A majority thinks they should move it - but a clear majority also believes they have the constitutional right to build here. More notable might be the 40% of americans willing to wipe ass with Constitution.
54% of NY Sate voters: "Because of American freedom of religion, Muslims have the right to build the mosque near GZ
The controversy surrounding a proposed mosque near Ground Zero leaves New York State voters with conflicting opinions about religious freedom and the sensitivities of the families of 9/11 victims, according to a Quinnipiac University poll released today.
By a 54 - 40 percent majority, voters agree "that because of American freedom of religion, Muslims have the right to build the mosque near Ground Zero," the independent Quinnipiac (KWIN-uh-pe-ack) University poll finds. Another 7 percent are undecided.
But these same voters agree 53 - 39 percent, with 8 percent undecided, "that because of the sensitivities of 9/11 relatives, Muslims should not be allowed to build the mosque near Ground Zero."
And by a 71 - 21 percent majority, voters agree "that because of the opposition of Ground Zero relatives, the Muslim group should voluntarily build the mosque somewhere else."
By a 45 - 31 percent margin, New York State voters say they have a "generally favorable" opinion of Islam, with 24 percent undecided.

So 240 cries about religion on this board then posts this spinster propaganda shit?
You've circled around this "right to build it there" argument for weeks now when no one but you has actually argued it. ::)
-
Every single poll I have seen states that Americans and New Yorkers don't want the Mosque built, but believe that the Terrorists who are behind the Mosque have the "right" to build it. This is hardly earth shattering news and has been rehashed over and over again ad -nauseum.
Making this a constitutional issue is a simplistic ploy ( largely orchestrated by individuals who are completely ignorant regarding what the constitution says, or by others who only think that the constitution exists to further their own agendas) that distracts stupid people from what the debate over the ground zero Mosque is really all about.
Thankfully, most people haven't fallen for the trap.
Unfortunately, 240 or bust isn't "most people".

Well said.
240 was called out on his constitutional claims by kazan almost 3 weeks ago. He still hasn't answered the questions asked of him. Wonder why?

There was an argument between these people and another imam last week over their avoiding questions on it as it makes them look even shadier. Thankfully, they couldn't be handling this any worse. The MSM has spent weeks trying to champion this mosque and they're still losing support over it. 8)

I have the right to own a car. That doesn't mean that a Mercedes dealership is obligated to give me one.

Imagine that? Its not like the ACLU has ever tried to get churches to remove nativity scenes from in front of their churches at Christmas or anything.

Good eye- I was just thinking the same thing lol.
Either that or it's an amazing coincidence that two extremely stupid people with a poor command of the English language and the same political views decided to post on this board at the same time.
-
I would say 54% of NY state voters don't understand the difference between a right and a privilege. Our rights are laid out plainly in the constitution. No wonder America is in the shape it is

-
I'd be willing to bet a large percentage of those polled against misunderstood the question.

He's cut from the same cloth as SamsonEnterprises. Just doesn't have the intellectual capacity to cover it up.

I am coming less and less to the belief that these people have a right to build this based on their personal crap, the taxes, the shady past, the shady circumatances as to how this thing was bought.
You idiots just claiming a right now matter what how about this -
Go rob a bank, sell some drugs, and go apply to a bank for a home loan and tell the underwriter that the deposit came from drug deals and other behaviors you refuse to disclose. She how far your rights get you.
In my mind, there is a reason they are pursuing this with blazing speed, that being there is far more shady stuff coming out they know otherwise would and will deep six this mess.

Yup. This is exactly why they're doing it. The longer they wait the more shit that comes out on this guy and the less their chances of this atrocity being built.

its damn near a full time job correcting your ignorance 240...
I agree with OZ id say chance of misunderstanding a question on this would be very good.

These vermin are never building this disgrace. I predict someone will come in and buy it off the hands of Gamal and Rauf and let them save face.

I can't see it ever getting built either. Way too much opposition across party lines. Anyone who doesn't have their head in the ground can understand what a terrible idea this is.

Some of the arguments here just seem hypocritical as people seem to be just towing their party's line.

That's because they are stupid. Like all the "but the Constitution this and that" posts in broken English.

And where were these people when Obama was passing mandates in ObamaCare to purchase aprivate product from a private corp under IRS penalties and fines?

The arguments are absolutely hypocritical. Many of the people spouting some non-existent Constitutional right to build the mosque are completely silent when there are actual Constitutional violations involving Christians.

and where are these same hacks on ObamaCare? the expansion of the Patriot Act? etc?

I know this seems like a real double standard. And you know I have no problem arguing against either liberal or conservative here, but it does seem like this should be something both sides are together on.
