been posted but deserves a thread :)
Rush Was Punked: “Obama Thesis” Hoax
It must have seemed so perfect. An obscure blogger unearths some pages of President Obama's college thesis. The report supposedly comes from big-time journalist Joe Klein of Time magazine. And the thesis has some real gems: like Obama's disdain for the Constitution.
The whole thing was nothing more than a satirical post on a humor blog. But Rush Limbaugh, who quoted from the supposed thesis on his radio show, sure wasn't laughing. Here's how it went down.
An unknown blogger picked up on a made-up post meant as a joke, which claimed that Joe Klein had gotten his hands on 10 pages of student Obama's college thesis. Rush Limbaugh jumped on it, which immediately sparked Web searches on "obama thesis."
Supposedly titled "Aristocracy Revisited," the excerpt revealed the president had "doubts" about the "so-called founders." Juicy. Except not true. Limbaugh discovered halfway through his show that he'd been had, but defended himself by saying basically the thesis felt true. Listen in to Rush's mea sorta culpa.
Joe Klein finally jumped in, and called the report "nonsense" on his Swampland blog, and the blogger who thought the hoax was real also apologized.
Let's hope someone kept their sense of humor in all this. Still, for a humble post to go from humor blog to major media outlet sure seems impressive. Someone ought to write their thesis on it. For real.

thanks for the bullshit thread 3333. I know you need your 2 dozen daily quota of negative Obama threads but maybe you ought to check them out first. quality above quantity ;)
-
he met the one-poor-source-per-week quota.
it's saturday. I thought he was gonna miss it this week!

I guess that's not bad considering how much he posts. bound to get some wrong. this was a big one.
-
Rush got punked on this one too?
He has a responsibility to not just "roll with something sent in by a blogger..."
Cause you know there are millions of listeners telling this story at work or on forums.
And they aren't gonna say "my bad..." They'll just shrug and start another thread or convo.

yup, I doubt rush will say anything about this. both him and 3333 are just thinking that it doesn't matter because they feel it's true even if fiction.
-
it doesn't matter. the dumb asses will still believe it. ..
then the left will stereotype the right thinking they're all dumb asses.
endless cycle.
-
Total pwnge by the Obama Administration without lifting a finger.
Now let the typical bullshit spin and excuses or in 333's case - Palin picture posting spree - commence.
-
.
-
Agreed, he got taken on that one...has anyone seen his thesis?
Michele Obama's thesis is all about race.

that seems weird since we have no racial issues in this country and Michelle Obama is not a descendant of slaves on either side of her family

both are probably more reliable as a source of accurate info than Rush
think about it for more than 5 seconds before you respond and you'll know it's true

I dont listen to rush straw
yep that one story is why I stopped reading DailyKos - I just thought it was in really poor taste (and said so on this site at the time)
I'd guess 99% of their content is factual
Rush lies on a daily basis

this coming from the dude who quotes the national enquirer and the dailykos as reputable news sources ;)
I've admitted my douchiness in doing that last august/sept.
Since then, I've been really good. If I post a story, and some trick here calls me on it, I'll post it from 10 other newspapers.
Rush used a shady source. 33 now realizes that Rush is a shoddy source. That's why he's been on every other thread - but not this one.
-
Straw, the problem I see (particularly during the election) is that while it's not shocking Barack and Michelle surrounded themselves with racial issues & causes, pro-black and black libertarian leaders, etc but that's not who I would pick to lead the country. They chose to champion a certain segment of the population...and there's no problem with that, but it's not a fair base to represent all Americans and usher in an era of non-racial politics. 2 People who have championed the black community won't suddenly completely separate themselves from that focus.
Thats why their theses (plural) and their mentors and associates were important. I would never vote for someone who sat in Rev Wright's church for 20 years. That is a fringe group that is not appropriate for mainstream.
Out of curiosity, anyone hear more real info on Barack's thesis? While certainly less important now, still wonder what it was and why they tried so hard to hide it.
-
1. The only ones who have been punked are the obama voters like straw, 240, lurker, mons, etc.
2. Rush was not the source. I posted the thread before Rush was even on the radio. I posted the source.
3. Had Obama simply released ANY of his records, maybe these issues would not keep arising. Just to remind you fans of open government and knowing just who the fuck we have in office, Obama has not released the following:
Obama's records that are not released.
1. Occidental College records -- Not released
2. Columbia College records -- Not released
3. Columbia Thesis paper -- 'not available'
4. Harvard College records -- Not released
5. Selective Service Registration -- Not released
6. Medical records -- Not released
7. Illinois State Senate schedule -- 'not available'
8. Law practice client list -- Not released
9. Certified Copy of original Birth certificate - - Not released
10. Embossed, signed paper Certification of Live Birth -- Not released
11. Harvard Law Review articles published -- None
12. University of Chicago scholarly articles -- None
13. Your Record of baptism-- Not released or 'not available'
14. Your Illinois State Senate records--'not available'
4. Obama is already on record of saying the exact same freaking things AFTER he went to Columbia. He has never once disavoiwed these sentiments on these clips. Just for the posters here who have not heard these clips, listen again:
So maybe the story is fake but we cant tell because Obama has not authorized the release of any of his records. Neverthless, while it might not have been his college thesis, Obama's beliefs that the constitution is fatally flawed and that the warren court wat not radical enough because it did not accomplish redistribution of the wealth are both already on record in the clips I posted.

