I was at Wal-Mart last night buying paper towels and cleaning supplies.I never buy my food there, I go to Fresh and Easy, because they have better food. When it comes to household items and cleaning supplies, Wal-mart does have the best prices.\
Well this guy comes in with atleast 40 coupones and 30 differnt adds from other stores. He is rude to the cashier, calling him stupid, and then proceeds to tell everyone he drives a lexus and makes 6 figures a year....Out loud
Now if the guy said, you know ,I don't have alot of money and times are tough, I would have been polite to him and said I understand. Heck if he was humble and admitted he was low on cash, I would have given him the $15-$20 he saved, Just to speed up the line and help out a guy in need..I do make 6 figures a year, and there was a time I was in line and a young single mother was trying to buy formula for her baby and her debit card wouldn't go through. So I paid her bill for her, and she started crying. Her husband just left her and she had no money. So I have compassion for people who have hardships, but this guy was an arrogant prick.

So you're upset that he wasted your time? Ever heard of moving to a different register? Every Walmart I've been in usually has 10+ registers open at any given time. You sound like a douche.

I am in the check out line, and this guy has a coupon for every item he buys and a newspaper add for advertised special of other stores because Wal-mart I guess price matches. This I didn't know. This went on for about 20 minutes.I finally said to the guy, why don't you just use your time more wisely and make more money. He then said, I drive a Lexus.I reply, if you drive a Lexus ,you would know time is money, and all the time your spending looking through adds, and cutting coupons, you could be coming up with other business ideas. He then said I save $200 per month doing this.,lol.I say $200 a month isn't worth all the trouble your causing yourself or other people in line.I said your probably spend 4-8 hours a months clipping coupons. He then replies, I make 6 figures, and I have twins ,so I need to be wise about my money.I then just say,the math doesn't add up.Now I didn't say this but if he makes 6 figuers which is a $100,000 a year, if he saves $200 a month that is $2400 a year.If you do the math that is only 2.4% of his income he is saving.Plus if you do the math even further a $100,000 a year adds up to about $50 an hour. That would mean that by clipping all those coupons he is actually losing money in time, lol.
I shut up after his last comment, and as he was leaving, I said they make great medication for people with ADD, and mental health issues.
I am not a rude person but this guy was an asshole to the checker, and even after he checked out pulled out a $1 coupon for Capri Sun and wanted a $1 from his purchase after the associate already gave him his receipt. They had to call over a manger to do an over ride. This guy held up the line for 20 minutes and I kid you not 20 diffrent store fliers and atleast 40 coupons, and all he saved was $15.
Then has the nerve to tell me he makes 6 figures and drives a Lexus.lol ....Yeah Right.

You may want to reread or rewrite your story; as written, you are the one who sounds like the arrogant prick. :-\

Good stuff.. that crap pisses me off when I see it and then they have the nerve to pretend to have money. Yeah, a lot of these dopes make close to 6 figures then are up to thier eyeballs in debt form buying an eight hundred thousand dollar house, two thousand dollar wheels on thier eighty thousand dollar SUV with another two thousand worth of flatscreens in it. Blows my mind.

I remember a few weeks ago I posted I was looking for video and needed help and I didn't want to go over a certain amount, I caught a lot of shit just because I make good money I guess that meant I had to buy a high dollar video camera.
Hey GetItOnNY, have you ever though about WHY that guy is driving a Lexus?

thats because video cameras is one one those things that worth spending a little bit more on, or else you will end up having to buy a new one within the year anyway =)

My wife is the coupon cutting queen, he'd hate to be in the same line as her. She went shopping Friday the total came to about $180.00 then she broke out the coupons and promptly saved $67.00.
-
I know some people like that. There's this one guy who makes a good living, but wouldn't hesitate to walk 3 miles just to pick up a penny he'd dropped on the way.
-
Bay, I was polite to the guy.He was rude and pushy to the Wal-mart clerk. He held up the line for 20 minutes and it was last so there was only 2 other registers open .One was a 10 items or less, and I had more then 10 items. If the guy said he didnt have alot of money or had hard times I would have had compassion. Then he brags about his car and how much money he makes.Everybody in line laughed at him when he made those ridiculous comments.
Bay if the guy has hard times and said, I just had twins and I am over my head in bills. No, But instead he was rude to the checker, even calling him stupid and bragging about how much money he makes.
Bay if the guy said, he was low on money, I would have bought his groceries for him.I donate money and time every week at my church at the store we have.
Our church store gives out food and all kind of itmes to people who have hardships. We serve about 200 plus people at a time.We help out alot of familes with food, toilet paer, shaving cream tooth paste, you name it.The best part about it is its all free.So I do help out those who are in need.
I beleive in paying it forward

