So are deadlifts for back or legs? ???
-
Do 30 sets of 30 and let us know where you get sore.

;D
vince gironda and many "ol timers" used to do that, pick a move,, massive # of sets and reps, record where it got them sore and passed that info down through "the ages"
nowadays people just go by what they learn in book/class/net/tv/etc. ::)

Back for me, but not gonna get the big lifts without legs.

So are deadlifts for back or legs? ???
is this a serious question??.. but yes when you go very heavy your legs too may sore a little bit!..
-
Lower back & hamstrings .. + quads , forearms , glutes , traps
I usually do it on leg day .. or deadlift day ;)

start them from the rack for back..
as for legs, try to straighten your legs and go all thw way down with extreme caution to work the hams.

honestly, for pretty much everything.
back, legs, abs, to lesses degree chest, bis, tris...

sure i was talking here about normal deadlifts but stiff leg DL is mainly for hams and also works the lower back and some other back muscles in a secondary way!!..

Deadlifts hit the whole posterior chain, from calves to traps and the bi's, forearms and the shoulders

I'm still trying to figure out whether dumbbell pullovers are for chest or lats. I know some people do them for chest and others do them for lats.
As for deadlifts, I always considered them a back movement.

All most everything.

rack deadlift ftw

dumbell pullovers, any movement where the arms are pulled "backwards" will use the posterior muscles. like the above poster said, deadlifts work the entier "posterior chain"...all the muscles that pull the body backwards(although deads do use quads too, which although arent posterior are necessary for balance.)
the chest pulls the arms across the body.. the motion involved with any type of pullover movement... pulling the arms back behind the body.. will involve the posterior muscles of the torso.... the chest is not involved

Your chest isn't involved in a pullover? ::)
I agree it's more of a back and serratus move but it hits your chest too...my chest flexes like a mother when I do them, they also hit your tris.
Kind of an upper body finisher IMO...you can do them with either bodypart
-
I always felt pullovers more in my lats, but my chest definitely gets worked from doing them. I do get a pump in both areas, but more so my lats.

I agree with the coach...."abs" so f-ing lutely. ;D

logically pullovers are for lats!!.. if you analyse the movement it's very similar to chin-ups!!..

i think it only pumps blood to your chest so it becomes full!!..
sure it hits tris because you cant keep your arms straight and have to bend it slightly especially with heavy sets and this must postion must involve triceps..

being pumped is something and being trained is another thing!..

Well yeah, the movement is definitely much more akin to a lat movement, as opposed to a chest.

yes, you cant find an exercise that trains bis and tris at the same time, the same with back and chest!!.. i also dont agree that leg press and squats involve hams!!..
-
the chest is opposite the back. when you work the opposite muscle the opposing muscle gets stretched. workign the lats stretches the pecs. :)

Chinups train back, chest, biceps and triceps, and I have felt all those muscles working.
-
everything....but for me, mostly hams, and traps..........
bench
-
I do them on leg day after squats.
Well its kinda a posterier chain day.
-
Ive ALWAYS done them on Back day. I always try and do straight/stiff legged deads BUT always bend my knees a little, soo your pretty much also working your legs a little too.
-
So are deadlifts for back or legs? ???
Depends on the type of deadlift. I do standard deadlifts for legs and Romanian deadlifts for the lower back.
-
Also depends on where you are weak and strong.
-
Deadlifts and pullovers are for back. Specifically, db pullovers are GREAT as a warmup when working lats. They are the equivalent of flyes for pecs. Allows you to pump your lats and pre exhaust a little at the same time. Deadlifts on the other hand, if you do them properly, work your entire back majorly and the rest of your body to a lesser extent. Proper form is a must as is doing them from the GROUND like a MAN not off a fucking rack like jay cutler.