I could care less what either one of them wrote about in college.
I wrote a couple of papers on vegetarianism in college and I just got back from the store where I bought 2lbs of ground buffalo
-
I haven't released my college records on getbig.
So it's safe to say we can all assume I wrote my thesis on gerbil/Gere relationships.
LOL @ trying to justify Rush announcing outright false info by "well, since he hasn't released it, we really don't know..."

youre not paying attention straw, it isnt simply his or her thesis's its the pattern in which those writings coincide with.
even you cant deny that obama does seem to have problems with race in this country, which like shoot said is fine but when you are choosen to represent the ENTIRE US and youve been the champion of a certain group you really think he is going to stop?

I don't think Obama an "problems" with race in this country (whatever that means) but I'm sure he is well aware we still have racial issues
he's the first black POTUS for christ sakes.
I'm sure he's more tuned into the subject than you or I
What's your premise anyway?

I guess you never heard this one Straw -
"White executives dont want to pay taxes to help minority children go to school"
-
I guess you never heard this one Straw -
"White executives dont want to pay taxes to help minority children go to school"
that's silly
of course white executives (all executives really) care about minority children going to school.
we all know that
I have to disagree with Obama on this one
-
Obama said "inner city" not Minority ::) Stop the lies 333... And some of the stuff he said in that clip was spot on.

Than why did he say WHITE executives and not executives in general?

I don't expect more from you because you've come to show just how #$%@^ you are. He said WETHER you're are a white executive living in the suburbs. The clip then cut out the point and who else was on the list so you wouldn't hear the full context of what was said. Post the whole interview.

I'm not the one spinning, you are. You're delusional!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have a history of admitting when I'm wrong, people who spin don't ususally do that, they just spin but never admit being wrong. I can't know if I'm wrong here when it's obvious by his words that we need the full statement to make a judgement. That you were the one here willing to make a judgement without the full statement says you're more likely the person spinning it.
Enjoy.

LOL first of all he is as much white as he is black...
he is the first half black president of the united states, I myself am of mixed race straw and know very well the discrimination that occurs on a daily basis in this country.
my premise is that obama does have racial intentions in alot of his legislation, you cannot deny that the majority of the legislation thats been proposed is meant to disporpotionately help minorities.
Now yes he is a democrat and they always try to institute such things but the majority of them also dont have a past littered with racist events and ties.

one thing at a time instead of changing the subject. I really don't care about the rev write stuff anyway. I've listened to his stuff quite a bit and I've given my opinion on it at length.

I cant cut and paste it. It still smacks of utter nonsense to me.

That's a pretty big fuckup. So Rush isn't any better than the majority of retards on here who try to pass off opinion and websites as fact.
Here is the problem:
1. He has never released any records whatsoever from any school and college he attended.
2. He expresses these exact same sentiments in the clips I posted above - AFTER he attended Columbia.

