Unreal I was bored and watching White Collar and decided to see about the personal training certifications and how easy they are to get. I saw that Goodrum so boldly brags about his certification so I Googled AMFPT and found there website and this other one which is exactly like his.
There are 100 questions multiple choice. So I decided to take the test while watching TV and eating a bowl of Rasberry Sherbert (tghe best way to get certified). Unreal but I got an 81% and passed and all I had to do was pay them and that's all it took. Now, before you go all jack Lalane on me, I didn't pay.
I just wanted to see how easy it was to get the certifications that Goodrum has. He doesn't have the second one. I did NO studying and guessed on I would say maybe 20 of them. But I passed and now have the same qualifications as Goodrum. The only difference is I have actually spent 20+ year going to a gym and know how to lift, a National and World title, training with some of the biggest names in the industry and having some muscle and strength. Sorry Goodrum your certifications don't mean shit.

I can't find the link I got for the other test. It is for the AMFPT. It almost the same questions. I jsut can't believe you can get a certification that easy without studying. And I guessed on some of the questions.

Well , you only pay when you pass, so i think it took at least a whole week for Goodrum to get that license!

The test isn't a good test for knowledge re personal training. Many of the questions are a bit vague with no definite answers. Eg., number of reps for hypertrophy. That hasn't been determined as an absolute. Makes me wonder who made up this test and what his qualifications were. A lot of stuff about stretching, endurance and that sort of thing but almost bugger all about hypertrophy except basic questions relating to the names of muscles. My Google assisted score was 92. Anyone do better? The good thing about this test is it makes you learn things. The last time I studied PE was in 1963. Times have changed since then.

The MFT and CSN are nothing compared to the PhD Melvin
got donated for recently . I think he did a brilliant thesis on metaphysics, which was nothing for him because he told us his IQ is 131. He did this degree on a weekend through some obscure religious college but assured us he was working on a second doctorate as well. I guess being an house husband gives him plenty of time to do his research.

This is the true sad part about the personal training industry. There are no standards and someone with a certification from a shit place like this can call themselves a trainer.
More reputable organizations like ASCM are much better and also have a practical portion which was challenging at the time.
I am totally embarrassed by these types of trainers as they think they have the knowledge they need but do not.
Some gyms are getting smarter and only hiring trainers with degrees or a certification from one of the top few that actually have an appropriate test.
I do know that training is not only about the degree or certification, but the work that one goes through to get a degree and/or reputable certification does help.

Ron, Maybe you should create a test for a GetBig Personal Trainer Certificate. You could charge $50 to help you generate some money to keep the site going. I've attached a mock-up.

Ashworth isn't an online course, its a correspondence mail course. They send you the textbooks and weekly study plans. The only thing you do online is take the test because its the only way they can give you a time limit on passing or failing. Took me about a year to complete their Fitness & Exercise course.

That's exactly how I did it. I trained people as a side gig and I only got a certification to get PT insurance.
After I completed my first course, what I did was simply trained people for free for about 2 months in order to get some on hand experience until I felt comfortable enough to make a a for profit venture. It was a great way to do it because what people would not want free personal training???

From what I've seen (work at a gym) there are just as many bad trainers being taught by these so-called "top of the line" organizations.
Though, your comment on it not being only the degree or certification makes more sense to me. It seems that there are way too many trainers who get their certification through ACE or whatever and looked like they have never worked out in their life and sound like morons with broscience, etc. while there are guys who have legitimate knowledge (doing it all their life, etc.) who won't get hired because they aren't certified. It's to the point where they take the certificate too much into consideration. We hired a trainer that had like 5 degrees/certificates in the area. He was probably late 20's, however you had to be an idiot to buy any sort of training from him. We had 65 year olds in better shape then him.

I could mooch off a woman just as well but let me make things clear. I don't have any trouble paying bills. My business covers pretty way more than my actual expenses.

Hahaha, I got a 78% and passed the test and am now a certified personal trainer (again) lol I haven't trained anyone in about 8 years and did the online test while eating lunch and watching tv :)

That's correct. No certification... no insurance. You can operate as a PT uninsured but it would be very stupid to do so. It would be easy for a person to claim they were injured by you and sue for damages

They could do that now. Seems like you'd have less of a chance of getting sued if clients knew you didn't have insurance since they'd have far less to gain by suing an individual who wasn't backed by a big company.
Don't rely your insurer's integrity, Vince. Those guys are in the business of taking payments and then finding ways not to pay claims. What a racket.

