I don't watch BET often but on MSN there was an article about a show last week...All I cared about was that Em was #1....And he was....I could care less about the rest...

Tupac 1A. Em, 1B. for best all time IMO

The Top 10

# 1 Eminem
Selling more records than anyone on the list, Eminem is not only praised for his commercial success, but is highly respected by his peers for his skill.

# 2 Lil Wayne
Lil' Wayne is a rock star. The Young Money Millionaire has shown the most growth in the 21st century.

# 3 Kanye West
The highly successful rapper/producer Kanye West is more than just a rapper. But the level of his rap game has been elevated since his debut.

# 4 50 Cent
In less than 10 years, 50 Cent has released four albums, three of which have gone platinum (or in some cases, multi-platinum). This controversial rapper has consistently put out hits.

# 5 T.I.
ATL-native T.I. may be controversial in his actions, but when it comes to rap, this MC has got the South on lock

# 6 Ludacris
It's hard to talk about the 21st century without mentioning Ludacris. The Atlanta-based rapper is arguably one of the most consistent when it comes to the quality of his music.

# 7 Drake
Aubrey "Drake" Graham has managed to win over the hearts of hip hop fans this past year. After releasing his debut album, "Thank Me Later," Drake has shown that he is the one to watch

# 8 Young Jeezy
Young Jeezy bumps in every whip, from the North to the South. This Southern MC is respected for his hardcore delivery and thug narratives.

# 9 Jadakiss
Jadakiss has always been praised for his complex rhymes and the meaning behind his words.

# 10 Officer Rick Ross
Rick Ross bossed up the game in the 21st century. He is one of the few rappers to survive a 50 Cent rivalry by continuing to put out quality music

there are only two good rappers tupac and dmx.

you guys don't know shit

only good ones there?

eminem and luda

drake is a homo so is kanye
Drake and Kanye are sick producers. Drake's underground stuff is pure sickness. But, he will lose it all to a girl...look at his rhymes, that is all that they are about...women, and the wrong type of woman...Niki Manaji,

Common, Talib, Hi Tek are all better freestylers than Em...is is good, but compared to Common (Sense), he is not as good, the quality shows.

Definitely not a rapper but I have almost all of Emenem's stuff (even know most of the lyrics) and I sure like Hill Street Gang - Rapper's Delight!

Is that wrong for some reason? ANd why is it not already mentioned.

"I said a hip hop, the hippie, the hippie to the hip hip hop
A you dont stop the rock it to the bang bang boogie.
Say up jumped the boogie to the rhythm of the boogie, the beat ....."

Sang it at a reunion once but had to use a cheat sheet 3/4 through. Anyone able to memorize it completely?

Doc, a while back I found myself at a 'drinking bout' with a bunch of wannabe rappers and one pro rapper and I was telling them all how much I hated rap.

Then one of them gave me a shit-load of rap recordings including sheets of the written lyrics and told me to read and listen to the words and the beat.

That started with Sugar Hill Gang (Rapper's Delight and Cherokee) and gradually led to Eminem ..... and I got hooked and most likely have the largest collection of rap music of anyone on this board.

I like the 'music' and Dre's beats but I have no idea of rap's history and background.

One person I know does his own rap recording in his basement and I gotta admit that it's phenominal shit.

If you tell me how to send a 'song' from iTunes, I'll send you a couple of his home-made recordings and you can tell me if it's decent rap or not.

1. Milli Vanilli
2. The Real Milli Vanilli
