Cable crossover station... Hate hate hate it million little guys 140 lbs some not even hit pubertyas yet everybody wants t do cable crossovers max holding up the cable station doing cable crossovers.... And old fat guys Not realising that is an advanced isolation movement which means you need to first have pecs.... So when a serious trainer like myself wants to do pressdowns it's full of guys lining up to do cable crossovers
-
leg extensions because they burn far more than anything else but dont even do anything
-
Basil loves them all because they're all great for athletes as opposed to those pesky barbells and dumbells!
-
At most gyms it's the squat rack. That is fine by me, then I never have to wait.
-
The machine squat... weakest skinniest idiots load up 10 plates on each side and swear they are squatting 900lbs for reps ::)
and then there is this piece of shit-seated calve machine.. does absolutely NOTHING

use the lat pulldown or dedicated press machine. whats an "advanced guy" like you worrying about cable movements anyway?- why not french press, extension?
why use cable xover for tris anyway?- its for pecs. maybe its you who is the jerk?..do you own the machine?...are others not as special as you so they arent allowed to use it?
typical 'roid moron.

Isn't that what Zack Khan used and snapped both his knees?

Exactly unless there is a moron in there doing curls. I love chest day and back the best nobody messing with the weights I deadlift or dumbell row and chest day no one ever pressing those heavyass dumbells in my gym I don't even try to bench anymore always ram packed with guys pulling the bar Orr each others chest
and I never have to wait on the Chin bar either because they are hard noone does them ... You will see a guy doing machine rows with loads of plates... And can't even do 5 chins... 90% of guys are pure ego

Why wouldn't it do anything? I think it might be as legit exercise as curl for your biceps. I would like to hear reasons why people hate this exercise so much. It might not be as effective for your quads as the squat is, but that doesn't make the exercise bad...

I use pressdowns to warm up my elbows before skull crushers but then anyone with any clue about training would realise that thanks for your "input"

I was thinking the exact same thing , no body squats anymore and if they do it's knee bends above parallel
-
any calf machine in most gyms
-
For me personally it's the hyper-extension stand (wouldn't really call it a machine because it's a bodyweight-only piece of equipment).
Basically whenever I use it I always seem to be situated in such a way that it crushes my balls on every rep - no matter how far forward or how far back, my balls get in the way and the pain is excrutiating.
Basically what I'm saying is that my nutsack gets to failure before my lower back does. :-X

Gotta etch that detail into your pecs son!!!!

Yes I agree but you have to have pecs first....

I was just kidding, it pisses me off too.

i dont mind waiting to using the cable cross over machine... but when this guy here uses it, it just makes me wanna throw a fastball to his face and say damn maybe you should go outside and take some real batting practice at the cages

Even the flotsam should be able to spell exercise!
Cable cross over is almost useless. Why? Well, when you use heavy weights it becomes dangerous. It is as useless as using a rope for triceps pressdowns.

now that you bring it up why do people do that? haha
-
Most guys who lift weights copy others. So if someone sees a guy in a mag doing rope pressdowns he starts doing them and then the flotsam copy him. It can be effective but not the way I see everyone doing it. The triceps contract fully in the last few degrees of the movement. What do muscleheads do? They go outwards at the bottom just when they need to maintain tension. A totally wasted exercise.
-
So what's your recommended technique for rope pressdowns ?

We got a nice one with a split down the center so your dong doesn't get crushed. :)

Go to 3:35, maybe this flotsam by the name Phil Heath needs to take your advice. Cable Cross overs are useless to him---for his pec development

Let me tell you that is a dangerous piece of equipment to use when you go heavy. I doubt many of the champs use it for size. That isn't the way Ray Mentzer recommended you hold your arms. This is a very unstable exercise and quite dangerous to control when heavy weights are used.

;D the cable crossover isnt a "mass builder". how heavy can you go? its impossible to use much more than yoru bodyweight, or else youd be pulling yourself up into the air, not pulling the weights up. how would it be dangerous? i think one would need to have some extremely horrible form to make it a dangerous exercise. the cable crossover is a good isolation exercise.
-
If I only I had stopped using the rope years ago, think of how huge my triceps would be ::)
-
any hammer strength machine
people swoon over them and say "it's just like real dumbbells!"
here's an idea, use real dumbbells
-
The "yes/no" machine (as I like to call it). Only females should ever be allowed to use in the first place.
-
Smith Machine - usless piece of trash.
-
swiss balls and kettlebells.

Smith Machine - usless piece of trash.
the only use i have for it is upright rows when my lower back really hurts, or i am trying to focus on the negative of the upright row.......nothing else..

