This thing with the school speech and white house proposed assignments for students around the president's speech is along the same lines of strange. I've never seen things like this from our presidents before. If there wasn't so much pushback on the educational assignments, they wouldn't have changed it like they did yesterday. This administration is quite socialist, the only reason they have shown some restraint is because the people push back. Left unencumbered, this would be a fairly socialist nation if left to the leading democrats in power at the moment.

Up until that point you worked or you didn't eat. After WWII the economy was thriving, you had hundreds of thousands of soldiers returing home after 4 or 5 years with 4 or 5 years of pay saved up. They bough houses started families and because of the hard lives they lead and the horrors of war they over compensated and gave their kids everything. And what did we end up with? Most teachers are already liberal. The combination of the president's speech, the government lesson plans/questions, and liberal leaning teachers has the potential to force politics into the classroom. We need to get politics out of the classroom until kids are able to think logically for themselves (upper high school and college). I am 100% opposed to this because it starts a slippery slope and it pushes politics into the classroom where kids can be indoctrinated or discriminated against.
I hope families are talking to each other and pulling their kids out of school that day.

Socialism isn't necessarily bad in itself but it requires a group of people who all work for the common good and all contribute. It doesn't work when you have a lot of people looking for handouts and entitlements.
Socialism could work in a small population of healthy, hard working people who have true respect for themselves and others. In the US, too many people are trying to find ways to beat the system, do as little work as possible, be entitled to goods and services with little contribution and have substandard respect for others and I'll be damned if you take more from us that do work hard and sacrifice to give handouts to lazy disrespectful people. I'm all for immigrants who come to this country to work, contribute and make a better life for themselves if they respect the country and want to be a real part of it. Immigrants looking for handouts and to push their customs and religions upon the country without respecting our laws and customs can f-ck off.

I am very pro volunteering, and getting school kids into youth organisations.
Science shows that things like that will help them develop their democratic skills.
And getting the kids to work a few days a year in the community IS a good idea.

May I advise Georgia Arms? They reload their ammo and resell it. It is very cheap, an American company, and is known down here to be very reliable practice ammo. They sell in bulk, it's a beautiful thing! They might still be on backorder, but it is well worth the wait!!!

Depends on what you believe, but the UN has has been pushing this CO2 crap since the late 60's early 70's. Is there a movement toward a one world governance or some other power broker shit going on? But first, the "good" news:
WASHINGTON -- Landmark legislation to curb U.S. greenhouse gas emissions was approved by the House of Representatives in a close vote late Friday, securing a hard-fought victory for a cornerstone of President Barack Obama's agenda.
After months of negotiations, the Democratic-controlled House has narrowly passed sweeping legislation calling for the nation's first-ever limits on pollution linked to global warming. Stephen Power explains the bill's implications.
The 1,200 page bill—formally known as the "American Clean Energy and Security Act"—will reach into almost every corner of the U.S. economy. By putting a price on emissions of common gases, such as carbon dioxide, the bill would affect the way electricity is generated, how homes and offices are designed, how foreign trade is conducted and how much Americans pay to drive or to heat their homes.
Talking about how very deeply Goldman Sachs is embedded in the investors that will profit from cap-and-trade, Taibbi says:
Well, you might say, who cares? If cap-and-trade succeeds, won't we all be saved from the catastrophe of global warming? Maybe - but cap-and-trade, as envisioned by Goldman, is really just a carbon tax so that private interests collect the revenues. Instead of simply imposing a fixed government levy on carbon pollution and forcing unclean energy producers to pay for the mess they make, cap-and-trade will allow a small tribe of greedy-as-hell Wall Street swine to turn yet another commodities market into a private tax-collection scheme. This is worse than the bailout: It allows the bank to seize taxpayer money before it's even collected.
"If it's going to be a tax, I would prefer that Washington set the tax and collect it," says Michael Masters, the hedge-fund director who spoke out against oil-futures speculation. "But we're saying that Wall Street can set the tax, and Wall Street can collect the tax. That's the last thing in the world I want. It's just asinine."
Cap-and-trade is going to happen. [Ed. note - this was published yesterday.] Or, if it doesn't, something like it will. The moral is the same for all the other bubbles that Goldman helped create, from 1929 to 2009. In almost every case, the very same bank that behaved recklessly for years, weighing down the system with toxic loans and predatory debt, and accomplishing nothing but massive bonuses for a few bosses, has been rewarded with mountains of virtually free money and government guarantees - while the actual victims in this mess, ordinary taxpayers, are the ones paying for it.
It's not always easy to accept the reality of what we now routinely allow these people to get away with; there's a kind of collective denial that kicks in when a country goes through what America has gone through lately, when a people lose as much prestige and status as we have in the past few years. You can't really register the fact that you're no longer a citizen of a thriving first-world democracy, that you're no longer above getting robbed in broad daylight, because like an amputee, you still sort of feel things that are no longer there.
But this is it. This is the world we live in now. And in this world, some of us have to play by the rules, while others get a note from the principal excusing them from homework until the end of time, plus 10 billion free dollars in a paper bag to buy lunch. It's a gangster state, running on gangster economics, and even prices can't be trusted anymore; there are hidden taxes in every buck you pay. And maybe we can't stop it, but we should at least know where it's all going.

ok, so someone wrote about it, exposing the government for and by the corporation. Same as they did during the Bush years. Yet they never get the heat for more than a few days if even that. What's been your primary focus 3333? Getting the corporate controlled dems out of power so you can get the corporate controlled republicans in power and we can keep going back and forth until we're all complete slaves and finally just die... sounds like a blast.
I say forget the polititicans, it's time for a different strategy bigtime. All I know is the circle of shit we're doing now is nothing but a circle of shit and everyone is wasting their time in it.

I already showed you than in 2005 I was thrown off FR for telling the truth about W.
I believe in limited constitutionally controlled govt. Even "ugly freedom" is better than the "pristine security". That applies to money, free speech, etc. I do not believe in anarchy, but a much severely restrained govt. My views evolved greatly after seeing the damage W did.
I am not in favor of GOP right now. They are worthless. The politicians need to be stopped because they have the power to enrich these corps via tax code laws, regulations, etc. The pols and corps are in a co-dependent relationship where aeach relies on the other for power and money.
This is why I believe in strict term limits, a massive decrease in govt spending nad law making ability, ending of all subisidies to all corporations, etc.
If a company cant exist wo govt money, it should not exist. Additionally, the govt should not be picking winners and losers via the tax code and corrupt pork bills.

I think this is a cop out considering the style of your posts. I find it very hard to believe that your main focus is not getting the dems out of power to get the republicans in power. it sure seems like it to me. like it or not that's the cycle you're fully participating in. At least I'm trying to propose ideas they don't want us engaging in. What's going on now is both planned and expected just as the outcome is. They're playing us like a cheap fiddle. It's time to ignore them and figure out a different path, one not so easily anticpated and manipulated. I'm sick of watching this broken record spin.
