He will get destroyed as soon as it hits the ground  ;D

41-year-old boxing champ James Toney signs multi-fight agreement with UFC
by MMAjunkie.com Staff on Mar 03, 2010 at 4:50 pm ET
Sometimes trash talkers get what they want.

After berating UFC president Dana White on several media outlets in recent months, 41-year-old boxing champion James Toney (72-6 Boxing, 0-0 MMA) has reportedly signed a multi-fight agreement with the Las Vegas-based promotion.

The report was issued Tuesday by FiveOuncesOfPain.com citing sources close to negotiations, and MMAFighting.com's Mike Chiappetta has since confirmed the deal after speaking to White.

Toney, the current NABO and IBA heavyweight champion, pitched himself to White before cameras following UFC 108 in January and afterward blasted the UFC president for what he considered a "laughable" offer to fight in the octagon.

Ever since, Toney has taken every opportunity to challenge White for a contract.

"Dana White is a straight up ho!" Toney told Fighthype.com this past week. "He makes me a five-fight offer for chump change and said I can't box anymore if I accept it. He must have lost his damn mind."

It appears talks have brightened considerably since then.

At least one UFC fighter will welcome Toney into the cage.

"I think a lot of people would pay to see that," UFC heavyweight contender and "The Ultimate Fighter 10" winner Roy Nelson recently told Steve Cofield of Yahoo! Sports.

A timetable for Toney's debut is unknown at the time of this writing. Requests to the UFC for comment by MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) were not immediately answered.

The 41-year-old Toney's most recent fight was this past September when he defeated Matthew Greer by TKO in a boxing match. Prior to that, he defeated Fres Oquendo for the vacant NABO and IBA heavyweight belts.

I would rather see him against Kongo...or else Dana could just put him against basically any wrestler and make him look foolish and then use that as ammo as to why mma is the best combat sport (as well as get the last laugh for toney calling him a "ho")

Kongo would destroy him.  That wouldn't even make for worth a damn fight. I do hope more top boxers start going into the UFC and get their ass's handed to them by these guys.  All the hardcore boxing fans have all the faith in the world that if Floyd Mayweather went into the UFC he would own the guys. I find this funny, because you can't run away from those guys when they bring ya to the ground...

James toney is a piece of crap. He's washed up and looking for attention outside of boxing. He's been talkin to much shit to Dana that Dana is going to throw him to the wolves. This will make boxing look bad because Toney will get his over the hill washed up ass handed to him in no time flat.

HAhAaha I remember that! I jumped off the couch with that interview.

Seriously though James will get destroyed. He's doing this for a paycheck.
He had Billy Blanks(t-bo man) train him for a fight that he lost. Blanks had him doing all kind of cardio in which James overtrained and couldn't handle it.
James likes to punch off the ropes and take his rest which won't be possible in the UFC.

Usually before 2 people engage in combat they talk shit. I've never been nice to a person and then knocked them out. White people talk shit too. Basketball, football whatever. It's testosterone man. At least they are flexing there manhood in sports rather than on the streets. More criminals should try that.

dude , he has been talking shit in EVERY SINGLE INTERVIEW; not even just before fights, BEFORE he even talked to dana, during the time a talked to dana, etc, hes the "Why alot of folks hate black people" example.
He couldn't even take a fucking pause from the RETARDED EBONICS when dana FINALLY let him into the ufc in the "thank you" video which I just posted. Couldn't even be serious for one sec.

Hopefully he gets KILLED.

If he gets subbeb = "What a pussy that didn't dare and stand with me"
If he gets ko'ed = "Not used to the gloves and I still looked better!"
If he gets TKo'ed = "It shouldn't have been stopped I was ok racist ref!"

etc etc etc

I agree. His boxing style just doesn't even cross over unless he can hurt a guy and finish him close quarters. Other than that, he's going to have trouble with that phone booth philly style. He's got ZERO mobility, ZERO agility. They literally have to put him in there with somebody who doesn't even attempt takedowns, submissions or leg kicks AT ALL.

I think he'll probably fight Buentello since they won't give Paul the Kimbo fight he's wanted for 3 or 4 years now.

I can say from personal experience that James Toney is an awesome guy to have around your gym when you are a young fighter.  He is always willing to help younger guys and teach them the tricks of the trade.

I'm sure.

Most probably can't, won't or know how to get past/deal with his bold attitude (I can), but he does strike me as the type that will hang around the gym just to watch you spar and give you some advice, pull you aside or just hop in there with you and show you first hand.

I remember Emanuel Steward said as soon as toney would enter the KRONK he'd yell "LET THE BEATINGS BEGIN" ...and spar with anybody didn't matter who it was all day one after another.

With him it's no act I feel. Some dudes are just wired that way, verbally get themselves going, gives them momentum, he has to back it up or eat his words,.....he's a "ticking time bomb" type basically.

Initially if I ran into a Toney type, he'd get in is words but i'd shrug them off...not feed him anything basically (give him no momentum).

That's when his type knows mentally you are a tough nut to crack.

Usually end up cool in the end...meanwhile he's testing others for that momentum. It's all mental imo, but most will never even try to understand him and will see him as a complete fool. LOL

True. You have to have talent never seen before in boxing if you are the quiet type.

Toney is actually quite BORING to watch box. Ofcourse I appreciate his skill set, but had it not be for his mouth...he'd get zero air time. Bernard hopkins learned that...he was quiet for years, defended his title a millions times...not until he started running his mouth did he get fights...same with antonio tarver...they basically had to be assholes.

Uses the "shoulder roll" technique which is a defensive stance. Not very aggressive in the ring.
