As some of you fine gents might recall, a couple of years ago, the gym manager, Bruno, at the gym I frequent decided to divide the gym into sub 200lb male members and full grown men. The results have been remarkable. Many tiny twinks did quit, but the ones who stayed would work their tiny little tails off and Bruno's protein shake sales went thru the roof as they tried to "make weight."
I would encourge you guys to suggest this to your gym. Gives the little guys a place to workout and gives the full grown men more room without worrying about hurting one of the little fellas.

No, no Tombo. It's a great motivational tool. Maybe have the gym owners check before hand, as I wouldn't want them to get into trouble.

haha, yes tbombz. Bruno is a bit more subtle. He has one area labeled with a "free weight" sign and the other with a "classes" sign......if the little guys try to come into the free weight area he politely directs them to the "classes" side. It's for the best.

Is there a stipulation about body fat %? You could have some ripped 185 guys in the girl section and sloppy fat 200 pound guys training with the men.

Bruno doesn't tolerate guys getting too fat. There is a fine line in that regard, but we trust his judgement. And the 185 lb guy would just need to put on that 15 lbs and he would be good to go.

Shit, I hover around 200lbs. But that's with over 15% bf, ripped I can out mass guys 6ft 220lbs. While I am only 175lbs. But I am also short.

Short of getting fat there are some guys that will never see 200 lbs. Often the only difference between a 230 lb perma bulker and a ripped 190 lb guy is bodyfat . I think there should be a strength criteria as well as weight.

Well, the system is working quite well. The little guys are motivated to work hard and the bigger guys give them words of encouragement thru the glass viewing area. It seems to pump them up pretty good.

180lbs. Get your facts straight. :P Nah, it would just irritate me that I wouldn't have access to the same equipment as others just because I have a six pack, regardless if I'm more intense/focused with my workout, as strong, or stronger in some of my lifts.

The little guy area is mainly stretch tubes, swiss balls and a chinup station. It does have DB's that go all the way up to 50lbs though. More than enough.

This is a great idea I need to suggest it to my gym, although they'll probably throw me out as they're a "health club" now. Would be nice to just work out with some guys who actually look like they lift and aren't taking my bench with their 30lbs dumbbell chest presses.

My gym is tiny - people range from a 100lb max bench to maybe 400lbs. Its so small so everyone knows and gets on with each other.

My gym there's only 20 or so and I'm thinking that's because a lot of them like to stay low key and lift in their daddy's garage.
You must live in a small town.....here we have around 50 or so 17yr old HS kids throwin' up 500lbs.....no problem.

semi-serious: If a rule like this were to ever be placed in a gym wouldn't it be better to use pounds lifted in certain exercises? There are plenty of guys in the gym FATTER than I am that I am much stronger than. I am quite sure this is the case for a lot of guys here.

Sometimes, I see them doing assisted donkey calf raises, and they often stack two or three on top of each other doing pushup off of the swiss ball. Plus, once in awhile Bruno will let them borrow a couple of 45lb plates....

Over 90% of "grown men"(200 lb +) in ANY gym I've ever been in are either sloppy fat, delusional permabulkers, or lazy short cutters who are gassed and still look like complete shits. I'll happily keep my lean 185-190 away from teh delusional f$ktards....funny thing is that 90% of time I'm stronger than these "grown men" on all lifts. This Bruno guy sounds like a major egotistical meathead.

Yeah, sadly this IS true. I am pretty sure this is a "comedy" post though. The even funnier thing is these 200+ monsters you are describing will look at us "twinks" with with lean 180-190lb athletic greek god-like physique and accuse us of being on something. Don't get me wrong, there ARE guys over 200+ that make you go "holy crap I want to hit the sauce" but they are rare.