Yes, but it would be useless. If you got sued, then the first thing the plaintiff would say for argument is that you weren't certified and that you should have never been doing any personal training to begin with.

The resistance I utilize is their own bodyweight and gravity. I am going to start using Lebert Equalizer bars and their Buddy System Straps soon but none of that is required for someone that wants to get back in shape which is the majority of clients

I agree it's prudent to have it. I'm required by law to carry public liability and workers comp so I do, as well as vehicle insurances. I despise insurance companies tho. In the last 5 years I've seen them do their best to engineer a system whereby they basically never have to pay a workers comp claim. I hope I never have to deal with them.

Well, drkaje, what I mean is it would be amusing to see the way Goodrum's brain works. He is always thinking about saving his pennies. I don't think I have heard of anyone else choosing the gay lifestyle to save pennies. He claims he can pay his bills but he qualified it by saying 'covers pretty way more than my actual expenses". It is usually the inexperienced person or people who who have to soft a heart that feel sorry for him. At first I kinda felt sorry for him because I thought he was a little mentally disturb for real. Well, drkaje, what I mean is it would be amusing to see the way Goodrum's brain works. He is always thinking about saving his pennies. Unreal I was bored and watching White Collar and decided to see about the personal training certifications and how easy they are to get. I saw that Goodrum so boldly brags about his certification so I Googled AMFPT and found there website and this other one which is exactly like his.
There are 100 questions multiple choice. So I decided to take the test while watching TV and eating a bowl of Rasberry Sherbert (tghe best way to get certified). Unreal but I got an 81% and passed and all I had to do was pay them and that's all it took. Now, before you go all jack Lalane on me, I didn't pay.
I just wanted to see how easy it was to get the certifications that Goodrum has. He doesn't have the second one. I did NO studying and guessed on I would say maybe 20 of them. But I passed and now have the same qualifications as Goodrum. The only difference is I have actually spent 20+ year going to a gym and know how to lift, a National and World title, training with some of the biggest names in the industry and having some muscle and strength. Sorry Goodrum your certifications don't mean shit.

He was some guy who started shit with the wrestlers from the seats. They used him to pick on. He would then try to sell them Magic Sticks and Bee Pollen. And it got so bad no one wanted him around.
There is so much shit I am already tired. In short, if you don't like the way I treat him then sorry. Maybe you guys can get together and form a little support group and help each other. This was after numerous attempts by him for over 2 years to do so. If Keith is signing a contract for 7,000 dollars, then he shouldn't have any trouble making restitution to Travis and giving him his money back.

Unreal I was bored and watching White Collar and decided to see about the personal training certifications and how easy they are to get. I saw that Goodrum so boldly brags about his certification so I Googled AMFPT and found there website and this other one which is exactly like his.
There are 100 questions multiple choice. So I decided to take the test while watching TV and eating a bowl of Rasberry Sherbert (tghe best way to get certified). Unreal but I got an 81% and passed and all I had to do was pay them and that's all it took. Now, before you go all jack Lalane on me, I didn't pay.
I just wanted to see how easy it was to get the certifications that Goodrum has. He doesn't have the second one. I did NO studying and guessed on I would say maybe 20 of them. But I passed and now have the same qualifications as Goodrum. The only difference is I have actually spent 20+ year going to a gym and know how to lift, a National and World title, training with some of the biggest names in the industry and having some muscle and strength. Sorry Goodrum your certifications don't mean shit.

I'm not defending goodrum or anything but the link you are quoting is american sports and fitness not AMFPT, american sports and fitness has been on the list from the Better Business Bureau as a scam and should not be confused with AMFPT which is emailed to a grader then sent back with the results. i hold an amfpt certification only because it helped me first get started training clients for very little money. goodrum knows nothing about fitness and shouldn't be allowed to teach anything but pole smoking seminars. having said that i just thought i'd clarify the difference between american sports and fitness and american muscle and fitness because they are two absolutely different certifications

Goodrum how can you say you have more friends. where the fuck are they. NO ONE defends you. Even the guys who rag on me fro raggin on you still dislike you they just don't like the way I keep at it. There is NOT one person in the bodybuilding industry that respects you. No one with half a frontal lobe would do business with you. All the websites you mention you are most hated person on them.
