UFC is getting exposed for what it is, a bunch of wrestlers and bjj guys who just want to roll around the whole fight and some F -grade strikers.
The crowd boos everytime it goes to ground and cheers when they are trading, even it's own fans are confused. Cut out all of the hype and false macho stuff and you have a very boring sport. It will hopefully dissapear soon, along with it's hillbilly fans

I think a lot of insecure folks are intimindated by MMA fighters. They realize that it's bodybuilding that's being exposed and fighters know that being big and muscular by itself means very little in a fight. Walking around with your arms out and chest puffed up just illicits laughter and ridicule nowadays.

I love boxing and MMA, but you have to understand that you can't give the two a direct comparison. They're way different. And YES, boxers are a trillion times better at BOXING than mixed martial artists... I'd sure hope so too, because you can't expect to take someone down and try subbing them in a boxing match.

I think I know where this is going. The MMA pay scale is fucked up and the sport has it's problems, plus it has a much larger ratios of fucking ass bags that follow it too. But I like it still. You don't have to follow the trends. Just ignore the Tapout/TUF homos and it's all good.

Exactly. They appreciate a good chess match on the ground. Jiu Jitsu did originate in Japan after all. And if shit gets boring, their refs stand it up fast. If they don't push the bill, they get dinged for it and lose a percentage of their fight purse.
Boring ground matches? They don't exist in Japan. In the United States and in other countries, you can dry hump your opponent for the duration of the fight and exploit the 10 point must system. Lay and pray artists don't stand a chance. It's too bad that MMA isn't as big as it once was there. I'm loving Dream and some of the mainstream organizations there. They've been putting on excellent events.
On that note, Dynamite!! 2009 by FEG was one of the best MMA events I had ever seen in my life. Watched it from start to finish on HDNet and virtually every match was awesome 8)

If you can't make any money in boxing then you are not a good boxer. Golden Gloves is amateur, the amateurs that don't succeed are the guys without the power or durability to make the pro ranks, pitty patty amateur style boxing is not a good crossover style.

UFC is MMA. It is the only promotion that makes money. In japan all of the big promotions have folded, the same pattern has happened elsewhere, without the UFC there is no MMA.

Giving Randy fifty title shots or Lesnar coming in and getting a title shot after four fights is better? Boxing has it's flaws, but bringing fighters through slowly isn't one of them. If you put a novice in against Wlad, it would be suicide. Even guys like Foreman came through slowy. Boxing has a lot of problems, but better the current system than an org that decides to give title shots to fighters based on marketability and not graft.

Seriously, I watch boxing (not religiously) and I can only name off about 3 or 4 top one now..........Now go out in public (Jay Leno esq) and ask people how many current champion boxers they know....Wouldn't surprise me if they can maybe name off Mayweather and that is it....

The only time the word "boxing" is searched more is on the Boxing Day holiday, which has nothing to do with boxing. Even a major boxing event barely spikes at all, as compared to a UFC event, it's not even close. Do a google trends and see for yourself.

Maybe because all of mma fights in America go through the ufc where as boxing is more fight centric, so the trends would be Mayweather v Mosley or Pac v Clottey, Showtime, HBO et cetera. Those figures don't make a lot of sense when published pay per view figures say otherwise. Both mma and boxing are very healthy at the moment.

I think it's down to the fights. Nobody want's to see non action twelve round decisions in boxing or Wrestlers lay'n'praying for the whole fight in mma. I prefer a war in boxing over any combat sport but really enjoy a back and forth mma fight or K-1.

That's my problem with it presently. I want to see the stand-up striking fights not that bjj and wrestling bullcrap. Bring back the heavy hitters of the early to mid 90s and I would watch it.

UFC is MMA. It is the only promotion that makes money. In japan all of the big promotions have folded, the same pattern has happened elsewhere, without the UFC there is no MMA.

Yes, there are exceptions like Bisping and Hardy but I think it will be a while before we see a champ, if ever. They've been at boxing a lot longer and it's very popular there but I don't remember any recent dominate champs. But I don't follow boxing that closely so I could be wrong. Still, they are tough dudes.
I also think Sanchez belongs at 155.

He was pretty good. He was old at that point and against a great puncher. He would have been a lot better if he was brought along better early in his career. Killer left hook, one of the hardest of all time.

You may very well be right. But, at least in recent years, I can't think of any. Name some of them. I don't mean top contenders but legit champs. It seems Americans dominate the heavyweights and the Mexicans/South Americans the lighter weights, Pacman being a glaring exception.

As for Uk fighters in recent years you had Joe Calzaghe who was rated P4P number 2 when he retired, having a record of 46-0-0. 2 division weight world champion at LHW and Supermidde weight.
Then you have Lennox Lewis and Prince Nasseem who have retired not too long ago, same can be said for Chris Eubank, Nigel Benn and Steve Collins. All champions.
Today you have Carl Froch (former WBC champ just 1 fight ago) and Amir Khan (silver medalist in the Olympics and now WBA champion).
Amir Khan is training under Freddie Roach so no doubt he will become even better in the future.
