Stunning Pictures of Al Gore's New $9 Million Mansion Media Totally Ignored By Noel Sheppard Created 05/03/2010 - 23:45

Nobel Laureate Al Gore purchased a $9 million mansion in the luxurious hills of Montecito, California, recently, and with the exception of the Los Angeles Times and Fox News, America's media couldn't care less.

You think it might be because the Gore-loving press wouldn't want people to consider the possibility that all of his global warming hysteria was really about lining his wallet and not saving the planet?

Formulate a response to that question as you look at what all that money the former Vice President is making off of spreading this myth can buy (h/t Doug Ross [1]):

Sweet, wouldn't you say? (Readers are encouraged to view more pictures of this fabulous estate here [2].)

Certainly not bad for a guy he supposedly [3] was worth between one and two million dollars in 2000.

Were the "Always Fascinated by the Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous" press interested?

Heck no.

According to LexisNexis, apart from the Los Angeles Times that broke [4] this story last Wednesday, and Fox News's Sean Hannity who spoke about this on consecutive nights last week, America's media were totally mum.

Why might that be?

You think Gore's adoring press don't want folks to know how much money he's making off this scam?

Before you answer THAT question, consider what the Nobel Laureate told [4] Congress last year as the House was deliberating cap-and-trade legislation:

AL GORE: Every penny that I have made, I have put right into a non-profit deal, Alliance For Climate Protection, to spread awareness of why we have to take on this challenge. And Congresswomen, if your, if, if you believe that the reason I have been working on this issue for 30 years is because of greed, you do not know me.

Now, imagine for a moment there were actually journalists still in America and not advocates pretending to be journalists.

A former Vice President who last year told a House committee he was putting all of his earnings into a non-profit company to "spread awareness of why we have to take on" global warming a year later buys a $9 million mansion with six fireplaces, five bedrooms, and nine bathrooms for him and his wife.

Don't you think SOMEBODY should have reported it other than Fox News, the LA Times, and conservative bloggers?

Where'd the money come from? Was this purchased by his non-profit corporation, and if so, how does he get away with that?

Did he sell some of his Google or Apple stock?

And how about some questions about how green the house is? Are there solar panels and windmills to power this facility? If not, what are their plans?

Forgetting all of that, if the Clintons, Bushes, or Cheneys bought such a place, do you think the media would cover it, at least as a human interest story?

For over three years, Gore's adoring press have followed virtually every move he's made since becoming the voice of global warming.

He buys a STUNNING villa as the unemployment rate stands at almost 10 percent and Americans are struggling to regain their footing after 2008's financial crisis, and the media are suddenly disinterested in him?

On exactly which planet, be it cooling or warming, does THAT make any sense?

I wonder what the carbon foot print of Al gores' lifestyle is compared to the average 20 families.

I fucking hate these people with a passion.  Can't another Katrina come, hopefully fuelled by Global Warming, CO2, and wipe all these scumbags away?

LoL at the financial geniuses on this site

Now is a GREAT time to buy a house, especially one like that

He probablay got a huge haircut on the selling price

I'm sure that thing is energy efficient/green etc.. or if it's not already then it's being retrofitted

LOL even more at the ridiculous comments on this thread

what does the UE rate have to do with a personal choice to buy a house

Show us some data that the house is not green and you might have something but why would all the "property rights" "teabaggers" care if Gore buys a big house?

Even if that house was converted to be "green", it would probably still consume more energy than 5-10 houses put together.  ;)

Why does Al Gore need two huge homes?

I mean Obama is saying that at a certain point people make enough money.  Isnt it enough to already have one massive mansion consuming the equivalent of 20 families combined usage?

Arnt we supposed to conserve energy in the age of scarcity and set an example for others?

Here is the problem.Al GORE got rich from using his position as former vice president, and scaring people into believing the hoax of global warming. His position on the subject, his movie, his books and his speeches are all lies and yet he became a billionaire using this propaganda, not because he is concerned with the environment, but as a get rich quick scheme.THAT wouldnt even bother me but it is bothersome that he used his power to scare his way to a billion dollars. He is a man who wants to dictate the temperature of OUR homes, but buys homes that use 10 times the electricity ours do.ONCE AGAIN WITH LIBS ITS DO AS I SAY,NOT AS I DO.

never been a big fan of gore's i think it's a little hypocritical to purchase such a large house and subsequent footprint when you wish others to cut their footprint too.  I think there may be more to this story perhaps he is converting it to solar or wind or some how cutting the costs to the environment of such a home.

I can see your point of view but I don't really have a problem with it

The home already existed so it's not like he creating a larger total footprint and we don't know what's going on .

Maybe he's getting ready to sell the Tennesse home and most likely he got a great deal on this home.

These extreme upper end homes are very hard to sell right now and the smart people (who have the money) are snapping up some great deals

Gore is a fraud.  I remember talking to my ecology prof in college and he talked at length about how, far and away, the thing that men do that they could change is the size of our homes to impact the environment and our carbon footprint.

