Pretty bold statement there coach. Duffee I can agree with, but the Reem is no pushover. Were you just looking for a reason to post that photo or are you serious?

No, I'm serious. I see him train here in HB at Kings MMA and he's had a few sessions with me and he's a beast. His confidence is waay high since he beat fedor.

Even the best get caught every so often.

*UPDATE: Todd Duffee pulled out of the proposed Dream Dynamite 2010 New Year’s Eve bout with Alistair Overeem this morning after receiving the contract and feeling the money was not right. He will now face a TUF 10 alum at Titan Fighting Championships on January 29th while Overeem will remain on the Dream NYE card with an opponent yet to be named.

I got my money on the Reem. Cool photos though, consider me jealous.

i just watched about 10 of overheems fights,
he appeared to up the dose in 2009,
and slowed a bit because of it, he just rushes in like a tank. and when he hits his opponent it seems to cause major damage.
he got tko by badr fella for being a bit slow.
but i like his style, and that he fights all comers, k1- or mma rules.
got to respect that he is exciting to watch, more so than watching 140lbs dudes in ufc laying on top of each other for 3 rounds.
k1 is much more entertaining to watch for me, as i found by watching his fights.

K-1 WORLD MAX is the most exciting sport I've ever seen.
Sometimes a fight can be so fast paced and technical it's like a videogame.

I sew that live on the stream, it was fucking epic. It was my first time watching K-1 live and it knocked my socks off. I love how the judges kept it rollin for another round too. The judges over there kick ass.

You are absolutely right Coach.
Werdum is no slouch, some people even assume that his win was some type of fluke.
Just in case people are not aware, Werdum has defeated the following men:
Fedor Emelianenko
Aleksander Emelianenko
Gabriel Gonzaga
Alistair Overeem
The man's a worldclass jujitsu fighter. Lets give him some credit.

He hasn't fought UBEREEM the world kick boxing champion, horsemeat eater extraordinaire. Werdum's got the most dangerous guard in the heavyweight division. If it can be avoided, he'll get dos santos'ed again.

Hahaha another body builder who thinks he a bad ass just cos he lifts weights ::)

I watched a UFC where Duffee ko'd his oppenent in like 12-15 seconds. I think he only threw one, perhaps two punches
Edit* - I just googled the fight, looks like the fight was only 7 seconds. It was the fastest KO in UFC history. Duffee's opponent was named Hague.
Duffee is quite lean for being over 250lbs

I just read up on the fight that Duffee lost (video above)
i guess Duffee dominated the fights 1st and 2nd round. He broke his opponents forearm with his fists in the first round (his opponent was trying to block duffee's punch)
i guess out of the blue, Duffee was KO'd during the final round
Note to Swede: i think the dude delivering the hammer fist realized Duffee was out, so he kinda pulled his punch mid-swing
-
Duffee got TKO'd by a guy with Tits and he beat a school teacher who has also been dropped by the UFC.

i saw Duffee KO a 270lb man in 7 seconds. So whether you think so or not, he is a threat. He has only lost once. All of the guys that lost to Duffee would easily beat your silly white ass! That is true.

This fight wont go beyond 2 minutes. I think there will be a early KO. I have no idea who will win. But I think this bout will be quick.
-
OH MY GOD I JUST CAME SOOO HARD!
Round 1
Duffee charges with big punches and Overeem ducks under them. Duffee tries to flurry in close, but Overeem moves his head just a tad to get out of the way. Then, Overeem laces Duffee with a big knee to the belly, followed by a crushing right and left hook. Duffee sits on his rear and falls asleep, slumping right out of the ring. Referee Moritaka Oshiro calls the bout immediately thereafter.
Your winner and new Dream interim heavyweight champion by way of knockout a mere 19 seconds into round one, Alistair Overeem.
I'll post video as soon as it's available to me

Duffe had no idea what was about to happen lol.
That knee to the body had to HURT. But if he got ko'ed from the last 2 shots after that my god his chin is weak for such a big dude especially.
Besides this being awesome to see, it doesnt really prove anything, wish sammy would have faced him instead
-
seems like it was the knee to the gut that got him or was it the punch after?
anyways Ubereem schooled him.
Fedor needs to put up or gtfo

Duffee is beyond a can. Why was this fight made?
they decied last min that he was OK to fight in Dynamite (because he didnt suffer any injuries in the k1 tournament) and its kinda hard to get an openonent so fast against Overeeem. But the recently UFC Fired duffe stept up apparently.
those type of fights is kinda a lose lose for overeem, He did won but duffe is no one... How do you know hes beyond a can though? how many times have you seen him fight? looked decent in most recent fight also, just weak ass chin.
-
Fedor should avoid Overeem at all costs....he would get destroyed......His management will not let this fight happen...Fedor doesn't want it to happen either...
-
Duffee is beyond a can. Why was this fight made?
Good for Overeem ,as a fighter you want to keep fighting even if it's against a can ., that's why I don't like the UFC , if you are not a champion you should be fighting at least 4-5 times a year.
-
LMAO