IMO you have to look at this way, no matter how much money you make you never know when it might run out. I'm an impulsive shopper and if wasn't for my wife I would probably buy what ever I saw and be broke. My wife is the saver and I'm the spender, I'm getting better tho :-\

Nice effort. It seems like you put a lot of thought into your post. That said, you are an idiot of the highest caliber. I've read your posts for sometime now and not only are you not capable of putting a coherent sentence together, you go on and on about topics/situations that make you look like a buffoon and a jackass.
Judging by your post, I'll tell you why YOU are losing tens of thousands of dollars per year in revenue. First, your lack of judgement your extreme arrogance and impatience is quite apparent. Who the hell are you to tell this guy he can or can't take an extended amount of time with his coupons? That's his right and the way you dealt with the situation says a lot about you as a person. I'd be safe to assume that your idiocy runs into your work, so one could assume that you treat your customers and competition with the same type of braindead logic as you showcased in your post. I'd wager most of your competitors and clients think you are a arrogant know it all, with little to no ability to influence people into your way of thinking, the right way.
I don't know how anyone could take you serious. If I got an email from you, I'd think a 4 year old typed it up.

I use coupons too but I keep them organized in a book and pass them along after my stuff is rung up. Doesn't hold up the line one bit.

I think it also has to do with how you earn your money. Folks on a fixed income or salary are a bit more structured with their spending and perhaps, thrifty too. People who are in business and have uneven flow of money are more random with how they spend and save.
Women, on average, are also better than men when it comes to managing their money.

Fair enough. But your original post above still makes you look like the “arrogant prick” (to use your words). You spent a bit of time penning that narrative in an effort to mock that fellow, but all you succeeded in doing was making yourself look bad with poor grammar, punctuation, and paragraphing—not to mention the substance of your story. For what it’s worth, I am not the only one who sees it this way. “Epic thread back fire….” and “you are an idiot of the highest caliber…” are among the reactions you have garnered. I don’t know you from Adam, so this is nothing personal, but the original post above was a very unflattering self-portrait.
Let this be a lesson to all getbiggers: do not try to throw unnecessary grenades. It is not a pretty picture when they blow up in your face. :-[

I was at Ralphs the other day...lines were freaking crazy....i just wanted some freakin beer...But im working on patience this year, i figure, if i can be more patient while driving and while in the grocery store down the street from my apt (BRENTWOOD....HELLA OLD PEOPLE WHO CAN CARE LESS ABOUT TIME)....then ill be able to be more patient with everything..
Thats said...20 min is a while. I would have been furious, but i wouldnt have went into the guys finances like that. Sometimes pride for a grown man is a hard thing to get over...So whatever the situation was with him and his wallet,he wasnt gonna let it show in a public place with a bunch of strangers around...

In college I went on a double date. My girlfriends girlfriends (???) date spent the whole time talking about money. How he does this or that to save money. Talked about how for him finding gas that was 5 cents a gallon cheaper saved him $300/year. He extrapolated everthing to a per year number. (I was actually impressed by some of the savings that he had figured out...) Anyway, don't know how I didn't see this coming but when the check came he meticulously calculated everyones totals and collected the money from me. When the waiter came back he pulls out two two for one coupons for their meals.
Oh, and to the OP as has been pointed out - while it may have only been 2.4% of Gross it's a significantly higher percent of pocket change once you take out taxes, mortgage etc... I use coupons too...
fixed it myself.
-
If you do the math that is only 2.4% of his income he is saving.Plus if you do the math even further a $100,000 a year adds up to about $50 an hour. That would mean that by clipping all those coupons he is actually losing money in time, lol.
You make the assumption that the time spent cutting out coupons could easily be transferred into matching his assumed regular hourly rate. He's probably salaried, so this isn't the case. There's no opportunity cost associated with him doing this.
Anyway, making six figures doesn't not mean you are rich, especially where kids are involved. The money he is saving via using coupons is well worth it. A couple grand makes a big difference.
-
If you were at Target and this happened, we may have had more respect in your effort...However Walmart is in place for the poor to low/middle class...Judging by your posts on the money you make, you really shouldn't be going to a Walmart...
-
There's nothing wrong with people who make decent money shopping at Wal-mart for necessities, or anything else they choose.
-
i buy sandbox sand from WMT's garden center... you don't have to go in.
Also the neighborhood Walmart 24/7 neighborhood grocery store isn't too bad. You can self-checkout at 10 am and the place is empty.
-
you guys need to come to australia and pay our prices for food then you'll really have something to complain about!... no coupon system here either...

