about fucking time
Muhammad was sentenced to death for killing Dean Harold Meyers at a Manassas gas station during a three-week spree that left 10 dead across Maryland, Virginia and Washington, D.C.
He and his teenage accomplice, Lee Boyd Malvo, also were suspected of fatal shootings in other states, including Louisiana, Alabama and Arizona.
The shootings terrorized the Washington region, with victims gunned down while doing everyday chores like shopping or pumping gas. People stayed indoors. Those who had to go outside weaved as they walked or bobbed their heads to make themselves less of a target.
The terror ended on Oct. 24, 2002, when police captured Muhammad and Malvo as they slept at a Maryland rest stop in a car they had outfitted so a shooter could hide in the trunk and fire through a hole in the body of the vehicle. Malvo is serving a life sentence in Virginia

Good ! people say the death penalty isn't a deterrent that may be true however it's once less criminal we have to support for the rest of his life

Death penalty isn't a deterrent (and never will be) and putting someone to death is way more expensive than housing them for life, but I will won't protest the execution of a person like this.

Do you mean from the legal costs of all the appeals etc?
-
This is unconstitutional, but scum like that stick them in a cell. Solitary 23.5 hours a day for the rest of his life, no human contact.

i agree with you on an emotional level, but in the end that doesn't acheive anything....unless it acts as a deterrent.
-
Do you mean from the legal costs of all the appeals etc?
That's exactly it. Some of these appeals last for twenty years, use up who-knows-what-legal-resources or special housing(s) (and I live in a town of multiple maximum security prisons) so I know how the machine works.
-

dude you have a sick and warped mind ;D ;D

Could fix that. Do it quickly and publicly.

Um, you mean like Saudi Arabia!? KSA triceps? any thoughts?

One thing Islam got right is their eye for an eye sense of justice
If this was Iran, this guy would have had a bullet in his skull two days after he was caught.

gruesome punishment a la stoning?
-
Sometimes you just have to take a hit to your wallet to make the world a better place.
What would be better:
1) This lunatic walking around taking people out with his rifle on a daily basis...
2) Having him locked up for life soaking up millions of peoples dollars and being able to enjoy a good daily dump...or
3) Having him executed and not only just being "done with it" and taking a bit of an extra stress out of everyone's lives....as well as taking his killing gene out of the pool.
If you don't want to do the time (and punishment knowing it's death), don't do the crime.
-
He should be executed just for having the name "Muhammed".
-

Devils Island would be more touture than just being "put to sleep" without feeling pain.
-
the death penalty isnt just about deterrence
you are overlooking
protecting society from this person who is deemed not redeemable
and
retribution
deterrence is only one aspect of penalties death or prison time...
-
he won't recover...true nutcase to the end...
-
This is unconstitutional,
You're getting gayer, if that was possible. :-\
Public executions, hold it in a stadium and sell PPV tickets to give the families of the victims $$ and to help pay for the costs.
Damn I'm a genius. 8)

as seen on Fox's new show "World's Most Deadly Executions"

I'm not saying im against it, im saying that is the reason that a punishment like that will never happen. It goes against the 8th Amendment. That is a fate worse than death. No light, no human contact, not knowing what day or even year it is. After a week you would be begging for the needle.
-
I'm not saying im against it,
Oh, then you're not getting gayer, you're as gay as normal. :)

wish him 40 virgins... ::)
-
I'm quite impressed they actually killed him so quick - normally I hear about guys on death row in the US being there for 20+ years - I mean, what the fuck are they waiting for?
I think it is a deterrent and they should bring the death penalty in in the UK for the worst offenders whom it can be proved that they were the killer(s) beyond any reasonable doubt. We're too soft in the UK on criminals - most of them get 10 years for murder and they're out in five for good behaviour to go back out on the streets and kill again.

I wish I could be an executioner, killing child rapists etc, would have been wonderful,
And If they were normal rapist, I would whisper in their ear (i think you did the right thing) then kill them

seriosuly, good job from the cops for finding em.
-

It's usually because there are a ton of appeals. As soon as someone starts to gear up to have him meet his maker, he'll appeal the death sentence, or file something with his lawyers. This can happen for years and years. That's usually why they're on death row. As well as the state they're in may not actually have an active death penalty. So they might have been sentenced to death when the death penalty was in effect, but many states stopped killing inmates because people feel it's unjust for them to be killed. So again, they stay on death row till they die of natural causes.

can you Imagine the stress of being on death row though?
Wondering each day for 20 years if this is the last one etc.
-
had to think of christian bale in harsch times, also an iraq veteran who went berserk.

I think once you get there and are there for a number of weeks, depending on the current state you live in, you realize it will take a long long time before you are executed.
So, instead of thinking "is today going to be my last?" you're more likely to think "Is this going to be the last month I'm alive?"
There have been a number of cases where guys are about ready to be put in the chair or injected and before the day he's supposed to get it, he has an appeal and the red tape stops it from ever happening. 20yrs later he may still be waiting death. Lately, I notice there's less of that. It's like some people are actually getting tired of it and just saying "Off with his head!" and no more appeals, no more bullshit. He's in the chair a day later and dead like he was sentenced to be decades before.

I remember the day after "Tookie" was executed, one of my coworkers sent out this e-mail to everyone that had all the letters running together: DEVILSAYTOOKIETASTELIKEC HICKEN ("Devil say Tookie taste like chicken.") I don't know why, but almost everyone laughed.

To be fair to UHC, it was as much a problem with working in a call center as it was UHC.
Call centers are perfect for some folks, but just not for me. My job involved taking 120-150 calls per day, back to back.

I went through that with AT&T. I supported Corporate users in IT and you would think that they would treat their co-workers better than the average bum on the street.
Call centers are stressful. I cussed out a bunch of people who thought they owned the company. Fuck them.

well, back in some island nations, when you're sentenced to death, they tie you up with used tires and lit your ass on fire in a public place. I'd say this has got to be one of the best way to take the useless life of a criminal... 8) 8)