Warren Buffett is worth 10000 Gores yet he lives in the same house he grew up in. One would think the champion of the green movement would have the gall to live in a normal sized house.

perhaps but more likely not, especially if Gores house TN is any example

according to that snopes linke the Gores reduced their energy consumption the in summer of 2007 by 11% (after doing a but a green upgrades) while most homes in Nashville consumed 20-30% more energy during that same time period due to a record heat wave.

Also, the Gores use their home in TN as both a residence and an office (and they both have employees/staff which is common for former VP's)

I would say that probably they don't have an issue with him simply for being wealthy, it's that he portrays himself as something very different from what he is in reality.  That is my personal issue with him.  I have no problem with the wealthy paying their fair share of tax, and I don't begrudge Al for becoming wealthy, but he should practice what he preaches, imo.

It takes money to make money. Gore would not have been in a position to make 700 million on climate change, much less be a senator, if his family were not benefitting for the proceeds of slave labour. That is a dividend they are enjoying to this day.

Personally, i've said from minute one that this manmade global warming was a load of shit.

However, wise people have fallen for this nonsense.

Palin Flip-Flops on Whether Global Warming Has Man-Made Causes; Falsely Claims She Never Suggested Otherwise

"Let me talk to you a bit about environmental policy, because this interfaces with energy policy, and you have some significant differences with John McCain," ABC News' Charles Gibson said in his conversation with Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin. "Do you still believe that global warming is not man-made?"

"I believe that man's activities certainly can be contributing to the issue of global warming, climate change," Palin said. "Here in Alaska, the only arctic state in our union, of course, we see the effects of climate change more so than any other area, with ice pack melting. Regardless, though, of the reason for climate change -- whether it's entirely wholly caused by man's activities or is part of the cyclical nature of our planet -- the warming and the cooling trends -- regardless of that, John McCain and I agree that we got to do something about it and we have to make sure that we're doing all we can to cut back on pollution."

Said Gibson: "But it's a critical point as to whether this is man-made. He says it is. You have said in the past it's not."

"The debate on that even, really, has evolved into, 'OK, here's where we are now,'" Palin said. "'Scientists do show us that there are changes in climate. Things are getting warmer. Now what do we do about it?' John McCain and I are going to be working on what we do."

"Yes, but isn't it critical as to whether or not it's man-made?" Gibson said. "Because what you do about it depends on whether it's man-made."

"That's why I'm attributing some of man's activities to potentially causing some of the changes in the climate right now," said Palin.

"But I -- color me a cynic," Gibson said, "but I hear a little bit of change in your policy there when you say 'Yes,' now you’re beginning to say it is man-made. Sounds to me like you're adapting your position to Sen. McCain's."

"I think you are a cynic," Palin said, "because show me where I've said there's absolute proof that nothing that man has ever conducted or engaged in has had any effect or no effect on climate change. I have not said that. I have said that my belief is there is a cyclical nature of our planet — warming trends, cooling trends — I'm not going to argue scientists, because I believe in science and have such a great respect for what they are telling us. I'm not going to disagree with the point that they make that man's activities can be attributed to changes."

**
Show me?

OK, Gov. Palin:

Fairbanks Daily News-Miner, Dec. 4, 2007: "I'm not an Al Gore, doom-and-gloom environmentalist, blaming the changes in our climate on human activity, but I'm not going to put my head in the sand and pretend there aren't changes."

Interview with Newsmax, Aug. 28, 2008: "A changing environment will affect Alaska more than any other state, because of our location. I'm not one, though, who would attribute it to being man-made."

Not yet, Looks interesting and will watch it soon. I did enjoy the Enron and Lehman Front-line movies.

Warning even has a section on Long term capital management..

Have you ever read the book about Long term capital management? It was entitled "when Genius Failed"

Great book, there's an Ebook version floating around on the net..Just goes to show you how well these financial risk models hold up against the Once in 20 year storm etc..

LTCM had Nobel winning economists, mathematicians, etc..When they collapsed it could have caused a major systemic collapse rivaling AIG, Lehman, etc...

I'm watching it right now..These front-line documentaries help you gather a much better understanding about the subject on hand..It was a requirement to watch many of these front-line documentaries for the business school i went to.

Im sure he powers that house up with wind and solar.
With all the money he's making form "green technologies" investments, he can hire coal miners to shovel coal into the fireplaced that serves as the central heating unit

Good Documentary...

Very informative...

The CTFC sucks as a regulatory body now, as well as the NFA.  The CTFC also wants to destroy the entire consumer US Forex trading market, by limiting margin requirements at 50%. International Firms only require 1% and sometimes even as low as .25% initial margin requirements. The proposal is on the table right now.

I have Filed numerous complaints with the NFA,(national Futures association) and they don't follow up with you.

These agencies are terrible..

I'm pretty sure it this clean coal, that those guys are shoveling in that fireplace..

I have heard a lot about clean coal technology from the "anti-christ"..
