can anyone stop carwin? of course he will eventually get beat but man... he improves with every fight. he totally dismantled mir. i really am begining to think he has a shot of beating lesnar.
-
Problem is, no matter how good Carwin looks, Brock is still about 3 weight classes bigger than him (if there were such a thing). He looked like a midget next to brock after the fight. Brock will easily control him just like he did Mir last July.

Everyone was saying how big these guys were when the fight started...but brock just dwarfed him, he had 2 be 300 pounds...i still think if carwin catches him with 1 punch hes knocking brock out
-
All I know is that I have been saying for months on here that Mir is a total chump. Carwin proved it.

Me too, Ive always thought Mir was overrated and sometimes lucky. Mir was starting to breathe with his mouth open after the first couple minutes, I think Carwin used his size/wrestling ability wisely in this one to set up that finish. Carwin does weigh 280lbs he's just not as tall as everyone thinks he is, he looks more like 6'1 to me. Either way, Brock looked like he was shitting bricks right after the finish.
-
Mr weightlifter Frank Mir just got a lesson in been lifting for years vs just started lifting recently also. He couldn't do a damn thing with shane. Too strong imo.
I'm sure the former strong man champ Mir hired to power him up was impressed with Mir explosive power demo last night. Thanks for the check. I bet that little strongman project just got scrapped
-
Mir needs to learn how to protect his head more...
-
lets see carwin has over twice as many fights(experience) as Brock...Has far Superior stand up game...a far Superior submission game....and has a good wrestling backround....
Carwin over Brock via fatality....
Brock will be exposed as the hype he is...

Mir was hardly on the radar when he had the amount of fights as Brock...If you cant see you have been spoon feed Brock by the Dana hype machine with the maketing tactics and hand picked opponent's theres really no point in continuing the discussion...
time will tell...theres no more "gimmie" fights for Brock...His next 3 fights will more than likely be carwin,Cain, and dos Santos....I will be shocked if he wins more than one of those three fights....
Brock has five fights now...he will be out of the UFC by the time he has ten fights...If I had to guess he will retire with a record of 6-4...ten years from now people will be looking back laughing at the fools that fell for this manila gorilla and Dana white side show...

I prefer to keep quiet and watch, while people make all kinds of assumptions, like Brock leaving the UFC with a 6-4 record........
It's better to keep your mouth shut and let people assume you are a fool, than to open it and confirm you are. ;)

yea thats fine if you don't want to stick your neck out to make a prediction....thats your prerogative...
but this is a forum were people discuss things such as this...I am just projecting were I see a 33 year old steroid abuser with heath problems finishing at...not really life or death stuff here...well...It might be for Brock but not me...

then i will eat crow and give him his props...

Brock has been spoon fed opponents? How so? His first UFC fight was against a former title holder (Frank Mir) and he lost. Most people are not given a Frank Mir as a 1st fight. His 2nd fight was against Heath Herring. Does anyone here consider him a can? Lesnar dominated him and showed he has sick speed and cardio for a heavyweight. On his 3rd fight he took the belt from Randy and then he dismantled Mir. I don't think they've spoon fed him at all.
That said, I think Carwin will absolutely demolish him and I can't wait to see it!
Oh, and Fedor is still a big fat gaping pussy.
-
Oh, and Fedor is still a big fat gaping pussy.
Why does Fedor have to come to the ufc? When you are the #1 fighter in the world, people come to you, you dont come to them. Any of those ufc guys that want to fight Fedor are free to go to strikeforce and do so.

