just slept for 11 hours...during those 11hours i was at total peace, comfort, and treated to constant entertainment through fun realistic dreams.
the second i wake up and realize i was just asleep and dreaming and now have to start my day here in the 'real' world, it is a huge letdown. for the next 12-15 hours or so will be spent in an almost constant state of stress, discomfort, sweating, working, dealing with shit, etc.
id rather be asleep. the awake world sucks

i probably will at some point...ok to be honest during the time im awake i will get a "small* bit of happiness, for a total of about 15 minutes when i am eating food or get a minute to get online or when i take a hot shower or maybe crack one off. that still leaves 95% of waking hours as total shit

Waking up and getting out of bed is the hardest part of my day. There are some days, maybe 3 days out of the month where I don't have work, don't have to go to the gym, don't have any errands to run, and I literally stay in bed all fucking day. I don't even bother to eat because I'm just too lazy to even do that. I just drink those weight gainer drinks. I don't even answer the goddamn phone and just turn off the ringer. I don't even get going until it's around 6-7 PM where I'll check my email and shit. Before I'd at least go to the beach or something or get together with friends. Not anymore. Been like that for around 8-9 months now. It's disgustingly lazy but I live alone and that's one of the advantages. Nobody sees you lying around all day in your underwear being a lazy slob.

I hear you. Mon-Fri for me is essentially like this. There's not much pleasure that's felt during an 8.5 work day along with an extra hour of driving in retarded traffic. Once you get home you have no energy for anything else and if you have to run errands it really sucks. I love sleeping, going to bed is heaven but waking up is hell on earth

It's funny when I wake up I just want to go back to sleep. When I'm awake at night I don't want to sleep at all.

It's funny when I wake up I just want to go back to sleep. When I'm awake at night I don't want to sleep at all.
I don't think many people want to wake up when they have a long day ahead that contains a lot of stress such as a day at work. I wake up easy on weekends or holidays but find it hard as hell to get up when it's a work day -- it sucks. It's the most depressing feeling in the world, especially those dreaded Monday mornings or the start of the work week. It's the same when we were kids going to school, only worse once your in the work world.

feel absolutely the same way. Nothing better than deep peaceful sleep, enhanced by some vivid dreams at the end that make you wake up totally relaxed, refreshed and emotionally excited at least the very first moment, before you spend any thought on the waking world.
I alway try to hold on to those feeling, but waking life just sucks in comparison. When I wake up in such a state, I just want to keep it forever. Don't get up, do nothing else.
I think psychologically this state of emotional balance, these inner feelings of deep peace that go along with restful peace, give us an insight of what e.g. advanced yogis experience in their meditations. You often find them talking about inner peace. The difference is that they can "sleep" consciously (also during day-time).
To keep it bodybuilding-related we may not forget that intense weight training (until failure and beyond) adds a significant amount of stress on top of what our daily waking life, particularly job and women already provide to our nervous system.
This is why I can very well relate to some of the posts here, stating that doing nothing, bringing the mental state of sleep into the waking life so to speak, is one of the best ways to spend your spare-time. I also try spend a few days per month like that - the best mental vacation ever: Sleeping long, eating what I want, watching some good movies or TV series, but essentially don't do anything, not answering the phone, nothing.

Good post, meditation brings the type of quality into your life. I'm talking some the eastern mediations such as Zen and Taoism they bring peace and harmony from this world. We are taught to always be "doing something" best I can say is "be still and know".

Have something to look forward to and give yourself enough time to enjoy it. Treat yourself to some good coffee and a breakfast you enjoy, but do whatever prep work you can the night before.
Morning can be a hard time for the newly single, John. It'll pass.

i go to bed at midnite, don't fall asleep till 5-7am. sleep till noon. at least 12 hours in bed every night trying to get 6 hours sleep. pure hell. been like this since i was 3 years old. people that sleep well have no idea what a luxury that is. i would pay half a million dollars if someone could gaurentee me that i could fall asleep at midnite and wake up refreshed at 8 am every day for the rest of my life.

X2 hazbin I have never been a good sleeper. I fall asleep but wake up 3-4 hrs later stay up a couple hrs then go back for 3-4 more. Tried a bunch of meds and melatoin nothing works I give up. Then you got to face the day of stress and shit.
-
I have a very stressful and depressing job, and I see people at their worst, I work at night. So, typically my last few hrs of sleep are REM sleep... And the dreams are vivid...sometimes I will try and finish the dream---it time permits. Many times our REM sleep provides certain moments of clarity that we don't have when awake. Our sleep, or dream sleep is a way of organizing or reorganizing our thoughts, feelings and working out problems.

