Lee Banks looks FANTASTIC. Best new pro I have seen in some time. Better than that ossa omanoid whatever his fucking name is. Banks will do some damage.

Looks like Dave Pulcinella will be able to win the 50+ class in five years if that's what he wants to do. He was very close to winning his pro card at the North Americans more than once.

Lee Banks, overall winner

Chris Filipelli, 50+
Another 3 guys on their way to fame and fortune.

LMMFAO! :D

Serious lack of talent in the 50+ class. Look at him. Third stage Palumboism. The class must be full of guys who have trained some time in their youth and now realise they can finally dominate in something when the succesfull guys have finished their glorious careers...so it's completely irrelevant competition.

Parenthesis?

My man, Big Ron Partlow got shafted. He placed 2nd last (14th) in the super-heavyweights yet had probably the best condition among them. He wasn't top 5 material necessarily but should have been top 10. Another example of a Canadian competing in an American show and getting fuked by the judges.

Guess that blows your whole Canadian conspiracy theory...

Guess that blows your whole Canadian conspiracy theory...
Yes and no, Todd Jewell should have been placed a lot lower. His conditioning was crap, but his name is pretty popular in the US and will always place above a Canadian on US territory
(http://contests.flexonline.com/images/contests/large/74377.jpg)
Even Yersky shouldn't have beaten Ron. Lacked the hardness and condition also
(http://contests.flexonline.com/images/contests/large/74070.jpg)
-
Bro...please. I can pick out many reasons why your boy placed where he did, and was beaten by the guys you mentioned....you think the judges really care (or even know) where he's from?...LOL
Who are these other "great Canadians" that you believe have been wronged throughout the years?

Are you fuking kidding me? No way Todd Jewell should have been 3rd place. He looked like he was still a few weeks out and still had a good 7-8 lbs to lose. Conditioning is vital at that caliber of a show, and if you're noticeably off, you should be relegated to a lower placing automatically. Yes, Jewell has muscle and ok symmetry/shape, but what does that matter if you're off that much? Structurally Ron has a tougher time. He's tall and isn't put together as well as some others, but he makes up for that with great condition and hardness as well as looks great in most of his poses. Pose for pose he beats Jewell -- in that show.
And you're saying politics don't play a role and they judges don't pay attention to the names on the competitor list? Are we on another planet?

You may certainly be on another planet, as you're clearly talking out of Uranus ;D
Pose for pose, your boy is put together like machinery...I didnt see the prejudging, or any comparisons...just the pics like everyone else. You dont get an automatic pass into the top 5 just because you had better conditioning than a few guys in front of you.....missing BP can cost you just as much, as can a sub-par physique.

Keith Williams isn't put together that great and legs are severely lacking, not to mention lacking the definition Ron had, however he cracks the top 2 at the USA's and here no problem. He's very good, but one can question how he places so high, but he's a Weider boy so...
The only bodypart Ron really misses is his calves, in comparison to the others. His quads could use more size, but what are you going to award? Quads that are pretty big but striated, dry and shredded, or Quads that are bigger but soft? Easy choice for me.
Listen, I know you know politics play roles in contests from local shows up the ranks. Maybe you don't want to say anything since you don't want to rattle the powers that be since you're M.O is to keep the peace, and that's fine. But if you honestly think an unknown Canadian bodybuilder is going to get a fair shake in a U.S show on U.S soil, against popular U.S names, you're not being realistic.

This is Bob your talking to you...Just keep that in mind

Still waiting for your list....
Anthony Wolf Williams, Henderson Thorne and Claude Groulx were constantly placed behind others they should have beaten and this was commonly known and stated. They weren't top bodybuilders but they were bounced out of the top 10 many times when they should have been in it.
Fouad has taken his bruises as he climbed the political ladder at the beginning of his pro career. Every show he did there was a valid argument that he should have placed higher.
Paul Dillet was the smart one. He moved to the US from Canada and started winning pro shows. Had he not made that move and surrounded himself with "industry people," it's a safe bet he wouldn't have been even half as successful.

Bro...please...at least have a valid argument.
First, Keith is not a "Weider guy"...dont know where you get that info from....
Second, He's in a different league than your boy...not even comparable...
Third, Your boy is missing a lot more than leg width....he has no arms, no thinckness, and a back which lacks so much, the womens winner wiped the floor with him from behind (feel free to post comp shots)
STILL waiting for your long list of Canadians you feel were robbed due to politics.
As for unknowns getting a fair shake...who the fuck was Marc LaVoie last year??
Stop while you still can save a shread of dignity...