Who am I talking to here, a novice? I am telling you that once you get heavy you can't control the movement as it will want to go in other directions. That is when you can injure yourself.

Bullshit.

The Smith machine that is angled at about 10 degrees is an excellent machine as long as it runs on linear bearings and has a straight bar. The angle will feel good for bench press, inclines and even squats.

i dont agree with this.. i believe that any exercise helps to build the muscle to a certain extent.. i dont buy this "isolation" thing!!.. same as when some ppl say when you do high reps it helps to define you muscles!!..
-
The "yes/no" machine (as I like to call it). Only females should ever be allowed to use in the first place.
I actually feel that the yes machine is the most underrated piece of gym equipment. Great machine for hip/glute activvation. Maybe not the best for bodybuilding, but for strength training in sports it is a great machine.
-
-smith machine, i'm not on 6 gr of aas and 40 ui of gh and slin, so i had to work out to gain muscle, i"m not allowed to arrive at gym asleep and collapse on a smith for doing several uninspired set of partial bench and half squat.
-
LOVE this calf machine. LOVE it.
That calf machine is TRASH!!. every gym i belong to right now has that exact calf machine and its pure garbage.
-
Smith Machine - usless piece of trash.
100% agree. Dont think i have used this once in the last 3-4 years.

you didn't read what I typed I don't hate it because it's not effective I hate it because it's misused by morons... 140lbs no chests that movement is an advanced isololation movement meaning you have to have big pecs to see the benefit of using it in my gym you have 20 guys queinh up tapping away on there black berrys waiting to do 10 sets each on it

The thing I hate is when ppl use equipment that they dnt need to use...
barbell curls in the squat rack...just pick the damn barbell up off the floor, why stop other ppl from squatting.
just lately ive seen a lot of guys do sit ups and other ab variations on the bench press...NOT a bench in the free weight area, but they stop others from benching. Selfish.
-
Curls in the squat rack is the worst
-
haha, at all the hate on smith machines......and even hammer strength......almost all the equipment is fine to use as long as you use it properly and push yourself. I've known quite a few guys who babble about "only free weights man....I'm hardcore!" and they squat w/3 inches range of motion, bounce the bar off their chest on bench and do the sway back-hip thrust for bicep curls......LOL

How else are they gonna take their biceps out of the exercise!?
-
If i could get rid of one thing at my gym it would be this piece of shit... THE MIRROR... worst thing to put in a gym, every twink in the world wants to see themselves doing 10lb DB curls or in front of the racks
(http://www.24oranges.nl/wp-content/uploads/2009/05/bodybuilder_in_the_mirror.jpg)

haha, EXACTLY! Don't want to actually work the muscle you are supposed to right?

I seriously wonder what would happen to gym membership numbers, if all gyms removed all mirrors. I suspect numbers would plummet by 50% or more.

That's because everyone's too lazy to do free weights. Now its all cables and gas.
-
Very true nobody wants to do the hard excerises
guy will do pull downs with the stack ... Can't do 5 chins
guy will put four plates on the bench press and get his friends to pull it off him
won't do dumbell presses because they are hard and you can't gethis friend to pull it off him
guys like Arnold etc back in the day were the real deal they did all excersises. 90%of pros today train like pussies..
-
Smith is good for shoulder presses and shrugs, that's about it.
-
Agree it goof for a bit of variety when it comes to shoulders and maybe incline presses but that's it....
-
Today again 3 guys on the cable cross overs 5 minutes between sets messing about on their phones
looked like they have never worked out fat endomorph that a belongs under some dumbells or barbells after a good hour run on the treadmill.. just in the gym to fuck around after standing there for ten minutes asked how many sets left guy said 5 sets do I want to work in I just lagged and sai it's ok
made me wonder if I dint have the genetics for muscle building ... Would I even waste my time lifting weights or would I just do cardio and keep in shape...
-
At least they're in the gym instead of the chip shop. What do you expect from novices? Cut 'em some slack.
-
May as well be in the chip shop.... Everyone was a novice once but the key is trying to learn. These fools come in an do the same shit week in week out.... Also when I was a novice I started training at a leisure centre till I learned how to work out properly started to out grow the gym then I moved to a hardcore gym ... These kids nowadays feel no way to start straight in a hard core gym which is fine if you are there to train trustme man there is nothing more annoying than seeing some stupid kid lying on a bench you're waiting to use doing one arm flat dumbell presesses while his other arm holding a mobile phone to his other ear laughing andtalking away ... Go do that dumb shit in a leisure centre.