Just my opinion, but in situations as such where you may feel like you will react in a non cordial manner and/or engage in dialog as you chose to, just remove yourself from the situation entirely.
Please understand that the gentlemen actually did nothing to you physically to provoke anything. Instead you allowed the situation to have a ill logical effect on you psychologically therefore you actually instigated an issue that did nothing but lure you out of your spirit as a whole as the situation grew.
This was a mental test that you failed. I've failed plenty. Learn from it.
Peace and a Jar of hair grease. ;)
-
Why dont you do your groceries like saturday evening or sunday morning when there's nobody there? If you dont like crowds and lines, dont get there at the wrong time, that simple, moron.

Instead you allowed the situation to have a ill logical effect on you psychologically therefore you actually instigated an issue that did nothing but lure you out of your spirit as a whole as the situation grew.
This was a mental test that you failed. I've failed plenty. Learn from it.
Peace and a Jar of hair grease. ;)
Well most people will do their best to avoid being in contact with stupid people instead of unecessarely confronting em. What's at stake here, seriously, why the need for all this drama? looks like getitony is an insecure moron who needs to start troubles with people for no reasons other than his insecurities and lack of self control.

The Only reason I stepped is was because he was rude to the cashier. He was impatient ,pushy and talked down to the guy behind the counter. Then for him to brag about driving a Lexus and making 6 figures really pissed me off.Nothing bothers me more thne people who brag about how much they make or what they drive. If you make 6 figures and drive a Lexus good for you.The guy argued with the cashier and called him stupid and an idiot , and the guy was a nice 50 year old man.To make matters worse he made rude commnets to the lady in front of me.The guy was just a jerk.I dont mind people with coupons, but he was so unorganised, rude, and loud.I wasnt the first person to say something, it was actually o other people.I just asked him to please refrain from using profanity to the cashier.I think he purposly held up the line and messed with the cashier because he wanted to be a jerk.Like I said before, the cashier had to call over the manager over 4 times over problems the guy caused.I would have gladly given the guy the $12-$15 he saved just to not have to hear him or have him waste my time.If the guy was hurting for money I would have compassion for him, but he was just a guy with a chip on his shoulder.
-
My problem wasnt so much with the guy holding up the line as much as the way he talked to the cashier.I hate when people are rude to waiters, cashiers, or people who are serving them.Just because someone is serving you, doesnt make them any less then you. They arent your slave,They are just doing there job.I been behind old ladies on fixed income and they held up the line for 15 minutes, but they were atleast polite.
This guy was about 30 the cashier was an older guy about 55-60.He should have respect for his elders

Grabbed the guys coupons and started eating them
Headbutted the guy
Shook the cashiers hand
Grabbed the Loudspeaker phone and said "Cleanup at Register 2"
Hit on any chicks in the lineup
politely bidded good day and left

When I was younger I worked diffrent jobs, and I had to deal with rude customers. There is nothing worse then some one calling you stupid, throwing coupons and bragging how much money they make.If you make so much money ,why are you fighting with the cashier, throwing coupons at him and make his job harder?
The old guy behind the register doesnt want to hear about some 30 yo punk woh drives a nicer car then him or makes more monmey then he does.I bet the old guy wanted to punch him in the mouth. The cashier looked really disgusted. This guy ruined his night.Yet since the guy was 50-60 yo and jobs are hard to find he couldnt tell the guy to go fu?$# himself. When I first got to the line there was 3 people when the guy left there was 15.I let 2 other people go ahead of me that only had 2 items.
There wasnt one person in that line that didnt want to tell that guy off.It was funny, he had the whole line pissed off
-
he bragged about the money he made because you provoked him you moron. Anyways everytime you post the story changes for some reasons, I'm pretty sure the whole story is just another big load of bullshits from an insecure loser as usual.
-
I was out buying a Lexus the other day and there was this loud, rude guy there yapping about how much he saves with coupons at Walmart. Then he laughed about how he enjoyed holding up the line and being rude to cashiers. I stepped up and asked him if he wanted to GetItOn, at which point he whipped out a large erect penis and chased me around the showroom with it, which I found to be extremely rude.

