I have the same phone. Download the Advanced Task Killer from the Market. More than likely there are applications that are not closing all the way and eating away at the resources. Flaw of Android.

Stick it down your pants and do some jumping jacks

Poor Groink, trying to text pics of his junk to random chicks and now this happens..... :-\
-
Groink do you make a habit of using the Task Killer you already have on the phone?
jesubod, does the ATK kill the tasks automatically?
-
First; Samsung? LOL dude.
Second; have you heard about reboot? Shut the machine down once in awhile. Then fire it up again.
Third; control the amount of applications running at the same time. Control the processes running. Keep on eye that memory is not running out.

It works that way on my phone. I also had the Backflip before this one and it worked perfectly with ATK.

Lol, you clearly don't know much about the galaxy s line. root your phone groink.

Thanks!
-
Groink,
Do a battery pull. In fact, do that once a week.
As far as Advanced Task Killer, use at your own risk. There arguments out there that the short term benefit of it will harm your phone down the line.
-
Call me bro!!!!!!
;D
-
Perhaps you downloaded a rogue app?
I would just do a factory reset, or system restore. That should solve all the problems you are having.
Then i would download only apps one at a time, and make sure that they work well before installing another...
Root the phone like someone else said...
-
Task killers are only good for phones running older android operating systems. 1.5, 1.6...They provide very little value to phones running 2.2(froyo)...

Well, killing tasks always speeds up the phone. No matter what the OS version.
-
Well, killing tasks always speeds up the phone. No matter what the OS version.
True..However, they use system resources and lot's of battery life themselves...
-
Not really much I can add that hasn't already been said - I've got an HTC android phone and I get the screen lagging sometimes. Just run Advanced Task Killer and then power the phone down, remove the battery, and reinsert it. Then run Advanced Task Killer again which gets rid of everything. The reason is that there's too many apps running in the backbround slowing the memory down on the phone. That solves my phone problems all the time.
-
next time dont be a cheap ass and buy an iphone. lagging screen, battery pull?? dont even know what yer all talking about

Shit, didn't read that bit lol!
I've been doing it to my phone for about six months now - fingers crossed it's still working fine...

I don't know a single "man" who owns a Blackberry.

Have you looked around an Android forum ? ... I saw this and it says that running ATK kills the battery quicker and there was other advices from people who have the Androids ..they seem a little complicated ???
http://androidforums.com/samsung-captivate/174053-i-love-my-task-killer-necessary-my-captivate.html#post1568959
there's a developers blog they mention aswell that may have helpful tips

Lol, you clearly don't know much about the galaxy s line. root your phone groink.
You arent worried about bricking it?
-
You arent worried about bricking it?
I wouldn't advocate that someone who is a regular user to do it, but if you brick it and have insurance, just hit it with a brick and get another....
-
You arent worried about bricking it?
There are one click root guide for most popular phones..
-
You arent worried about bricking it?
Rooting on these phones is so easy. I've got a custom 2.2 rom on my vibrant and its awesome.
-
goddamn, look at all this nerdy talk, Im so glad I bought a phone that doesnt require a geek user.
-

I have the Epic....and read about rooting because I HATE that welcome screen with the "Sprint 4G" and sound effect....talk about waste of time....
-
I now have a Droid X rooted and an Iphone....Iphone beats it. I'm just desperately waiting for the miui rom for Droid X.
I might watch some netflix instant on my Iphone tonight at the gym...what does Android have now; a queue manager and that's it?

If he is on AT&T, he won't be able to install any APPS that are not approved by AT&T unless he has a "side loader" program. Hope this helps.

I don't know a single "man" who owns a Blackberry.
Blackberries are for N88gers and low white trash.. Just saying.
-
gayer than using a phone for things other than talking.