Keith signed with Weider this year. It was posted as an article on Flexonline's home page. ::)

Jewell

Ron
While Yersky and Jewell may have a thicker back (Yersky's isn't that much thicker), Rons is drier. Rons hams are fuking shredded while both Yersky's and Jewell's are soft as fuk. Pose goes to Ron.
No Bob, you should stop and collect what respect you may have from others still exists. You're so full of shit now that I'm losing respect for you. You try to act as if you're a straight shooter that tells it how it is. Well guess what? Now you're totally exposing yourself trying to say politics don't exist in bodybuilding show. Someone of your stature in the sport should know better, and maybe you do, but this is a no-win argument for yourself. If you think Ron should have placed where he did is one thing, but to literally say politics aren't a factor and Canadian guys competing in the US have as good as a chance as US guys winning show on U.S soil is insane. Check yourself, guy.

I'm sorry, must have mised it.....what was the reply to LaVoie winning 2 procards in 2008 as a complete unknown CANADIAN?
Beating Lee Banks, who was the odds on favorite, AMERICAN, NPC athlete, etc, etc....
Bottom line is bud...there havent been but a handful of Canadian pro's who were any good.....
You're making a fool of yourself trying to justify your boy placing hbigher, when the fact is...he just isnt that good....in the Nationals or USA, he wouldnt have made the cut

No, you're making a complete fool of yourself trying to say politics don't play a role in the judging at a bodybuilding show when everybody knows they do.
Whatever, Marc was one of the few that beat an American one time. Who knows what the story is. Maybe Lee Banks pissed off a judge that year or maybe Marc already had a good relationship with the NPC.
To say Ron isn't that good when the guy just placed 6th place at a US National show, and arguably should have placed 1-2 places better, is pretty dumb. I'm very critical of a bodybuilder who lacks shape and has a poor structure, but Ron makes up for a lot of shortcomings once he settles down into his poses. Crazy lat spread, freaky shoulders, shredded legs and hams etc. And for a tall guy he does very well with what he's been born with, and to boot the man always comes SHREDDED and isn't a typical lazy fuk who relies on his god given genetics. He's placed 2nd place 6 times at the Canadians yet keeps on striving to the top. Everyone in the bodybuilding scene in canada knows the Canadian judges have it out for him. The man who beat Ron at the Canada's this year for 1st place just placed 2-3 spots BEHIND Ron at the North American's. That's a little interesting in itself because everyone thought Ron got robbed by the judges at the Canada's in his loss to Loufti yet goes over there and beats him decisively. My point, just like US bodybuilding, Canada bodybuilding is ran by politics also.

I hate to say it, but it's kind of sad to me when some of these new pros are in tears over receiving their pro cards when they are already 35-40 years old.
I think any given pro bodybuilder can make a very good income from bodybuilding if they are intelligent. If they are not intelligent, one must be top 6-10 in the world to make a good income. I would extend this to the top 20 but I really don't think it is the case.
In three separate videos I saw Vince Taylor talking about how he had bills to pay. In 2006 he was 50 years old and the 11th best bodybuilder in the world and still had bills to pay!
It makes me wonder if it's really worth it for these guys...
Some bodybuilders who have done VERY well for themselves: Rich Gaspari, Bob Cicherillo, and Jay Cutler.

so now there is a Canadian conspiracy against your boy Ron, AND an American one as well??
I'm sure the "powers that be" just want to keep him down so he cant stand next to Jay and show everyone how he REALLY deserves to be Mr. Olympia....
Difference between you and me is, I'm not emotionally involved here...just looking at physiques and calling it the way I see it.

There's politics in most bodybuilding shows, especially important ones. When Nick Medici won the teen usa over Cody, that was one of the best examples of recent political bs rearing it's ugly head. Cody was in an entire different league. I'm pretty sure you were there so you know, so now try telling me politics don't exist in bodybuilding competition.

So what "politics" do you believe to exsist against your boy Ron? So the Canadian Fed and the American Fed have now co-conspired to keep him down?
He lost, plain and simple...He's not that good...accept it.
You've got an excuse in every pocket...everything but REALITY.
-
i thought only the USA and Nationals gave out Pro Cards? WTF is this? None of these guys will do jack in the pros. And one is so old he cant get a sup contract, place last in a show or get women and enjoy his card. What's the pt? Manion is out of control.
How many cards where given out yrly in the 80s and 90s?