Nothing personal but you actually can't think that someone is going to tell you that they fell on hard times. Some people would like to keep their pride and dignity these days which is why he was talking about the Lexus and 6 figures.
Honestly, you were being a prick, Joe.

I was very polite when I spoke to him Vince. He was the one who was irrate. He even threw the lady behind hims food back because it was to close to his.He made rude remarks to her under his breath. Then called the cashier stupid, and told him to use his brain. The guy obviously had issues. There was like 5 people who made comments to him, including the store manager. After the checked out he even pulled out another coupon and wanted the $1 off, he got his reciept. The checker was already ringing up the other lady behind him, so he had to call the manager over to do an overide. Then he left all his newspaper at the checkstand .He was just a contentious person who wanted to push other peoples buttons. He got off on talking down to the cashier, and arguing with him.
Nobody has the right to make anyone else to feel bad, or less then them.If I was the cashier I would have asked him to leave the store.
There is nothing worse then someone who brage about how much money they make or what kind of car they drive.Who gives a fu$#????
Just because you have a nice car and you make good $ dont mean anything.I had a friend of mine who I used to hang out with, until he was bragging to this single mom how much money he had.Telling her, he makes more money in a day then she makes in a month. To me that is scum......
The bottom line is the guy was an asshole, and is bragging about making 6 figures and driving a Lexus just shows how insecure and childish he is.
The old guy he was talking down to has some kind of learning disorder, because he is a little slow, but he always nice
I was at the Lexus dealer the other day and this guy was bragging that he made 6 figures and he wanted to use coupons he cut in the paper as his down payment

Hey Goodrum, I thought you were outlawed to be able to say or use the words "pride, dignity or honestly" since you don't have any. I do know you were granted to use the word "prick" but only as a 'noun' in a manner such as "go ahead Vissy shove your prick in my ass harder".

A Lexus is POS and six figures is nothing to brag about ::)
-
A Lexus is POS and six figures is nothing to brag about ::)
We had a Lexus ES 300 in 1993 the year they came out. it was nice. Very quiet cars. My uncle Bernie that same year test drove one and bought it. he was a diehard Continental owner since the early 60's. He had a Rolls and also the 2nd Ferrari Testarossa sold in California. He liked the Lexus so much he bought each of his assistants one. He bought 10 of them and gave them for Christmas. I know it is a glorified Toyota but still pretty nice.
-
I just think that for the price there are better options. So "POS" might have been too harsh....

There's nothing wrong with people who make decent money shopping at Wal-mart for necessities, or anything else they choose.
There's nothing wrong with eating at the local soup kitchen either. But if your gonna do so, you may not want to complain about the guy in front of you who smells like a bucket of shit...
-
Why did you feel the need to tell us you make 6 figures a year? I have never heard someone who actually does make that much ever say that they do, especially not on an internet forum, maybe your the first person who doenst lie about their worth on the internet?
I'm very curious as to why you felt the need to mention to the board that you "really do make 6 figures"? Did you think it would improve your story? Would it put in in a position of authority to comment and judge on how someone who makes 6 figures a year really should act? What is it man? To me it makes you sound really insecure.

Maybe if you're single, no kids and live in an apartment. But if you have a family to support, mortgage, car payment and some credit cards.......you're hurting. Unfortunately $100k doesn't get you very far now a days.

I saw the same guy again, beleive it or not.lol.Beleive it or not at a gas station.Yes he does drive a Lexus, its like a 1989, lol.The guy did another amazing thing. He went into the store and paid the clerk $10 in cash, for gas.The clerk made mistake, and gave him $20, because he put the wrong amount on the wrong pump.So the clerk goes out to tell him he owes him another $10, and the guy goes, I am not paying its your fault. Now if you only pay $10, you should stop pumping gas at $10, if your honest.Since he just drove off the clerk now has to pay the $10 out of his pocket. For a guy who makes a $100 a year, he has no class.I bet this clerk at the store only makes about $8 an hour .Now this guy has to pay for this guys gas.Yes the clerk did make an error, but the guy knew he only paid $10, so he knew by pumping extra gas he was stealing.