Actually, they are under contract with the UFC, so they are not free to just go over and fight Fedor. And, Fedor may have been #1 sometime in the past, but if he wants to be considered #1 today, he needs to come over and play with the big boys.

is he bitching already??
making excuses??

when brock LOST to mir the first time yes....mir was having alot of problems coming back from his accident. i truely believe that the fight was picked for brock to win...and i know how you feel about fedor but i DO think he would dominate the ufc
-
Mir benefitted from a stand up from hits to the back of the head. He was about to be pounded into oblivion.
Carwin is a stud, and I believe has the tools to beat Lesnar. JDS, Cain and Carwin along with the Frate trane gives Zuffa three good heavyweights. Brock was rocked by Randy and Mir on his feet, if he is to win, he needs to put Carwin on his back.
-
Oh, and Fedor is still a big fat gaping pussy.
Ever see Fedor's first fight with Herring? He was mauling Herring so bad Heath gave him the sub. He dominated him way more than Brock did physically. It was the fight that really put Fedor on the map.

yea I was going to mention that...Mir lost a step from that accident...No doubt in my mind thats why he was chosen to face Brock...then you got heath herring...Whats his UFC record? 1-4? 2-3? somthin like that...dude sucked in the UFC very slow and out of shape....then you have couture...someone that shouldn't even be fighting heavyweight dude is a natural 205'er...factor that in with the fact he's 100 years old...yea hes a fan favorite but lets face it he's lost his fair share of fights...his record when he fought Brock was like 16-10...those three guys were hand picked for obvious reasons anyone that cannot see that is in serious denial....Oh lets not forget Brock's first opponent min so with a record of 4-7....Dana told Brock he had to have one fight before UFC signed him and Brock's people came up with that guy ha ha
paper champion that will soon be exposed is all he is...
-
Carwin will dismantle and destroy Brock. Carwin is a refined more skilled version of Brock. I can not wait for this fight in July. Brock is just bad for the sport. He acts like this is still WWE. Carwin on the other hand is everything a champion should be.
That being said, Mir can have his humble pie, Brock is scared shitless, and Fedor is irrelevant in the HW division currently.
Fedor is slowly riding off into the sunset. He realizes that this new breed of HW is nothing to mess with.
-
I don't think Brock is scared of Carwin at all. And i'm by far NOT a fan of Brock's.
For those who think Brock is taller than Carwin: remember in the ring on saturday night, Brock had shoes on... Carwin didn't... AND Brock had a full suit on. Obviously Brock will look bigger.
I think it's an amazing match up. Either guy would be ko'd.
-

Agree, Brock is NOT bigger than Carwin, and if he is slightly, it is irrelevant. Carwin is a monster. To dirty box and experienced HW into a KO is RIDICULOUS!
This is an exciting match-up for sure. One thing they both have is raw power and strength. It will be crazy to see them try to overpower one another.
At the end of the day, Carwin has more skills and is a smarter fighter.

Well, if you can truthfully say that you think Fedor has a chance against Carwin, then we can start disagreeing again :)
Fedor is just too small to fight a SKILLED 280lb freak. I know he has fought bigger guys in the past, but none as skilled and powerful like Carwin.
-
Kevin Randleman and Mark Coleman in their primes are more skilled than Shane Carwin. Heath Herring in his prime was on the level as well in my opinion. Do yourself a favor and go on youtube and watch some of Fedors fights.
I think when you make comments bashing him you really just say things to say them without having any clue as to whether they are true.

You're joking, right. Coleman more skilled than Carwin? Carwin has way better boxing, actually attempts to pass guard, has much better sub defense, and sub skills. Randleman is a FREAK athlete, who until he left Hammerhouse, possessed little skills other than his fast, heavy hands and freak like wrestling.
-
::)
Boxing maybe-- Sub skills maybe--- Passing the guard? Give me a break.
Is Carwin now BJ Penn?
We are talking about HW's here. Carwin has good hands and is a great wrestler, but to suggest anything beyond that is absurd-- especially when trying to handicap whether or not Fedor "has a chance" against Carwin.
-
Ever see Fedor's first fight with Herring? He was mauling Herring so bad Heath gave him the sub. He dominated him way more than Brock did physically. It was the fight that really put Fedor on the map.
Ever see the fight between Fedor and Matt Linland? He actually had to cheat in order to beat a middle weight ::) How about the fight between Babalu & Fedor? Liddell finished Babalu twice. Fedor went to decision with him ::)
Both Carwin & Lesner have a real chance of obliterating Fedor.