Times have changed...back in those days, you had to win the OVERALL to advance onto the pro's. Today, class winners, Masters winners, 2nd Overalls, etc...
Before that, it was even tougher...winning the Mr. America was considered a amateur show, so you had to win the Universe to move on...
That said, I'm not sure qualifying 2-3 guys a year was good for the growth of the sport...as usual, somewhere in the middle was probably the best for the growth and integrity of the sport

Whatever Chick. If Ron was well known in the US he would have easily placed a little higher. I'm not the only one that knows he got shafted. Tons of people who sat in the audience were telling him the same thing. If someone sucks and is off, I'll say it, but when 2 guys who are noticeably off place in front of somebody shredded as fuk at 270lbs, justice is far from served.

Bro...you're rambling now....shredded or not, he's not as good. Conditioning is not the only criteria by any stretch, and he has too many flaws to place higher.
One guy at 90% can be better than another at 100%...It's nice that he was conditioned....now all he has to do is get some arms and back and overall thickness.
-

Ray doesn't hold anything back and his assessment of Ron was"
SR: Hard and dry. Needs more size on arms. Good showing!
Funny, that doesn't sound like a guy that sucks.
I'm not rambling at all. I've been clear in each message stating my point. I don't care where you think Ron should have placed. My issue is you act like there's not politics in bodybuilding competitions, which is laughable.

I havent "acted" like anything...I merely pointed out why your boy was placed where he was...because of the merrits of his physique. Not any "politics". You claim the same "politics" are responsible for him losing on his home turf as well....
What a coincidence...! ::)

If you had a clue, you would realize i was simply pointing out it happens everywhere. Strangely enough, the guy who beat him here in Canada placed 2-3 spots lower than him at The North Americans and both looked pretty much identical. Why? Because Ron didn't have the same judging panned that won't allow him to place first at the Canada's for the past 6 years. Instead, this panel wouldn't allow him to place higher than 6th and ahead of well known American's Jewell and Yersky. 6th place was no joke though and Ron did awesome for an unknown face. You gotta be drunk if you think Jewell or especially Yersky should have placed ahead of him. You keep dissing this guys physique, yet the only negative Shawn pointed out was that his arms need to be brought up.
You don't hear me complaining about Mike Rice's placement other than the fact he should have beaten Jewell for 3rd place. Jewell's a big name in the amateurs though so no surprise he's getting gifts thrown at him.
It should have been:
Abbas
Keith Williams
Mike Rice
Ron Partlow
Todd Jewell
Yersky

So now, you have him in 4th, when you initally said he wasnt top 5 material...(which makes 6th pretty much right, doesnt it?)
Has he gotten better since you joined in the thread discussion?

Yes, when I realized the exactly placings ( i thought they had him 14th initially) and the only one other than Keith and Abbas that was better than Ron was Mike Rice, that equals 4th place.

So just to clarify....
When you thought he was 14th, he wasnt top 5 material...but should have been top 10
When you found out he was 6th, he was suddenly better and in 4th place in your opinion?

Not quite. I didn't even pay attention to the top 5 with the exception of Keith and Abbas nor did I look at the pictures at that point and thought they would have been all on the mark. Todd is a very good bodybuilder when he's on but didn't realize he was that off, same with Yersky, until I viewed all of their pics. Usually top 5 is very high caliber but once I saw their conditioning was sub par that's when I realized Ron should have even been higher than 6th.

So you made these comments based on seeing no pictures, but just blind faith that whatever show your boy enters, he should inevitably win....unless there are politics, of course

Did I say he should have won? ::) You're starting to get ridiculous now. You know exactly what I said but playing stupid to avoid losing anymore ground.
And just another interesting fact: Ron wasn't even compared to the top 5! They didn't even give the man a chance to move ahead of Jewell and Yersky. Interesting. Ron beats everyone he's compared against in the prejudging 2nd call out yet they don't put him against Jewell, Rice or Yersky from the 1st call out to compare.

Losing ground.....??LOLOLOLOL
Please....first you said he wasnt top 5 material, then , you said he should have been fourth, then, you said you made your initial response without actually seeing any pictures....

