Title: After 2 years... Brandon Curry to finally step onstage
Post by: 240 is Back on November 23, 2009, 05:09:09 PM
Branden Curry will be doing the PBW Championships in Tampa in Summer 2010.

bob chic says he seems pissed off, chomping at the bit to get onstage.

will have waited 2+ years since winning pro card when he finally gets onstage.

Dieting down IMHO is just as important for muscular growth as bulking. I always experience my best growth a month or 2 post show.

"Bulking" is not necessary for muscular growth. Anything 15-20lbs (20lbs is pushing it) over competition weight would add very little if anything to enhance muscular growth.

Gaining fat isn't necessary at all, other than getting out of the single digit bodyfat so you don't lose muscle if you miss a meal etc. and of course you gain water back. The reason is, body adjusts consumption when it senses it needs to build muscle, and with those extra calories you can build muscle, and no fat gained. Some people just don't get this.  ;) They talk about some universal constants or something, that energy can't come from nowhere yada yada yada...  ::)

so you are saying the body can make the muscle in caloric surplus or deficit?

No, what I'm saying is that you don't have to be a fat slob to add muscle.

Justin harrris/troponin said in his book that 10 to 12% BF is optimal for new muscle gain.

My definition of bulking is the relaxed period in the offseason where one eats a cheat meal twice a week. You are correct.

Yep, my heaviest was 235. I had not competed in almost 18 years. When I did decide to compete again I started dieting at 232 and 18 weeks later I was on stage at 195 at pre-judging and 205 at the night show. It was bitch not dieting for so long and coming down to that. Now I stay around 205-210.

Those fat cells multiply when left to their own devices for long periods of time and are extremely difficult to lose.

It was a bitch and I'm not the best person to be around on a diet. Thats probably why I waited 18 years.

Gaining fat is definitly not necessary for muscle gain.

I do get fat every off-season tho, especially now, because I am a lazy piece of shit  ;D
And also because I know I won't compete for 2-3 years so I enjoy life while I am young
