Title: List your Gym battle wounds
Post by: Boost on November 03, 2009, 09:01:23 AM
Iron Warriors know the route to pumped arms and tight abs is littered with potential hazards.

Lets here about the beatings you've taken in order to achieve those killer guns....

Tendonitis
Two rotator cuff tears
Pec tear
mini bicep tear
strained calves
ruptured spleen
dislodged vertebrae
multiple hernias requiring emergency surgery
late onset diabetes due to insulin use
(mild) acromelalgia (prolonged GH use)
Dozens of violent food poisoning incedents due to poorly prepared chicken and fish meals

4 minor soleus tears
1 major hamstring tear
more herniated dics and bulges than I can begin to count, which resulted in
loss of feeling and function in my left leg
impingement syndrome in both of my shoulders
lateral epicondilitis in forearms(sp?)
Chronic elbow pain

....pretty much all of this shiite is takin care of now.  Leg is still now 100% back, and there are little twinges here and there, but that's much more comfortable than I've been in the past.

Slipped a disc in my neck doing shrugs.

How heavy did you go and witch kind of shrugs did you do?

Sometimes I wonder if this will happen when I do behind the neck barbell shrugs. I really try to focus when doing shrugs.

When did you get your first rotator cuff problems?

The older I get the more warm up sets I try to do.

I'll start on a warm up set with the bar, then 65, 95, 135, 185, 225 and then go from there.

It seems to have helped me out alot with some pains here and there.

I developed this injury last June in national powerlifting championship. I felt the pain when I first failed the 3rd attempt of squat and then it teared on the bench press...

Kinda tweaked my neck doing behind the back shrugs on smith.  Hurt for several weeks, I think that was the worst one.

Side question:  When you slip a disc in your neck, does it hurt?  And can you actually feel with your hand that it is out of it's "spot."

- twice hurt my back doing heavy squats.
- pec tear
- knee soreness
- 2 x hurt shoulder
- strained lat/shoulder when doing chin ups
- strained hamstring doing squats

Nowadays I work on mostly machines since they are safer and I'm not trying to break any records but just keep in shape. Also very strict with my form.

one time when I was squatting 760 lbs for 54 reps I fucked up my toe.  Hurt like a bitch but I got over it after my workout protein shake.  All in the gym rallied around me for support.  It was a nice thought but wasn't needed.