EOB: I’m wondering if the ethnically-mixed couple of today, if when their child is thirty-four years old, if they’ll fnd it any easier to deal with these issues than you have found it?
Obama: That’s an interesting question. I’m not sure. I think in some ways there’s less novelty to the idea of mixed couples. They’re not seen as lurid or perverse in ways that I think they were thirty years ago. I think that this country is inevitably going to be undergoing changes simply due to demographics. There’s been a lot of talk about the “browning of America” ..
EOB: I was just going to use that same phrase ...
Obama: ... and I think that is going to be happening. We can’t ignore it. I think whether or not my children or your children will have to struggle with these same issues depends on what we do, and whether we take some mutual responsibility for bridging the divisions that exist right now. And I really want to emphasize the word “responsibility.” I think that whether you are a white executive living out in the suburbs, who doesn’t want to pay taxes to inner-city children for them to go to school, or you’re an inner-city child who doesn’t want to take responsibility for keeping your street safe and clean, both of those groups have to take some responsibility if we’re going to get beyond the kinds of divisions that we face right now
HA!!!! So the context is important, what do you know there 3333 ;)
He was asked a question dealing with racial issues. Of fucking course he's going to be addressing individuals that need to work together. It's not just any white exec 3333, he's specifically talking to a certain group of those. He's saying in this that both sides have a responsibility to bridge divisions. Yet the quote you posted leaves out the part that allows this context to be understood. Now who was spinning 333? I'm happy to admit and would have admitted here if I were wrong. I was not, will you do the same?

Its still pure garbage. We pay taxes to school districts to educate our kids. Parents obviously have to take a huge role in their own childrens' education as well. But people who are paying 40% of their income already in taxes should not be asked by anyonew to do more. When is enough enough for people like Obama?
He wants to trash business people as being greedy, but the same can be said of people like him who keep demanding that others do more and more and more for no other reason than "they feel they should"

you're arguing the issue of what he said which is not what we were talking about. You at least have to own up to being wrong in painting Obama as launching a racial attack here when he was asked to address the issue. You were wrong about the quote, own it or be the one here that's spinning, and you are.
Also if you want to talk about the issue of what he's talking about, it's probably something to do with districting issues and all that where it's arranged so that the hardest living inner city is left high and dry while the surrounding districts have it way better. And he also calls out the inner city people saying they have to do more but you have nothing to say about that. All you see is what's wrong with what Obama says. You're the biggest pundit on the board and the MOST willing to spin.

Hugo - up until reading this i never saw the full interview. Either way, his injecting race into it by saying white executives dont want to pay taxes to help inner city kids is pure speculation and nonsense on his part.
As far as education goes, it has nothing to do with money. Its a cultural thing, a parenting thing, and Teachers' unions things, etc. I see these kids every day walking around my hood like little beasts. They are mostly wastes of space and wannabe thugs, harassing business owners, etc. I know of teachers who tell me the most unbelievable things that these kids do. It starts at home, and most of these kids have horrible parents to begin with.
More money does not equal more learning. We spend more money on education and get far worse results than other countries who spend a fraction of what we do.
What we need to do is promote cultural change and not applaud the thug culture in a lot of inner cities. I live in the Bronx so i know a thing or two about the inner city. i have lived in it my entire life.
-
LOL, you call him out for injecting race when the question WAS race issues and how to overcome them so that people won't have the same problems tomorrow that they had yesterday. You're fucking priceless 333, you really are...
Then you're like, "more money does not equal more learning" when in fact Obama in this very quote calls the inner city out as needing to do more. Fucking priceless. Call out Obama on what he actually said as though he didn't even say it.
You my friend are impossible.

I am calling him out on what he said, but so far I have not seen too much of him calling out people in the inner cities for their crap.
I have lived in the bronx my whole life and am sick of the inner city. most of these people dont need scapegoats, but a boot in the ass.
-
33 you just got shit all over. I don't mean a little "oh I stepped in poo" kind of shit, but you got SHIT ON. Totally. Head to toe.
Instead of washing it off and moving along by admitting you were wrong, you instead decided to wallow in it by trying to spin and justify your (and Rush's) silly position and pwnage.
Not a smart move. Take a hint from Palin and just quit. It would help.

So.... it's okay to post complete lies - then just call it "SATIRE"
Later in the program, Limbaugh learned the report was a fake and alerted his listeners. But he insisted the fabricated thesis was still in line with what the president thinks, the New York Daily news reported.

Ok. This story was wrong. However, the charge of what was said is accurate.
Its like someone accusing someone else of saying "you wrote that you hate black people"
The accused says: "No I didnt write that, but i said it twice in interviews"
The story is wrong, but his claims that the constitution and nation have fatal flaws is accurate.

lol, keep rubbing your face in it 3333, funny shit. Justify it with your video clip of quotes out of context lol... Go clean yourself up now before it gets all over the forum.