First of all this is 2010. Coleman and Randleman were never Brocks or Carwins size or had their strengths. I have seen Fedor's fights, but what good are fights that happened 5+ years ago. All I can say is that Fedor had problems manhandling Rodgers, who is a FAT HW.
Tell me why it would matter watching what Fedor HAS done in the past? What has he done lately is the big question.

Fedor has NEVER faced anyone with the skills and power of Lesnar or Carwin. He struggled with a fat ass Rodgers who doesn't posses half the skill or strength of Lesnar or Carwin.
Besides, why are we arguing about this. Fedor will NEVER step up to these big guys.
-
big l dawg laying down some truth in here.
-
i think Fedor fucked the girlfriends / wives of alot of guys in this thread.
the guy hasnt lost a fight in over a decade. rogers is dangerous as fuck. he KO'd brock during a sparring session.
What makes Fedor so great is the fact that he has never lost to a 'lesser' fighter. All of the top guys have had fluke losses to someone not nearly as skilled as they are, but Fedor hasnt.
-
It's easy to go undefeated when most of your wins are over cans...
...lots of guys are undefeated until they go to the UFC.
-
the funny thing is a guy magically becomes a can when they leave the UFC...and there a can before they come to the UFC....
as a matter of fact a guys fight record shouldn't even count unless the fight takes place in the UFC...

Agree 100% You could not be more correct. Most if not all guys that leave the UFC are cut because of poor performance and losses.
I can't remember the last guy besides Hendo that willfully left the UFC. This makes them UFC rejects, otherwise cans in comparison to other MMA fighters.

Andrei arlovski was on a 3 fight win streak when he left the UFC and was ranked #2-3 in the world by all major rankings when he fought Fedor...that was only 14 months ago...
when werdum lost to Dos Santos(who everyone will lose to)he was coming off wins against gabrial gonzaga and brandon Vera (who are both still in the UFC)and was told if he beat dos Santos he would get a title shot....so he losses one fight to someone that everyone is getting beat by and goes from being ranked number 2 in the UFC to becoming a can or reject...yea makes alot of sense...
Jeff monson was 3-1 in the UFC and had just fought for the title and he asked to be released from the UFC they reluctantly let him go....
Tim Sylvia had won 6 out of eight fights(far from poor performances)and signed with affliction....
josh barnett was 4-1 in the UFC but left as a result of positive steroid test...something the current heavyweight champ has managed to avoid thus far...
these are just a few heavyweights I thought of off the top of my head...they were all ranked in the top 10 when they departed the UFC....It wasn't until Sylvia & arlovski faced Fedor that they fell out of the top ten rankings...monson fell out of the top 10 after a lose to josh barnett...and werdum & barnett are still currently ranked in the top ten....

All these guys left the UFC several years back when the HW division was nothing like it is today. The UFC obviously knew what they were doing when they let these guys go. What have any of them done since they left? They were asking too much money, much like Hendo. Basically, the UFC knew they were cans.
Regardless, I stand with the opinion that Fedor is knowingly staying clear of the UFC to keep his record in tack. Can't say that I blame him.
Shane Carwin will be the new #1 HW soon enough.
-

well I do agree that he will be a champion but his reign will be short lived as Cain or dos Santos will both put the old man out to pasture...

I agree that someday Cain and or Dos Santos may be champion, but they will have to put on some weight first. Carwin just said in an interview that he weighed about 275-280 on fight day. That is a lean 280...significant difference.
-

Truth to all this.