5 times a year is CRAZY in mma training. thats means 5 9-12 week camps before fights. with Hard sparring. thats asking to get injuried.
1-2 fights should however be forced.
And now all of a sudden Cain is injuried because of something he got in the Lesnar fight. And now JDS is pissed of because he wants to fight someone and lets see who dana gives him. I feel like ufc is pretty good at getting champs to fight if they're not injuried. Compared to for example strikeforce etc. how many min have we seen fedor fight since 2007? lol.

i think a high fight frequency is good, always better to keep active.
I just wondered why someone like Duffee was fighting a k-1 champion.
Oh and Swede if you fight frequently enough you don't need long protracted training camps all of the time, do you have any idea at how regularly the old school boxers used to fight.
-

there is a shitload if difference between training boxing 24/7 and mma. the risk for injury is at another level imo (Im assuming due to allt he groundwork and just a little thing goes wrong and something breaks/dislocated) just one takeone gone wrong and something cal break/dislocate and there goes your salery/bonus . So they need breaks after fights to heal up.
GSP for example trains 24/7 however, and is doing good. Some poeple never back of. but 5 mma fights in a year is kinda pushing it imo. 2 is good.
props to Duffe for taking it on such short notice (5 days or soemthing like that) but he had nothing to put against overreem at all.
-

Haha, you have not clue
So you're saying its easier to get hurt standing up just boxing without kicks and TD's compared to wrestling for hours each day?
I would say mma is waay higher risk getting injured during sparring. Prove me wrong though if you can.....

You would have to training with some real retards for them to be locking in subs. I grew up training judo and boxing, getting punched in the head consistently is a lot more damaging than grappling sparring. Remember this was back in the day when there used to be a shitload of infighting and fighting out of the clinch going on, so it was a lot more intense and they still had about 150 more fights than modern boxers.

have you seen how overreem spars? they go HARD, too hard.
And its just just subs, TD's etc, land the wrong after a TD way and something can easily happen..
No doudbt its Worse to take headshots though, but Im talkiing aboit injuries in the camp.. =)
Small injuries happends all the time but tearing quad, pulling any muscles hard, having something dislocate, breaking something, has to be alot "easier" to encounter during wrestling sparring no?
-

that answer proves alot?
You have no clue! see? that proved just as much.
Im willing to change my mind if Im wrong..
In one sport you stand Up without kicking, only "punches" and clinch
In the other sport you stand up,clinc, kick while standing,Take downs,wrestling,subs....
so... higher risk should be for mma during training no?
-

You have no clue! see? that proved just as much.
Im willing to change my mind if Im wrong..
In one thing you can get hurt standing up.. in the other standing up And on the ground and on the way to the ground how can Only standing up be worse injury wise? =)
I've been around fighters (MMA, boxers....etc ) my whole life I don't have to prove nothing to you , you are just a mindless UFC guy :-*
-

I was asking for an explination after putting up a argument and thats your response? not even claiming I was 100% even claiming I would be open to changing my mind if you could show me that I was wrong.. Good man you are.

Because it's sparring and you are not going 100%. The differences are not so pronounced that mma guys should only fight two times a year lol.
You very rarely get muscle injury's with experienced grapplers, your body adapts. You are not locking in subs, so that's that out of the window. So it's just reduced to a stand up component basically.
Not forgetting the fact that guys like Dempsey, Johnson et cetera used to train grappling as well, as fighting out of the clinch and roughhouse tactics were a lot more prevelant back then.
Fighters from all combat sports should fight a lot more often. All of this 3 plus month training camp routine is a modern thing.
The guys used to fight so often that they didn't need training camps.
-
nice. seems like a good oponent for Alistair
never mind ;D
LMFAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
You very rarely get muscle injury's with experienced grapplers, your body adapts. You are not locking in subs, so that's that out of the window. So it's just reduced to a stand up component basically.
hmm. I would say not even close to the truth. The people I have heard getting injuried in mma training, is Always druing a TD or some sort of transition when something pops. Wrestling sparring. And not going 100% ofc.
-
Because it's sparring and you are not going 100%. The differences are not so pronounced that mma guys should only fight two times a year lol.

He has not clue about the difference between sparring/training and a real fight.

Why would you claim such stupid things? are you mentally all there? too much boxing?
I have explained to you where I have seen / heard of most injuries taking place. And its NOT when going 100% its simple easy everyuday Td's and transitions when you do something wrong too fast.
Stop putting words in my mouth.
But as I mentioned 500 times. thats all getbiggers do it seems like, Make up something the other person said and responding to it making yourself seem right.. over and over again.

Ok, in all my years training in Judo people getting injured was very sporadic. I actually still train judo to compliment my fitness in boxing, i don't percive it as tough on the body. You can speculate all you want Swede, but that's all it is on your part, speculation.

thats why Im open to being proved wrong.. Just more places where the sparring takes place = higher risk of injury.. makes sense in my mind.

