For contest prep I always did Low intensity cardio first thing in the morning on an empty stomach, 45 mins on treadmill, 6 days a week
In the evenings 15 mins HIT cardio right after lifting, starting with 2-3 times a week and increasing the days as neccessary!

My theory....workout so hard that u're bodies got no choice but to be in shape...addicted to the stairmaster (3 plus hours a day), and need the cartharsis of lifting heavy after a stressfull day...just fortunate enough to love the process and have/make the time to do so...a dicipline junkie....After 25 plus years of doing this thank god the passion still burns....shit 5am stepping can't be all fueled by vanity....
No sermon's here...use if u want....to each their own...but don't hate if other's don't/need/desire....and for that one who asked about height...I'm a tall ass midget...at least 4 foot '15 in shoes....Peace

The theory goes...that w/ no carbs in your system....u're body has no choice to burn fat as a fuel source...but from my emprical data...it seems to work for me....plus I love that runner's high at 7am knowing that the hard part of your day is done....try it...see if it effective..sure method/theory/dogma serves a purpose but truth is what work...is what works....

Through the years i've bulked up for fun....I'm a school teacher, so got the summers off to go home to mom's cooking, cut back on cardio, gain strength, and heal joints....bitch about the stairmaster every sept for a week or two....but since 1/1/10 I've been pretty consistently lean....something about turning 40 and getting over a break up (so so theraputic)...they're days were i'm not as strong or the passion wane's but for the most part this little experiment is surprising me....Not really losing too much size/strength even w/ my cardio increase...could be the years of heavy lifting building a good base (mind u since '85)...renewed vigor...stars just lining up...don't really eat too clean...frozen burritos all day...and protein shakes after my night weights/cardio....sure genetics play a role....but i think the mental genetics trumps even that....dicipline/consistency fixes a lot...I'm just rolling w/ the positive flow....of course now that I've type this they will cease...because condescendingly acknowledging it will cause it's demise...fate/life is cruel like that...jk....plateau's enivitably come...so I've read.
