Read what's under my avatar, that's why. We have all subscribed to the Church of Greed during sometimes of our lives. We want more, we crave more. Money, drugs, sex, fame, once we get a lil we want more, we get addicted to it like drugs. And then we succumb to it. Some even use drugs and booze to mask or medicate it. Basically, what ends up happening is it forces us to look into the abyss, the abyss that is our souls...and Corey blinked...

The thing is, Corey dying now will make him the most popular he's been since he was in his early aged prime. All he wanted was that fame he used to have and living a normal life to him sucked. I can't blame him; once you've been to the mountain top it sucks living amoung the dwellers at the bottom again. For him that wasn't living at all, and I think that's why he was so involved in drugs -- it made him feel like he was on top again. May be bad to say but him dying now was probably good for his over all career and him being remembered. People were making jokes about this guy all the time in the media and shit, which I don't think were warranted at all. I'm sure it got to him a lot. Now all we have is a memory of him and I think that may be better then the misery he may have been living in.

News stories keep referring to this guy as a former "heartthrob."  Really?  Did he really ever make anyone’s heart throb?  Whose?  I need a getbig woman’s (a tween’s really) perspective.  Was this guy ever “sexy”?  I guess I have a different aesthetic; those Tigerbeat guys all looked the same to me: not attractive at all.

When I was a young punk, I remember thinking Eric Heiden was hot: he had those huge, muscled speed skater legs (and he was good looking too), but Corey Haim? Um, no.  :-X

And you, the gay man, knows this how? I get more play now that I shave my head (because I'm really thin on top) than I did when with hair. From having flat tops, long hair, shorter styled hair in a different types of styles...shaved is the the best- easier to deal with too!

And every woman I've met, talked to-sexually or not- have all said they liked shorter hair/shaved head just as much as having any other hairstyle.

I think the underlying principle is not how long your hair is/isn't. It's what you look like with the amount of hair you have.

LOL TA’s comment was very funny and on point.  Some (drug addled) artists die and you mourn not only the loss of human life but also the loss of their incredible artistic talent.  You cannot help but ask, what else might they have given the world (Heath Ledger, Jimi Hendrix, John Belushi, Jacko, Jim Morrison, Dorothy Dandridge, Marilyn Monroe, etc.) if they had not died prematurely?  Did anyone, anywhere think Corey Haim was going to make a noteworthy contribution to acting (or anything else) in the years ahead?  :'(

Greed is pretty much craving for more than you need or more than your than your fellow man/ woman. Once one has fame, most who aren't balanced, which is most people, especially Americans crave more, because their egos desire it and state that they deserve more. Then the drugs, alcohol, sex, spending money on material items, all to feed the need of the ego's Greedy desire for self importance. Eventually it consumes the person, and they are either a empty husk, or they die. That empty husk contains a empty soul or an abyss, if you look at it and see what you've become--you blink, you are done. You don't and accept it for what it is, and try to fix what you can you will survive to control your life, and you will know the hallmarks of succumbing to Greed. Existing out of the Religion of Greed with a fresh breath.

I wonder if you realize that your obsession with exotic, ridiculously expensive cars embodies all these evil qualities you speak of. You're really no better.

Actually, I like cars, whether they be exotic, muscle cars, luxury, or classic. It's the mechanical aspect that I like. The engineering. I would rather sit and watch the car being built at the factory, or talk to the engineers/designers to see what was their impetus for said design, than read a magazine or go to a car show. I have friends who work for GM and I like to pick their brain about what is coming down the pike.

That is what makes me different than one who sees such cars as "status symbols". Man makes the car, the car doesn't make the man, which is why you see a lot of douches drive status cars, they intend for that to determine who and what they are...

Basically, what ends up happening is it forces us to look into the abyss, the abyss that is our souls...and Corey blinked...

are you a buddhist parker ?

We have to end apartheid for one. And slow down the nuclear arms race, stop terrorism and world hunger. We have to provide food and shelter for the homeless, and oppose racial discrimination and promote civil rights, while also promoting equal rights for women. We have to encourage a return to traditional moral values. Most importantly, we have to promote general social concern and less materialism in young people.

Ha! I'll do anything at this point, bro. The fielding and batting pct will remain in the stratosphere, but the base running speed will continue to fade. Yep, but the real business is in legalize drugs and drugs from big drug companies. America is a addicted and drug addled country. You know that there are tons of crimes done by people addicted to painkillers. They rob, steal, assault others just for Oxy or Sub? Pharmacies are constantly dealing with fake scripts, and law enforcement have special teams. Yet the fundig for this comes from the tax layers and the revenue earned from the Judicial systems bonds, fees and restitutions and from Parole and probation fees, counseling fees as well...

Though later to be proven untrue, Layne Staley was rumored to be found dead only after he was no longer withdrawing 3k per day (or some outrageous amount) out of his bank account to cop heroin.

Like in life, the more you make, the more you'll spend on your lifestyle. Guys making 30k/year will only spend a small amount in relation to their income on their habit. But guys that make 20mill/year will spend more money in one day than the smaller guy makes in a paycheck to support their habit.