Sparring is sparring. The intensity is lower and the fact that you are not locking in subs properly really lessens the complications of grappling.
As i said the old school fighters used to train shoot wrestling and had a heavy focus on clinch fighting and they used to fight very frequently.
As i also said before, the more you fight the less you train. You don't have three month training camps if you are fighting with any sort of regularity.
-
So you're saying its easier to get hurt standing up just boxing without kicks and TD's compared to wrestling for hours each day?
I would say mma is waay higher risk getting injured during sparring. Prove me wrong though if you can.....
saids the fella,,who claimed brock was GOD among boys in the octagon all oiled up touching each other,,, :D

I'm not exactly sure what you mean. Was it Judo or Boxing that you think is harder on your body? In my experience, during training, the stand up game, punching and kicking, was the safest. I rarely got hurt doing stand up. But that's only because it's training and you pull your punches and kicks. Grappling/rolling was the second safest because with a submission you can take as little or as much punishment as you want. But Swede is right, at least in my case, that it's during the transitions where you run a greater risk for injury. Things get twisted, tweaked and popped. But for me the most dangerous was the take downs. When you are being thrown. It's hard to throw someone to the ground softly or shoot gently during the dynamics of the session. Judo to me was the worse because a lot of those throws really sends you up in the air. With wrestling you're always staying pretty low and getting toss over your opponent's hip isn't as common as with Judo. Of course, some people fall better than others.

I elaborated a little more in subsequent posts. Learning how to fall is a huge part of Judo. You are right Judo is very explosive, sport judo has that emphasis anyway, Wrestling gets very control orientated and the centre is lower. I don't think any of it is too debilitating on your body in a recreational enviroment in terms of injury, provided everybody knows what they are doing. Although striking does have more potentiality, the ammount of sparring that i have seen get very serious standing is very high compared to grappling. A lot of the old school gyms are renowned for the sparring being more intense than the fights lol.
Any which way if you fight more frequently you train less frequently. Long protracted training camps are a modern phenomenon. Swede saying that the guys should fight about twice a year because of the vigors of training is pretty god damn stupid, but hey it's Swede afterall. :)
Btw Pellius i was reading your posts in the protein thread i think, you are a really good poster, you have my respect old man. ;)

dude your skin looks like wrinkled up elephants testicals, and you have 15 inch arms. also you cannot fight nor do you know how to train, thus the massive guns you have. happy new year bud

Biggest shit talking pussy on the board. Always trying to be a bad ass picking fights. You got owned by Salvatore. You got owned by Disturbia. You couldn't keep up with me for ten minutes in a typical training session and I'd beat your sorry ass in a minute. Besides, you posted a pic where it was obvious that you had stuffed a fake cock in your thong. What kind of pathetic son of a bitch does that?
Let me know when you want to take a vacation in Hawaii, fag. I'll show you what locals do to shit talking Haoles.

Learning how to fall is right. Judo guys do it all day. This was just my personal experience. I've talked about this before with others and it does vary widely. Depends what you're most comfortable with. I never liked wearing the gi. In competition I was always taller than my opponent and invariably he could always throw me if I played that game. Eventually, I became one of those guard pulling pussies. Eventually, I stop gi training and competing all together. That limits a lot of the throws. Also, I got much better at take downs because I didn't get so frustrated getting tied up with the gi.

don't bother with this guy. He gets owned every time he tries to start shit. defnitely a closet pole smoker. the shit talking is to compensate for being a submissive bottom in real life. likes to be on all fours and take it up the pooper from black gangsters.

I just dont see the fuss here, ive got much more into mma in the last few months seen a lot of fights and this guys good but not special. And his sneer makes me wanna shoot him

oh man...so you've gotten into mma in the last few months huh...and now your an authority i suppose...you are aware Overeem has been fighting for 12 years right...and is only 30 years old...the average fighter don't even hit there prime till after 30...so he has age and experience advantage over nearly everyone...factor in the size advantage and the fact that although he is an elite K-1 striker he has more wins by submission(19)than KO(14)also means he's very well rounded...But yea u have gotten into MMA more the last few months so you don't see what the fuss is...ha ha shit is laughable to say the least...

Really didn't understand a word either of them said but that Reem is a monster. I don't really follow Strike Force, K1 or Dream that closely but other than Fedor is there any credible opponents left for this guy to fight?
-

Josh Barnett, Werdum, Andre Arlovski, Antonio Silva, Sergei Kharitonov, Aleks Emelianenko would all be good fights.
He is claiming Arlovski and Fedor's management are ducking him. He's been publicly challenging Fedor since '09. At last years NYE show he was suppose to fight former UFC Champion Tim Sylvia but Syliva back out at the last minute.

Those Americans who entered the beaches on D-day in June '44, were Heroes. The majority of Americans today are obese and barely able to tie their damn shoelaces without getting out of breath. HTH. :)

Other than Werdum, I don't think any of those guys would boost Reem's rep. UFC rejects and nobodys. I mean Fedor's brother?
