no, it's doesn't reach ground water, it reaches the city municipal water that is recycled and 'cleaned' for drinking, yes, most people drink 100 of chemicals that can not be cleaned out.
that's why you should drink water from natural springs, where the water reaches ground level by it self, this is a 100's of years cycle and natural filtration
you can always at least some natural water to drink to help the body's natural elimination process of chemicals we all get anyway. it's not like the problem is to big to do anything about.

soybeans that produce their own insecticides are not safe for anyone. why not grow it conventionally? yes the profit my be a few percent less, it might take more employees to run, but it's not like Monsanto is on the marginals.

Genetically modified foods do not cause genetic mutations. This is one of the most absurd claims I have read from morons who fail at basic deductive logic and scientific empirical knowledge. Foods don't enter your cells, go to the DNA nucleus and change the arrangement of the four nucleic acids that compose DNA. That is what would be required for it to cause genetic mutations. Now, certain compounds found in foods, like meat that has been charcoaled, can cause DNA damage, but that results in cancer or celular apoptic death, but not in mutations. If you are concerned about DNA damage, you should be concerned about petrochemicals and not with foods. Breathing gasoline is much worse than eating genetically modified crops. Give me a break.......

if you were to feed a poor population Big Mac less people would get fed and survive than if you used the same area to grow corn and rice etc that you would use to produce live animals.

What? You mean they have modified soy to make insecticides? I am not aware of this, but just because something is toxic to an insect it doesen't mean it is toxic to mammals. But you are right. Some insecticides, like organophosphates, are toxic to both insects and mammals. But lots of plants already produce natural insectices anyway. For instance, tomatoes produce nicotine to kill insects that prey on it, and Humans eat tomatoes. The amount of nicotine is very small and kills the insects that feed on it, but is almost harmless to a Human. Coffee produces caffeine as a drug to paralize insects and caffeine has many psychotropic benefits to Humans. In the case of soy, though, you shouldn't be eating it anyway. Regular soy is already bad enough for you. But I agree with you that if they are modifying harmless plants to produce insecticides and those insecticides are proven to be bad for Humans, then you shouldn't eat it. But will it cause genetic mutations to the people eating them? No. Genetic engineering of plants can be very good. For instance, genetically engineered vines can produce hundreds of times more resvaratrol, which is highly antioxidant and beneficial to the cardiovascular system. Genetic engineering is not bad: what can be bad is what you do with it.

Very few Asians are obese. And they tend to accumulate fat in the buttocks and thigs unlike Weterners who accumulate in the waist. Sumo wrestlers are a very bad example because they force feed themselves to become that fat. They are not representatives of Asians.