Hazbin why dont you try meditation?
I ve had similar problems in the past, I was a heavy drinker, gave that up then got addicted to xanax.I was in and out of jobs and drifted
around europe for about 5 years and then found myself in Australia, worked there for a few years in construction, I thought I was in control of
my life but at the same time depressed and felt something was missing in life.I left Australia and moved to Chiangmai (northern thailand) where im
currently living. Here I found out about the "middle way meditation" through some monks and thought what the hell I ll give it go, been doing it now
for the past 5 months and can honestly say its brought me peace and more importantly the gift of enjoying life something I rarely found comfort in.
I only spend 30mins first thing in the morning and 30mins before I sleep at night and it really brings my mind back into my body.Your probarly thinking what
the hell does that mean....well in todays world we re always thinking about something or other like work or some girl or why isn t there enough money in my bank account, the past, future etc, everytime your thinking about these things or anything for that matter your mind is actually there and not where it should be, back inside your body. This creates unrest and stress which in turn leads to alot of physical problems. The minds home is located at your centre point of gravity
around your mid section, people believe that your mind is your brain but that is just the office it uses for thinking, your mind (soul) rests at your centre.
When you meditate you bring your mind back into your body and essentially your seeing through your "minds eye".Also another thing I believe is helping other people, donate something small to charity, its better to give only 5 bucks with good intentions than to give a million because you feel you have too.Do positive things that can make a small difference, help somebody out, be nice to your work colleges, phone your mom more often, you get the picture, doing these simple acts in them self will bring really good karma into your life and will manifest into your physical well being.
Also ask yourself what really brings me joy in life, for me its simple things like hitting the gym, strumming my guitar (im shit) but still enjoy strumming
a few chords, playing with my dog and spending time with my girlfriend.Whats yours?
The universe is not some place "out there" rather its inside you, all of us.If you want to find the answers your looking for in life start within yourself and they will be there. You dont need to spend half a million dollars buddy.
Right now im teaching english in a primary school here and also volunteer at a school for burmese refugees, seeing these little kids and what they ve experienced in their lives you could not even imagine or believe it if I told you, it really opens your eyes and appreciate little things in life
Good luck to you and I hope you can find what your looking for.
regards

If you need to use chemical help to feel better it s because you are weak intelectually, emotionnaly and psychologically speaking. Basically you dont have enough rationnalistic power, education, knowledges to solve your problems by yourself and overcome em using pure logic. You obviously dont have an access to a valuable source of knowledge such as a decent tutor of development or resiliency either, nor do you care about all the free knowledge you can find in books. You prefer to play video games all day long instead, consume canabis , lift weights and maintain yourself in a state of immaturity and lack of autonomy, which is quite common nowadays in youg males who didnt have a father figure and were raised only by a mother. The rest of the scenario is crystal clear, you ll find a poor girl with a low self esteem who will work and that you will seduce with your muscles, while staying in this current state of immaturity, until she finds out and dumps you.
So you dont find answers to your questions, cannot face your shortcomings using your reflective power, you fear what your should truly do and escape it, luring your body and chemical circuits with the use of drugs, and of course get addicted to it the more you do it, thus reinforcing the vicious circle. You re barely "surviving" being supported by your parents and arent autonomous nor can you decide of your future by yourself. You re doing the minimum and are not living life using your maximum potential. You re sedating yourself because you fear to face reality and what you should do if you had some balls. You use other people who do the same as an excuse to justify your lack of willpower and drive. Worse, you portray your attitude as being cool and a model. It's when you re convinced -convincing yourself- what you re doing is the only thing you can do that you waste a lot of your lifetime stagnating in your own despair. You re basically building/creating your own suffering to come.
What you do not face and fight now, you will have to face, fight later in your life anyway. And what you cannot overcome, will be transmitter to your children if you ever have any, and They will have to face it, overcome it in their own life.
Once again you shouldnt have given an insight on your life thinking you would give sound advises to other people on here, only revealing how irevelant you are at life in the process.
I cant solve, overcome my shortcomings, let's consume some drugs, i will artificially feel better for a moment that's all i can hope for, cause i m too ignorant and badly surrounded to find answers using my brain and balls anyways. I'm pretty sure you re threatening psychologically your mother who support you financially and victimizing yourself about your past so you can keep milking her dry.
You will do the same with any girl who would fell for your fake, childish character.
About the topic now: what the author is describing is a clear symptom of a long lasting depressive mood settling for good. Fleeing reality in sleep, a reality you think you have no control over. One possible and realistic answer: remember you create your own hapiness by yourself, dont count on others to create hapiness in your life cause they are (mostly) focused on doing the same with their own life. You re the only master of your own hapiness. You re the one who creates it. If you re dependant of others who are suposed to create it for you, your own hapiness doesnt even belong to you.
Life is a balance between creating your own hapiness for yourself, and caring about others the rest of the time. Both need to be managed simultaneously. You cannot just focus on your own pleasure, it's being egocentrical and you will end frustrated, nor can you just focus on helping others burning your own energy doing so while seeking validation, which will also make you frustrated. It's a balance between both.
Read some books or go consult a psychologist.

And what's 'chemical' about cannabis? What a judgmental shit head you are. And try using a spell-check, smart guy.

HAVE YOU TRIED MARIJUANA SON?! Save you speeches and just go take a hit or two and just see if you don't feel a million times better.

I'm surprised that you actually had the time and patience to read that story book, James.
After the first two lines, I bailed.

Jesus Christ, you weirdo....lighten the fuck up.....All the guy is saying is that he likes to blaze up in the comfort of his own house. What's with your pseudo synopsis that you probably copied and pasted from some whiny, liberal gossip column?
And what's 'chemical' about cannabis? What a judgmental shit head you are. And try using a spell-check, smart guy.
LOL x2
