, and Couture)
-
what is the likelihood that these two will fight?
-
He was rocked, so his chin can be a chink in the armor. (By both Mir, and Couture)
After reading this, it occured to me that even though he was rocked, he kept going forward with enough intensity to win both fights, maybe his chin isn't so suspect?

Neither Handy or Mir are known for one punch KO power. If either of these two could rock Lesnar, it doesn't bode well if a heavy handed guy like Carwin hits him on the button. Assuming Lesnar doesn't double him out of the cage first.

Lesnar was not rocked. No sign of his legs going or getting wobbly. He probably has a good chin

You don't know that yet. Let him get tagged by Carwin and see what happens.

I think what rocked Lesnar with Mir was a couple of knees just before the fatal takedown. I don't remember Randy getting any real good shots on him, I was just making a point that anybody that has connected hasn't slowed down his assault on them, yet.

he goes to sleep thats what happens.