Isn't about time to pull up the "wright card" again?

Ok. This story was wrong.
This is where your response should have stopped. Instead you blather on and do nothing show how feverishly you need to "explain" why you were wrong so that it "will be" right.

They can't. Lurker and his types guys don't explain anything. All they look for is the next "gotcha" moment. They're too excited about the story turning out to be fake to engage in anything of substance. It's why George Bush threads still pop up here all the time.

Yet the quote you posted leaves out the part that allows this context to be understood. Now who was spinning 333? I'm happy to admit and would have admitted here if I were wrong. I was not, will you do the same?

when did Obama say that??
-
33386 can probably find the link but I have heard similar sound clips.
I know he said the civil rights movement did not go far enough because it didn't address redistribution enough. I see the argument in favor of it (and in the 60s I probably would have been a civil rights supporter too) but do not agree in taking from one group and giving to another.
Rush got it wrong on that one. But when you look at everything as a whole, you can't separate Obama from where he came from and the liberal extremists and hardball Chicago groups that helped his ascent to power. We can argue about 1 detail or another, but you look at everything together...like having a study with a couple people vs a study with hundreds or thousands. There's more power and predictability when you look at his quotes, votes, chosen associates, etc together. The campaign did a great job in portraying Obama in a way that is different than you'd believe based on his past and his rise to political power. It's clear he is a progressive liberal who champions the poor and the minorities disproportionally, I don't care what they tried to make us believe in the election...this is his general philosophy as defined by his actions and his history. It's not a bad thing...but it shouldn't be disguised either.

They can't. Lurker and his types guys don't explain anything. All they look for is the next "gotcha" moment. They're too excited about the story turning out to be fake to engage in anything of substance. It's why George Bush threads still pop up here all the time.
::)
Try again when you have something of more substance.

I tried, but I read all your posts and couldn't find any.

Do you agree with obama that our nation is fatally flawed because the constitution did not include re-distribution of wealth? YES or NO?
show me the full quote in context
thanks

Did you listen to the two clips?

Did you listen to the two clips?
no - I'll listen to them later
show me the full quote where Obama says "our nation is fatally flawed because the constitution did not include re-distribution of wealth?"

The first clip says the the constituion is political document that "represents the fatal flaws of this nation that we carry to this day".
The second one is longer and says that the Warren Court was not radical enough because it did not address "redistributive justice" in terms of intepretation of the constitution.

great
find me the full text of the quote where Obama says "our nation is fatally flawed because the constitution did not include re-distribution of wealth?"
find me the text of either of the quotes that are in your clips.
the last quote that got you so disturbed was perfectly fine when seen in it's larger context (such as the sentence before and after the friggin quote -not to mention the other dialogue)

It is disturbing in any context IMHO. He makes assumptions about people that he really is in no position to make. just like the Gates affair, just like the doctors lopping ofr feet for money, just liekt he doctors stealing tonsils, etc.

ok - well you're certainly entitled to your opinion
if you're trying to change my opinion then show me the full quote
The last quote is fine when you hear even that tiny sliver of context that Hugo provided

Straw, he is quoted that the Waren Court did not go far enough because it didn't address redistributive justice. That defines itself.
He's also talked about spreading the wealth around numerous times. Why is it so hard for some to believe he is a progressive liberal? Redistributing wealth is a progressive liberal philosophy...it's not an insult and you can decide for yourself if you are for or against it. We redistribute wealth already with a progressive taxation system, I suppose it's a matter of degree thats most debated.

rather than tell me what he said why don't you find me the full text to read.
I'd like to make my own decision of what it means rather then your paraphrase and interpretation
that's all I ask
thanks

I tried, but I read all your posts and couldn't find any.
There was no need to prove you had nothing to post. We already knew that.
Again, come back when you have some substance. Thanks for playing.

I heard the quote on a radio station. They played his full responce from the interview. That statement was reflective of his whole answer and it isn't necessarily bad, just what he believes.
I understand what you're asking for and agree that statements are often taken out of context (but I am too lazy today to go through clips).
I think Obama is a good guy, certainly smart, polished, good dad from what we know and an example to many. I respect where he is coming from...I just don't agree with his basic philosophy or the proposed strategies of most progressive liberals to acheive their idea of fairness.

Again, these fools in the media knocking Rush are the same tools that STILL believe Dan Rathers doctored documents story despite it being PROVEN to be a lie.Its a joke.