Walmart really is great for cleaning supplies and shaving blades.
I saw a lady steal gas at an H-E-B recently. And she had a new $50+ something SUV. :-\

So I have compassion for people who have hardships, but this guy was an arrogant prick.
nice first encounter of alex 23.

Guys, c'mon - aren't we being a little hard on the original poster? I mean, after all, Mr. 6-figures couldn't be late for his cage fight (which he no doubt won by KO) ::)

No, an income of $100,000 to $999,999 a year is nothing. Nothing at all. MindSpin . . . what an asshole.

that guy GetItOnNY sounds like a real douche with his "I really make 6 figures". Who the fuck cares?
he could have told the guy "brother, I respect what you are doing and applaud you, but I am a little bit of rush, would you mind if skip ahead" or just change lines.
Instead what does he do, starts a thread about a guy trying to save some money. I personally think that we need more coupon using people in society.
a married guy with kids that attend private school, a house and a car would burn through 100K pretty easy.
Honestly I wouldn't want to be a woman that didn't clip coupons.
Hell, I just got my costco coupon booklet, better believe I will thumb through it...
GetItOnNY == complete stupid dumb fuck douche
-
unfortunately for America there are too many people like GetItOnNY and not enough like the guy he is trying to insult...all is lost, abandon ship

Whether you believe this or not, the clerk was my Dad, honestly, he called me last night telling me the same story.....
Irony in this......my Dad was an executive at Pfizer and when they merged yrs ago he took a huge buyout and is comfortable for the rest of his life..on top of this his stock protfolio did well...so when he dies I will be comfortable myself...
Now you ask...why is he working at WM? Hates Golf and does not want to be home with my Mom 24/7, Health Benefits are also cheaper thru WM then on his own.....

Listen, if a person clips coupons and does price comparisons, good for them being smart. But that doesnt givev him a right to call the checker stupid, be rude the lady behind him. Then brag about driving a Lexus and making a 6 figures. If the guy was polite to the checker, and didnt brag about his income, I would have been fine with that.I have no time or patience for a man to call another person stupid thorw coupons at him and insult him, then brag about how much money he makes. The poor cashier you could tell was very upset, but couldnt say anything.I wasnt the only person who said something to him, 5 other people did,.
When he bragged about making 6 figures and driving a Lexus everybody started laughing him.
Then the next day to see him again do something else stupid, lol.I live in a small nice communuty called 7 Hills in Las Vegas. So its not uncommon to see the same people often. Most of the communitues are gated, and are nicer homes.
I do have sympathy for people who have hard times.Like I said before a single mom who was infront of me, was trying to buy $50 in formula and diapers for her baby and her debit card wouldnt go through. So I paid for all of her stuff. The girl gave me a hug and even started crying, and so did the checker at Walmart.
The girl was only 19 and her bf left her with no money for her and her child.I guess he cleaned out the bank account aswell.
I also just donated $3600 to our church store. This store provides food ,shaving cream toilet paper ,and household items to people in need.Best of all its all free.
Our church serves about 200 plus people a week. Most of them single mothers and people who are down on there luck. Now if this same guy came to my church's store, I would have gladly given him everything he needs.

To the OP, you're bitchin' about the lad in WalMart braggin' about what he has, so to make your point, you come onto GB to brag about what you have and do???
Epic fail!

Tragically, he wasn't even trolling. He actually meant it. Welcome to GetIronic.

So I have compassion for people who have hardships, but this guy was an arrogant prick.
and ??? .... were you the cashier ? why are you so upset about this.
and the oart i dont get is that you say " if the guy said times are tought, i wouldve been nice to him"... excuse me, but who the fuck are you in this scenario? A and B are talking, you should just C your way to the next register instead of posting here about it, and doing the same thing the guy at walmart did ( saying u make 6 figures and help people out)

SERIOUSLY..bay is right..you do sound like a douche...
If he was humble...wtf does that mean? you must live a boring fucking life to actually take the time to post this shit..and in the shit that you posted you claim to make six figures..what a fucking tool you really must be.
