Since you first started taking your training seriously what is the longest you have gone without training at all, no weights or cardio?
For me, I take a couple weeks off a couple times a year.
-
3 months or 91.3105497 days no time during the summer :(

been training since age 15.now I'm 33.took a little over a year off once and took 1-2 months off a few times other than that pretty steady....out of 18 years of training I'd say I have takin 2 years off if I added up all the breaks....
-
Lifted weights when i was 12-13 then stopped untill i was 17, now im 19 and been lifting almost 2 years consistantly with never more than the rare 1 week break.
Lifetime Straight Edge.

16 months about 2 years back. I dropped about 30lbs and got softer, but my athletic ability improved a bit. All the gains +5 lbs came back in about 2 months when I came back to the gym...

I am on my four month. I tore up my shoulder and had to have surgery to repair it. No weight training for five to six months. I am starting to go a little crazy

you can still train the other side to an extent, and do legs with machines.

like 20lbs, it came back in about 2 or months . and yes its much easier to gain what you have lost than the first time

Can't do any leg training that puts any pressure on my back and/or across the shoulder which only leave leg extensions. They had to anchor my shoulder with pins in addition to other things. I still do cardio on a stationary bike.

5 monthes had a hip replacement that went bad got infected so i had no hip or thigh bone only a spacer in my one leg, would have still trained but had tubes in my arms to feed antibiotics through my heart and doc said don't move around too much because tube went to my heart. was lots of fun. then i needed the other hip replaced but i trained through that one only no leg work. i'm feeling much better now, only have high blood pressure brought on by the stresssssss.

Took one whole year off in 17 years. Didn't lose anything, just gained bodyfat.
I was originally 185 @ 9% bodyfat for over 5 years. The year I took off I stayed very active but I didn't really hit the weights. I did a lot of pushups, chins and dips at home, but nothing serious or consistent.
I ballooned up to 210 at 20% bodyfat. I also started drinking Coke (the beverage ;D) and eating a shitload of fast food. I also ate a lot of ice cream and Sees candy.
Once I got back into the gym after this year of layoff, I got down to 190 at 17% bodyfat with just small changes in the diet. No more soda, but also no cardio.
Now I am at 188 @ 10% bodyfat. Diet is clean most everyday and I do about 2 hours a week on the recumbent bike at home. Low intensity, long duration works just fine for me. I usually watch a movie while I'm doing the cardio.
I suppose I lost a little strength in that year also, but nothing like most gymrats would expect. I still always looked like I worked out.
I won't do that again unless I get sick or something stupid happens.
If you made good solid gains in the first place, you don't just lose it overnight. You do cover the muscle with a layer of fat and water though...
