An hour?  Two?  How long should a bodybuilder nap to optimize anabolism and minimize catabolism?

I would say about 15 minutes per inch of penile length.

Even a 15-20min nap can provide benefits, and refresh you.
I'll generally take as long of a nap as I can, around an hour if time permits. But I will end up feeling groggy if I do that, at least at times I do.

I think i read somewhere that naps over 30 mins can actually leave you feeling kind of groggy as the body moves into a deeper state of sleep or something.

An REM cycle takes about 90 minutes, I think it has something to do with that.  I read somewhere that you're supposed to sleep in 90-minute intervals.

I nap after lunch      it recharges my batteries.   Working, going to school and working out is really draining.

I agree. In addition to my nightly 12 hour slumber to maximize muscular and cns recovery from my brutal training sessions and high calorie diet, I find that two 90 minute naps each day further accelerate the anabolic / anticatabolic processes. These muscle snoozes assist greatly with optimizing the body's secretions of gh and testosterone.

I should also add that during the night I get up at least once to drink a protein shake, and I'm thinking that perhaps even that is not enough, despite the fact that I have a shake with slower acting protein right before bed, and a fast acting whey / creatine / high GI carb shake first thing in the morning, about 30-60 minutes before breakfast.

I initially considered getting up every three hours during the night for a shake, but quickly dismissed that - it would start to interfere with sleep and recovery. So I'm in the early stages of developing a sort of portable time released iv device that would keep the body infused with the proper ratios of muscle building nutrients and hormones. Stay anabolic 24/7, and never have to worry about going catabolic again! Anyone want to get in on this with me? $ ;D

It's actually not a dumb question. Napping is very anabolic and great to re-energize yourself.

I get up at 2:30am, do my work through the day, hit the gym, and by the time I'm home around 2pm I'm fried. If I don't get/take a nap, I'm falling asleep at 5-6pm.
Naps are actually more natural for the body, more natural than you trying to fit in at GetBig, hossie.

Its VERY hard for me to take naps, just never works, I have to be EXTREMELY exhausted and lacking sleep to nap - so rare!

i advise you not to take any daytime naps, it will fuck up your biologic clock and the nightsleep in the long run.

Choking and being rushed to ER and nearly dying repeatedly has to be a very catabolic experience. Did she try a funnel?

I have a better way.
