So if they're homos that automatically dqs them from being talented? ::)
You sure put a lot of thought into that didn't you?
drake is talentfree i would say
kanye is a very good producer but shitty rapper

you guys don't know shitDrake and Kanye are sick producers. Drake's underground stuff is pure sickness. But, he will lose it all to a girl...look at his rhymes, that is all that they are about...women, and the wrong type of woman...Niki Manaji,

Common, Talib, Hi Tek are all better freestylers than Em...is is good, but compared to Common (Sense), he is not as good, the quality shows.
Definitely not a rapper but I have almost all of Emenem's stuff (even know most of the lyrics) and I sure like Hill Street Gang - Rapper's Delight!Sugar Hill Gang. You're getting as bad as me. ;D
Is that wrong for some reason? ANd why is it not already mentioned.
"I said a hip hop, the hippie, the hippie to the hip hip hop
A you dont stop the rock it to the bang bang boogie.
Say up jumped the boogie to the rhythm of the boogie, the beat ....."
Sang it at a reunion once but had to use a cheat sheet 3/4 through. Anyone able to memorize it completely?
Doc, a while back I found myself at a 'drinking bout' with a bunch of wannabe rappers and one pro rapper and I was telling them all how much I hated rap.Nah, it be wasted on me. I have no ear for rap. Kinda like giving me 'expensive' wine. My palate doesn't know the difference between a fine or an ordinary vintage. However, you wanna talk rock music '65-'75, then I'm all ears.
Then one of them gave me a shit-load of rap recordings including sheets of the written lyrics and told me to read and listen to the words and the beat.
That started with Sugar Hill Gang (Rapper's Delight and Cherokee) and gradually led to Eminem ..... and I got hooked and most likely have the largest collection of rap music of anyone on this board.
I like the 'music' and Dre's beats but I have no idea of rap's history and background.
One person I know does his own rap recording in his basement and I gotta admit that it's phenominal shit.
If you tell me how to send a 'song' from iTunes, I'll send you a couple of his home-made recordings and you can tell me if it's decent rap or not.
Damn a white boy taking the top spot...Crazy! Although, Eminem is like crack to the angry white man....
It shouldn't be a surprise the guy deserves it fair and square especially with after this latest album...fucking sick...I don't think many understand how talented he is.
When I was in Germany I met Curtis Blow at a club he was performing at...lol
No Nas, no Kool G Rap, no KRS, etc.
This means that list ain't shit.
eminem is the best american rapper
NY without...
Souljaboy ::)
Toby left out Latin rappers. ::)
Three pages of the best of the 21st century and no mention of Wu Tang??~!! WTF is happening to Getbig...
but the legend:
Can you read jackass? I didn't make the list...It's from BET.
::)
oh...and you couldn't make side note stating the error of leaving out big pun, cuban link or real roxanne. i see that damn fool rick ross is on it.
i have no comment on turkey boy's kaknob sucking rappers.
pop killed hip hop
The hey day was Krs One, PE, Run DMC, Eric B, EPMD, etc.
now its just utter trash.
Of course...
But there is always Slayer! lol
Pun should not be on that list. Very limited body of work. If that is the case, Method Man should be on the list just for Tical alone. That album was one that you could listen to non-stop, and not be disappointed with shit.
Unlike Tupac, where you had to hear some dumb shit drop like "Keep Ya Head Up".
But I have to agree with Parker, I missed out on Common (Sense), which ain't so Common.
Shit, if you really want to talk about flow and speed, then you have to mention Big Daddy Kane, who could spit with anyone.
run dmc was fucking weak...just because it's oldschool doesn't mean it's good...

Yeah, we'll let you know when it matters what a 25 yr old turk thinks about American rap.... ::)
i'm educated
Eminem is the only rapper who is so talented that he can make white collar educated non rap fans think, appease the "hood"...as well as be a chart topper while maintaining the outmost respect from all his peers. All his peers listen to him.
He's so much more advanced than anyone else.
The video wiggs posted proves it. Just listen to that! It's poetry, it's rage and emotion tailore made for the "beat" he is rapping over. It's art, period.
I love all types of music and enimem is the only guy that can make me stop and go, wow.
[Notorious B.I.G.]
Uhh, I dream filthy
My moms and pops mixed me with Jamaican Rum and Whiskey
Huh, what a set up
Shoulda pushed 'em dead off, wipe the sweat off
Uhh, cause in this world I'm dead off, squeeze lead off
Benz sped off, ain't no shook hands in Brook-land
Army fatigue break up teams, the enemies
Look man, you wanna see me locked up, shot up
Moms crotched up over the casket, screamin BASTARD
Cryin, know my friends is lyin
Y'all know who killed 'em filled 'em with the lugars from they Rugers
or they Desert, dyin ain't the shit but it's pleasant
Kinda quiet, watch my niggaz bring the riot
Giving cats the opposite of diets
You gain thirty pounds when you die no lie, lazy eye
I was high when they hit me, took a few cats with me
Shit, I need the company (uh-huh)
Apoligies in order, to T'Yanna my daughter
If it was up to me you would be with me, sorta like
Daddy Dearest, my vision be the clearest
Silencers so you can't hear it
Competition still fear it, shit don't ask me
I went from ashy to nasty to classy, and still
Amen!....Even now, that I don't enjoy rap/hip hop as much, I still enjoy Eminem....I can hear his flow, lyrics and passion in all his music....Never changed his style to be a sell out always looked to other music for inspiration...The guy is a once in a generation artist
The man is a poet. The emotion and rage that comes out of him is amazing. His words fit together like no one else.
And he doesn't have to make up his own language to make his rhymes work lol...
The second rap in the video wiggs posted is unreal. Just amazing.
I am to busy listening to Eminem albums from 1998 on
Pretty dumb not to have any of the old school guys who started rap on the list.
One guy who I think will be on the list as he gets further in his career is Canadian rapper Belly. He's not scared to give contraversial opinions, is backed by Snoop Dogg, and can rap about mid-east politics while making party jams too:
Damn Straight the Beasty Boys had some party songs!!

1980's are still the best decade for Hip Hop, Rap, Heavy Metal, movies, etc.
90's were way better. Hair metal alone knocks down the 80's score

Hells no. The very early 90's were ok, but after that it was just plain awful.
Who's a Kirk Cobain fan then?
Little queef killed rock.Bought a lot of their cds. Swept along in the hype: listened to them trying to find something to like. They just gather dust, while I replay Disraeli Gears, Are You Experienced, etc.

I bought the first CD....it was ok, but AIC and Soundgarden were both FAR superior in every way to Nirvana.
I'm stuck in the 1980's. BDP, Run Dmc, Ice T, Eric B, PE, Jungle Brothers, Slayer, Maiden, Megadeth, Ozzy, SOD, Athrax, Mc Lyte, etc.
