Every home in the country have speakers in them which broadcast messages from "The Dear Leader" on a regular basis - people have no freedom, they're starving, and there's basically no hope for anyone. Can't think of a more miserable place on earth.
Having said that, I'd imagine most countries in sub-saharan Africa are probably pretty miserable too.

Actually, high IQ correlates with quality of life in many areas, thus hiqh IQ folks "tend" to be happier than average folks.
People with high IQ = also more likely to be socially successful as well according to recent research.
