OK folks....a few years ago I could bust out around 100 pushups at once with pretty good form...I've always been addicted to pushup's it's actually what lead me to weight training over 15 years ago...but I got out of the habit of hitting them and now even though I currently bench 335lbs for a single I can only do 50 push up's.....this really pisses me off...So..I'm challenging myself.I will post a video On getbig within 1 month of me doing 100 pushup's if I fail I will delete my account and retire from GetBig forever.Something some of you would probably be happy about haha.Haters root against me..friends or acquaintances wish me luck(I'll need it)thanks.....
BTW....whats the most pushup's you have done in a single set?anyone did 100 or more?

My 63 yr old father has done 65.. and can do one with Only his thumbs on the floor. Its fucking impossible lol.

This also presents another problem as I was at least 20lbs lighter last time I did a pushups....

I really need to loss weight not gain.I'm a 245lbs natural so I am overweight.I believe I will start a diet as well maybe if I lose 10lbs in a month The 100 pushup's will be more likely to happen...

you guys are a joke..........bench press , deadlift lol...weightlifting is the worst way possible to be functionlly fit..........you can't do more than 50 push ups why would you even be lifting weights lol

But there are many good exercises you can do with weights that benefit your overall health too...

agree.... totally..guys on the machine t bars pulling... 4 plates and cant do 4 chins...
i started with push ups... dips chins and sit ups... can still knock out in excess of 20 chins..
over 100 press ups
over 100 dips.. even though ive put on about 40lb in weight since i started training
functional and core strength is key

that was 40 lbs and 8 years ago though.

So what's your plan of attack?
The plan is to do pushups at least everyother day....and clean up the diet in an attempt to get down to at least 235lbs.hopefully this will be enough to add another 50 pushups in one month....I will also do alot of pushups with my feet elevated and some in between chairs....
for those that say I'm a fool...thankyou for helping motivate me...

1000 pushups with a 100 pound rutsack on. It was punishment from a drill sergeant because some idiot decided to take a cookie from the mess hall before our 3 mile march...... :P

100 pushups fresh, is pretty simple...If you have good tricep power, they would be easy to bang out. Now, 100 thre-point push ups (with elbows out and hands together like two pssing cars) is very, very hard to do.
I had a friend in college, everynight he'd do 250 diamond pushups. He'd break them up in sets of 50. 5'5 built Nigerian dude, he had unreal triceps...too bad he let the weed get to him and he became lazy.

as you will see when my vid comes out I'm not lacking in the triceps department at all....however I disagree that 100 push up are "pretty simple".I've been around for a while and have only ran across a handfull of people that can do 100 or more....now I know the internet and getbig is different...anyone & everyone can do hundreds of them in a single set with perfect form on here...but you won't see them post up a vid though haha.....they will say things such as "I have nothing to prove" or "My camera is broke" or "I have better things to do with my time"...often these same people have post counts way higher than me...

i am natural im not a bodybuilder i train for functional fitness and core strength using only bw weight exercises....i'm 6'1 190 or so 8-10% bf i do burpees dips pull ups hill sprints jump rope and i work out about 20 mins a day total but very intensely

not sure I see your logic...especially when you get into different body types and weights.like I said I'm a 245lbs natural...yea I know some 180lbs dudes that can do 100 straight but not to many 250lbs guys.

Ok guys did five sets....got 52 first time 45 second 40 third 40 fourth and 35 fith set...not bad but I got a long way to go to .although I did only rest about a minute or so between sets.

I've never tried 100 at one time, always broke them up in 50's...plus I'm lighter, which may have something to do with it...I'm sure, if you did them say, at 6 am, 6pm, with either a light meal or a empty stomach you could bang out 100 with ease...

I usually just drop and do as many as I can till failure...today that was 65....

actually disagree on this if you go completely down until chest touches floor your putting an extream amount of pressure on the wrist.the classic hand position of a pushup is already an unnatural hand position.thats why you'll see alot of guys do them on there fist or use dumbells.And if you lock out as with any exercise you take the tension off the working muscle.

Yea I've always been able to do at least 50 pushups no matter how big I've gotton.But 100 is a different story.I would encourage anyone who hasn't tried 100 straight to do so.most people I've seen usually gas out around 75-80 and form defiantly goes out the window.

thanks Princess...I will have to do the fast track version though as thats a six week program and I only have a little over three weeks before D-day.haha....
My biggest concern is my weight.The scale had me at 246lbs this morning thats on a empty stomach with no clothes after the mornin dump lol.....Like I said I've did 100 pushup before but no were near this heavy a bodyweight.

I think that's a bad program 'cause there is no progression to speak of...it's like you have to jump from easy to hard in like one week. I'd suggest if you want to do alot of pushups start with easy volume like 200 pushups a week. Do these in as many workouts and days you like, and don't care about reps and sets, just focus on the volume, keep the sets easy. Add about 10% to the volume each week. Take rest weeks as you see fit. That's the way I would do it.

I agree...I'm just tryin to do 5 more pushups than the workout b 4...so far so good..I started out at 50 reps and just did 70 reps yesterday.tomarrow I go for 75...
