When I got back in the gym I was 282 pounds. I got down to 257 and lost a couple inches off my waist. I now have shot back up to 270 but lost another 3 inches off my waist. WTF. Only major changes are heavy training again, upped my protein to 350 grams per day and drink a shot glass full of olive oil every day. Any thoughts?

Sounds good to me. You've probably put on a bit of muscle, and water weight. If you are losing inches off your waist....fucking awesome!
-
You may have put on some lean muscle, stud. Smaller waist, yet weight goes up = on the right path. Good job.
-
When you start training the muscles always gather some water.

just seems a little dramatic--I mean I still am way to fat, but the change seems like to much. Especially at my age

Hey man, don't knock it! I'd love to lose 3" off my waist, yet gain 10 lbs..... only other explanation is maybe your measurements are/were off on the waist thing....either way, sounds like you are making some good progress.....don't stress it.

Agree with the above posts..I got friends that are obsessed with the scale...weight doesn't mean shit..unless you have to make weight for a specific event..bodyfat should be the main concern..if the scale says the same number as it did a month ago, but you look alot tighter, that means you lost fat and gained muscle. So props on the progress Avesher!

your eating meat is mesing with your head you fat bastard meat = eat m = eat me if you do what it says your doomed. our body wasnt designed to eat meat just olive oil, beer and sea salt. stop eating animals that eat you once inside your lower intestine and cause cancer. become a true master by following the failurecon

cut back on protien as far as meat, increase the olive oil servings also increase junkfood that doesnt have trans fats. Olive oil will improve insulin sensitivity and decrease your insulin resistance thus allowing you to become stronger in the process with better nutrient partioning

There is a basis for his olive oil ramblings http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/7711296 (http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/7711296), that doesn't mean you have to go apeshit with the olive and fish oil.
