Title: I'll look good . . . "in a few months"
Post by: BayGBM on November 14, 2010, 10:13:18 PM
...well you better get ready, 5 months isn't long to wait.

...I know...you should see when I'm in shape ...Well you will see in about 4-6 months...

Why is it that on a BB board there are so many out of shape guys (today) who keep telling us they are going to look good in a few months?  Why do you look like crap now to begin with?  Why are you on a BB board if you can't keep your shit together?  These guys remind me of a smoker friend of mine, "I'm going to quit... soon."  He's been saying that shit for years.  I've never claimed to be Ronnie Coleman, but you clowns are in serious denial.   And before you start typing your rejoinder... take your shirt off and go look in the mirror.  If you dare.  :-[

I'm going to cure cancer... "in a few months."   ::)

Well, I think when people get "out of shape" there are a number of things that can account to this.  Marriage, having a child, break-up, new job, different hour job, loss of job, depression, meds, etc. etc.   I like reading up on high end yachts but never in my life will own one.

Believe it or not this board offers good advice and motivation sometimes.

For example look at tbombz.  They guy came on here as an overweight kid looking for guidance and now he's a beast.

When the going gets tough, DON'T look around for people to blame.

pointing the finger and the unwillingness to really look at yourself and face reality WILL make you bitter.

At this point, you'll begin to use food as a coping mechanism for all the stress "others" have inflicted upon you.

It's time to stand up tall and keep moving forward. It's not as easy as eating a dozen donuts and being mad at the world.

Get your shit together before you fall into oblivion and morph in a 300lb miserable cry baby.

I agree, but we all know how people are.  Some people will go the "other way" and start compulsive exercising-another problem that can spin out of control.  Sometimes it's an easy fix and other times it's more involved.

I'm kinda speaking from my own personal experiences.

I've suffered from binge eating disorder, followed by bulimia.

I'm finally pulling myself together, but it took me a long time to realise the root of the problem was my skewed interpretation of my environment. I was blaming others and feeling sorry for myself. This manifested itself in out of control binging and purging because my nerves and anxiety would temporarily disappear following a binge.

It took me a lot of soul searching and honest personal assessment to realise I was creating a lot of stress in my mind that really didn't exist in reality. It was "all in my head"

I'm glad you're doing good.  There are triggers that effect the problem, it could be a girlfriend/boyfriend, parents, etc. etc.  Much of the problems are parents that set unrealistic goals for their children and push them to hard.  The children realize this and can't cope so they control the one thing they can, food.  Once they get into this "rut" it is a very difficult hole to climb out of.  If you have done this by yourself without talking to someone, then much praise to you.  It is something that will always follow you though.

I know that life has a way of kicking you in the teeth, but you can always push away food.  With that said I wish him the best of luck, at the end of the day all that has to do is cut the calories to around 2,000 and mix in exercise

Good job swede, it's always that last 4 ounces that is the toughest  :)

The truth is, for the majority of humans, getting ripped and muscular is not an easy road. We aspire to be that guy, but life often tosses a detour in every now and again. For me, as I am right now, I should be happy. BUt.. some of us continue to try and improve and it is a never ending process. So while many will look at that person who says "I'll be awesome in 2 months" with contempt, I look at them as at least trying to attain what is obviously not an easy goal. The contempt I have is reserved for the 400 pounders loading up their shopping cart with Coke, ho ho's, Stouffers Lasagna and Tostito chips and ice cream, never attempting to improve their health and physique. I am constantly on a mission to improve. Part of the game is having that goal that is tough to attain, and aspiring to get there.

Maybe not everyone has your genetics?

It is not about genetics; it is about choice and consequence.  You consistently, make poor choices with your diet and fail to exercise then you end up looking like fatpanda.  Pointing to genetics is like MethylMike blaming his bad credit score on genetics.  No one is buying it.  One would think these fatpandas might be humbled by their girth, in a bodybuilding forum and in IRL, but they are as immodest and disparaging as anyone online.  Ah well, just knowing they have to live in their respective bodies, look in the mirror from time to time, and reap what they continue to sow is all I could wish for them.  ::)

I never understood (baring a serious illness or personal disaster) why someone would let themselves get that far out of shape.

