As a matter of fact they do if you take a look at the bottom right hand corner. Let me tell you something pal I'd cut that shit out unless you're in a power rack cause I can guaran-fucking-tee that the kid behind you can't do a 485 lb upright row.
A spot like that only works if you can actually bench the weight so in case you do bottom out you'll only need "some" assistance to get the bar racked.

They do. Many turks use that trick to stuff the bar full of 25lb plates as it looks more. ;D

im trying to increase power right now, i went from a 315 for reps bench to a 405 bench clean no spot last thursday. tomorrow im gonna try to get a triple or a double with it, then next week im gonna try 465.

I do all power movements first in any training I do. In my bench (for this cycle since I've only been back for 5 weeks) I keep my reps between 1-3. As an example, week 1 regular bench six sets wide finishing with 435lbs, 4 sets close grip, week 2 - 6 sets board press 4 sets speed work w/bands, close grip press, week 3 - Board press with band resistance finish with no board. week 4 - Reverse band press, 6 sets to 500lbs. (I missed it this week) 4 sets close grip press using a football bar.
I will go into supplemental lifts later.

why did you use a band? that is what i was wanting explained.
ive been increasing my power mainly by doing singles double and triples. working with heavy poundages around 85-95% of 1 rep max. and using a spotter to go past failure and get a few assisted reps (negatives) on each set. and doing several sets that way. fully exhausting all the strength fibers.
after i do the strength workout, i go into more isolation movements and focus on higher reps, around 8. still going to failure or just short of it.

Trying to show of at a random gym among random people is like going to a kindergarten and compete with the children in mathematics. Everyone can be a strong gym rat. Join a powerlifting competition if u want to show of your strength. There u have men who care for strength, compete with those guys.