So? I didn't think 2 guys in the top 5 would be that far off. I can at least admit if Jewell and Yersky came in shape we wouldn't be having an argument because they are put together better than Ron, but they did come holding water and soft and surprised they placed where they did, but then I remember something you don't like to admit happens in bodybuilding -- politics. Mike Rice should have been 3rd ahead of Jewell also.

Scrambling somthing fierce, arent you?
You're talking about politics, yet, you're able to place guys without ever seeing them on stage, or even pictures for that matter.
You're making yourself sound desperate and stupid...this isnt heresay, it's YOUR OWN POSTS.
when he was 14th (or so you thought)...he "wasnt top 5 material" but should have been top 10
Then you changed your tune when it was known he was actually 6th, now he should have been 4th and cried politics...
Why wasnt it politics when he "wasnt top 5 material"?
Time to fold tent, son...you're blinded by your "man"

Dude, you're useless. You're simply clinging to this irrelevant argument which has nothing to do with the fact you said there are no politics in bodybuilding. If you had any integrity this issue, which I've clearly explained, wouldn't be an issue at all but you're pathetically grasping at it all to avoid the further exploitation of you being full of shit. Cowardly way out, my friend.

Yes, he was awarded the second pro card in the Mens open
Im sure Sasha Ogata is happy for him.

Is that what I said? Feel free to post it up...
What I said, was that politics played no part in your boy placing where he did....an incomplete physique did.
It is funny to see you completely avoid the facts I posted...makes you look like a fool

no bob youre making yourself look like a fool in this thread w/ all your silly ramblings

2, no probably 3 more pointless pro cards dished out to people who will never place.
yep,
1) snooze
2) snooze
3) snooze
4) snooze
no one cares about these no names, their physiques are all subpar (as far as top level IFBB goes) and no one cares............i think they should keep it more elite, fucking givign the masters the "pity" pro card........maybe give out one for the overall
3 out or 4 of those guys would embarrass themselves on an IFBB stage, adn the other would place VERY shitty
-
The IFBB get a couple hundred dollars a year for everyone of these pro cards. More pros=more money. The NPC is going to get a $100 per card next year.

I'm assuming that pros only have to pay that money if they plan to compete?

If you want to be in good standings with them you need to pay your dues each year.

Serious lack of talent in the 50+ class. Look at him. Third stage Palumboism. The class must be full of guys who have trained some time in their youth and now realise they can finally dominate in something when the succesfull guys have finished their glorious careers...so it's completely irrelevant competition.
Wait till you turn 50 asshole
-
agree.
and i think that maybe i have chance to get pro card too as 57 years old ;D ;D

You look good for any age. You should do well entering the masters division.
I'm sixty-six and still training. - Actually harder and with more regularity since I retired last year. Wish I'd had this kind of time to devote to training when I was younger.

fucking snooze............he looks like every other 40 plus year old black competitor...........loo ks like melvin, looks like toney.........but not as good
this guy has been chasing his pro card for YEARS..........that should tell you somehting, they finally gave him one out of pity, cause thre was no one else in the show really.........but if they thought he would do anything in the IFBB.........he would have got one years ago
this just cheapens the IFBB image

Agreed.
Bodybuilding is DOMINATED by a small group of competitors who are just lightyears ahead of 99% of the other guys.
Pro BB is only for the genetic ELITE , it's very unlikely that any of the new pros can drastically improve to a point where they'd be competitive.
There's just no point in having so many pros when only a handful is actually competitive.
-

I've read theories on here for years as to what the IFBB could do to improve its image but in my opinion bodybuilding will never be mainstream because it is simply not that exciting. It is oiled up men in thongs posing on a stage after all. If they beat the shit out of one another after the results were announced that might be worth watching, but it is like watching a slide show of still lifes, and still lifes of 300 pound almost naked men. That is the reason bodybuilding doesn't have mass appeal. Although I do agree that lax judging will reduce the [already low] quality of bodybuilding in the eyes of the mainstream. Frankly I like the industry though and expect to be a part of it for a long time. Bodybuilding has helped me a lot in my personal life, even though I am hardly a bodybuilder. It will always have a special place in my heart I guess.

YEA right it didnt matter at all he had a fuckin insane size, shape and hardness, which is what defines a winning body..
must have been he moved to the us.............this is a joke rite?????