1. Matt Lindland crying about anyone cheating is the pot calling the kettle black. Matt did deserve that Fedor fight, he kind of got a screwjob "legit" in his fight with Rampage.
2. Rings didn't have modern MMA rules, Remember Randy getting destroyed by Allistar's brother?
I'm not going to tell you Fedor is the best in the world but give the guy some damn credit.
-
Fedor deserves credit and in all probability is still the best heavyweight. That is why everyone is scratching their head wondering why he is ducking the elite of the heavyweight class and why I keep calling him a pussy.
-
Exactly. All joking aside, he is doing more damage to his reputation by dodging these big fights.
.

dude, fedor said he would go to the ufc and fight brock no problem. the ufc would not allow fedor to do only a 1 fight deal though. it makes sense from their perspective, they dont want fedor to come beat brocks ass then leave, as the ufc heavyweight belt would be meaningless. That is the same reason the ufc did everything in their power to stop the couture - fedor fight.
hes not scared, he just doesnt want to sell his soul and fight on the ufc's terms. when you have been ranked #1 in the world for 5+ years, you have the right to decline offers that are unsatisfactory.

That's a copout for Fedor. Him and him camp also stipulated the they had to make it an M1/UFC co promotion. He knows full well that the UFC has nothing to gain from this. He should do a simple 3 fight deal with $800,000 plus a PPV% for each fight. If he's such a badass, he will restore his legacy & make more money than any MMA fighter in history.
-
He already has made more money than any MMA fighter in history...
-

The fact is he hasn't. Fedor has surrounded himself with a bunch of leeches are are milking him for all he is worth. All of M1 revenues can be attributed to the Fedor brand, yet all he gets a diluted 10%...that's sad.

He has no problem with that. UFC wouldnt let him do only a 3 fight deal, the contract they offered would make him have to fight under their brand name until he lost a fight.
Why would he agree to that? With a contract like that it would be impossible to go undefeated.
-

This is all speculation. You have got to look at the big picture. Why would big names like Brock, Rampage, Chuck, Randy, Mir, Shogun, Tito, BJ, GSP, etc. have no problem with the UFC or it's pay. If they wanted to make more or somebody had something better they surely would not be renewing their contracts. Even Rampage, who recently stated he disliked the UFC resigned with them. Tito even worked something out.
Bottom line is that the UFC WILL try to meet the fighters needs...they just are not going to sell out their brand by copromoting etc.
Translation...Fedor is padding his record, a pussy, or both.
-

none of those guys are the #1 fighter in the world with an undefeated record. if you want the #1 guy to fight in your org you have to make sacrifices for him. none of those other guys are worth near as much as fedor. fedor said he would do a 1-3 fight deal and then walk, even without the co-promoting, but the ufc declined.

you have a link to rampage resining with them?....He has had 2 fights left on his contract since before the tuf season...The last interview I seen he said he will fullfill his contract and leave the UFC....If he resined I missed it...please post were you got this info from...

http://www.mmaconvert.com/2010/03/24/ufc-re-signs-rampage-jackson-for-six-fights/ (http://www.mmaconvert.com/2010/03/24/ufc-re-signs-rampage-jackson-for-six-fights/)
It looks like Rampage Jackson and the UFC have officially made up…in the form of a new six-fight contract.
“Rampage and I are friends again now. I was mad at him because of what he’s done, and he was mad at me because I was mad at him [smile].”
When we asked [Dana] at the private media session whether Rampage’s recent statements about him wanting to leave the sport after his contract is finished, would affect his chances of getting a title shot in the near future (provided of course, he defeats Rashad Evans), Dana responded :
“No, we just renewed Rampage’s contract… It’s a 6 fights contract.”

One thing you are missing here is that the UFC will exist with or without Fedor. The rate he is going, he will eventually lose his #1 ranking or retire.
Meanwhile the UFC will put on HW fights that the fans want to see...like Carwin/Mir etc.
At the end of the day....the people that have been following MMA for years are really the only ones that are dying to see Fedor in the UFC.
I would love to see him in the UFC, but I realize it most likely will not happen and am willing to move on.

“No, we just renewed Rampage’s contract… It’s a 6 fights contract.”
sweet...thanx for that bro...

Most UFC events are heavily sponsored by Tapout. Call it co-promoting or not, it's basically the same thing.

Even if it was a co-promotion, there is no conflict of interest. TapOut makes t-shirts and the UFC promotes fights.