This.  There's no reason to walk around looking like Mr. Fitness all the time, but to get so far out of shape (assuming he was ever in shape) means he has no discipline, is a poor decision maker, a schmoe, or all three.  :-[

Get your shit together before you fall into oblivion and morph in a 300lb miserable cry baby.

now that's a meltdown if ever there was.

"in a few months."   ::)

its only been 3 months  ::)

you are also fat - so really is it possible for you to be any more ignorant  ???

It is not about genetics; it is about choice and consequence.  You consistently, make poor choices with your diet and fail to exercise then you end up looking like fatpanda.  Pointing to genetics is like MethylMike blaming his bad credit score on genetics.  No one is buying it.  One would think these fatpandas might be humbled by their girth, in a bodybuilding forum and in IRL, but they are as immodest and disparaging as anyone online.  Ah well, just knowing they have to live in their respective bodies, look in the mirror from time to time, and reap what they continue to sow is all I could wish for them.  ::)

This.  There's no reason to walk around looking like Mr. Fitness all the time, but to get so far out of shape (assuming he was ever in shape) means he has no discipline, is a poor decision maker, a schmoe, or all three.  :-[

in a bodybuilding forum and IRL I would slap the gayness from your hamster cheeks.

you are not even a real man in my eyes.

it would be akin to slapping a woman.

lots of big talking queers on this site these days, like you and the 130lbs behemoth develsmile.

so by your irrational logic paedophiles don't have a choice either ? beastiality types etc ?

he is in their boat !

just to be clear, obesity was not a choice - eating was. obesity is a nasty side effect.

just as bays choice of cock leads to HIV as a nasty side effect - as you are probably more than familiar with yourself.

regardless bay seems to have developed a worrying hard on for me.  :-\

That should be a new contest for getbig....how far we can let ourselves go. True Bellybuilding at it's finest...I'll be the first one to throw my hat in the ring...although, a certain Panda is ahead of me in terms of gains, and ny genetics make me a hardgainer in the fat department, not that I'm using that as an excuse, but I can do it.

Apples and oranges.  A homosexual could still be a disciplined person and strive for achievement.  The Spartans were queer as the day is long.  Michelangelo got his butt stuffed all up & down the Medici palace.

I just find it sad when someone loses the will to try.  Fatties are always on about their slow metabolism etc, but I think the vast majority just can't find it within themselves to get going.  It's like they surrendered themselves to hopelessness for whatever reason.

Pretty much ALL obese people have psychological issues and that is one of the ways it manifests itself.

We all can't have the genetics and "look" of the Good Dr. , DR FIST.  The man's been to hell and back and yet he looks like a super heavyweight MMA fighter.  At 312 pounds and 11% bodyfat, not all of us can attain a phisque like DR. FIST.  He can smoke and drink but it seems the more he does, the more vicious and harder he becomes.  If you think you can live like DR. FIST and still perform and have a body like his...good luck.  Getbig will rue the day he gets a computer and logs in.  I talked to him Saturday and he is compiling the "Ultimate FIST LIST".  Enjoy the photos and go so far to print them out and post them in your gym, on your fridge or even on your bathroom mirror to provide inspiration for when you need it.

Long hours in the office,  no time to excercise is a big contributor. In order for me to get my excercise in I have to get up at 4:30, so lots of time I sleep in till 5:30.  Also for me, a lot of the time food is the only pleasure I have in my miserable day.  During the week eating is all I have to look forward to.........Not saying its not my fault,  but the stress of corporate america can f with your priorities............

For me though I think you just start lifting with rather inflated ideas about what was realistic and then finally after years you realise that you aren't going to be a huge muscular beast...sure, there is no reason for crazy obesity but not everyone can look like Coleman or Yates or take your pick...

You are alright Dr. Chimps!!!!!

Look up Charlie the Karate chimp.  He's a local and ran for mayor in 1982.  They put him in retirement because he was getting old and starting to get a little nasty.  Carmen is a great person who saves many primates from very stupid and bad people.  I remember him telling me how he saved a monkey that was a pet in a bar.  The monkey was soaked in beer and had cigarette burns all over him, disgusting.

If you're ever in the Cataract City I'll introduce you to him.
