Title: What's the most popular lifting routine these days?
Post by: Firemuscle on October 24, 2010, 01:09:40 AM
Ten years ago everybody was all about HIT. Lifting 2 or 3 times per week with super low volume. On getbig back then most of the guys lifted like that.

Is this still the most popular? I've never been a fan of it myself. I've never seen the point of oing super low-volume.

 I agree for sure.

These days when I work muscle groups I just keep blasting them for like an hour and a half until I get tired. It works a hell of a lot better then those 40 minutes workouts I used to do.

I hate those "45mins in-and-out" homos.

I like to go 45 minutes in-and-out on a bitch's pussy. But not in a gym.

I remember in the late 90's everyone was always so afraid of overtraining, they would just do these ridiculously low volume routines. I figured it was just a trend.

Crossfit combined with climbing and MMA.

the most "popular" of course, is the silly excercise balls used in everything from curls to squatting on.  Utter waste of time and gayness.  Not to mention the "chop saw" routine on the low-pulley.  Thank you Getbiggers, for not following the trends. :)

Volume. Doing about three sets just feels like a complete waste of time.

I just pyramid. Heavy to moderate weight, high sets, high frequency of training.

Minimum of 24 sets per workout, occasionally 28...try to be done at about an hour, hour and ten maximum. HIT was ok when i had joints that didnt ache all day, volume seems to feel better tho, much better pumps.

fist 7 and dog poo.

popular or not the only way to gain muscle is to train 5/6 day a week, lot of set, 5/12 reps range, basic for mass and strength, and few exercise for finition.

the only way to gain muscle is to train 5/6 days a week??...utter bullshit mate, that's so laughably untrue it hurts. A heavy three day split with good protein based diet is more than enough to put on a serious amount of mass if you're willing to bust your balls.

for me it's good, the less i do the less i'm big, that's all.

5/6 day a week, two benchpress (once in set of 6/10 reps-once with single until 95 % then floor press) and two squat training (once reg back squat once front squat)and twice chin's in one week that's it, and deadlift once every 15 day after) then you had bi's tri's and delt and stuff like incline dips etc.

the only work you should be doing is to provide a paycheck. there is no muscle building only temporary muscle inflation

Everything is temporary. Including the money you have.

Focusing on the paycheck all the time is for chumps.

40-50 sets per workout. 90mins long. Heavy at start, lighter towards the end with more reps.

The answer to this depends on what you want to achieve. Most popular for fittness? Building size? Strenght? Or what??

Of course when you are on gear like some of the guys in this thread are, you can get away with a lot more volume. It changes things.

For me, lifting weights doesn't consume all my energy, it energizes me. I feel drained for about 30 minutes after lifting but after eating and resting a little bit I feel liek it hasn't even phased me.