I don't know a single "man" who owns a Blackberry.
Then you should get some heterosexual friends or at least semi-successful friends, twink metrosexual's and their iphone's need not apply.

i can help groink.
what you have is pretty standard lag that appears on all galaxy s phones due to the dodgy .rfs file system.
thankfully for you the geeks on xda have developed a fix.
the change the phone to use the ext2 file system instead.
its a .apk file.
Copy over the APK file onto your phone, and run/install it as normal using 'My Files'. There will be a 'One Click Lag Fix' app installed. Run that, and select the option you want!
then do not use or touch ur phone till it finishes 10 mins later at least.
i put it on megaupload for you.

not true. Blackberry is dying a slow death.
i when to a meeting today, before and during break i checked out everyones smartphones. 60% of the people there had evo 4Gs, there was 1 blackberry, 1 google phone, and the rest were iphones. Not a fan of android the UI and browser are too clucky. But a lot of people there dig the evo 4g.

yeah, 1 level above Symbian^3, 1 level below windows 7, 10 levels below ios.

personally i would hold off for now.
today at the ces conference a whole load of new superphones were announced.
1. samsung infuse - highlights include - 4.5" super amoled plus screen, 1.2ghz hummingbird processor. slim design
(http://pocketnow.com/html/portal/news/0000014143//samsung-infuse-4g-ofc.jpg)
2. motorola atrix/bionic - highlights include - 4.3" quarter hd resolution screen (540 x 960), dual core tegra 2 processor, 1gb ram, 4g network, 1930ma battery, fingerprint reader, slim design
(http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2011/01/motorola-droid-bionic-01-05-2011.jpg)
3. lg optimus x2 - highlights include - dual core tegra 2 processor, slim design.
4. playstation phone - highlights include playstation controller, and playstaion app ( although i would bet every penny i have that someone will rip it from the software and port it to the other android phones within weeks of its release.)
out of them the motorola stands out from the rest as the most powerful phone, but samsung still have another phone to announce (perhaps tomorrow) - the galaxy s2, which may feature the dual core orion processor said to be 4x as powerful as the tegra :o and it will feature a super amoled plus screen too.
definately wait.
-
I'm waiting for a cell phone to come out that can suck my cock and lick my balls.

Dude these phones are WAYYYY too big, who the hell wants to carry around a brick again, it's like going back to the first (blue) blackberries around 2003, these phones are almost the size of samsung's wannabe ipad tablet, I'm sure the processing power is cool but they just look uncomfortable as hell to use.
Also what in the bloody fuck would you need a dual core processor for on a phone ?!?!! who runs photoshop on their phone!? lol it's just becoming silly, 99% of people use phones to talk/sms/bbm not to run multi threaded tier 1 type apps.

won't work....android OS blocks it.
Actually a simple battery pull remedied the situation. but thanks dude
And yes the Galaxy is a killer phone....my buddy has an Iphone 4 and it isn't as good as mine, which he admits...they are also gay
I'm really not a phone guy though so I really can't say which is "better" the only reason I got this phone is because I was up for a renew and I know the manager at the ATT store. So between his discount and the renew I paid less than a hundred for a six hundred dollar phone...or I wouldn't be rocking this thing

the lag will keep happening until you install that root fix unfortunately.
however once you do it will fly like this:

That's not even overclocked....
My phone is running at 1.2GHZ without breaking a sweat. However, that thing looks like it's running a lot faster...
When a ginerbread (android 2.2) rom comes out..Hopefully, i get that type of speed, that the nexus has.

yes the lag fix really makes it fly - the over clock + lag fix makes it take off :o
once the nexus s roms are hacked properly it will really be unstoppable.

for me i want to watch movies on my phone without going cross eyed, and not run out of battery after 1 movie.
i also want to stream that movie to my tv over the air.
i want to listen to music for a week straight ( which the dual core tegra phones will do)
i want to play snes, nes, gen, psx, n64 emulators using a ps3 controller and hooked up to my tv.
i want to surf the web, listen to music, download a torrent, check emails, at the same time.
i want to record and watch hd movies on my phone that is not choppy.
is that enough ? ;D

So you want to use your phone for nothing it was designed for and for what something like a ps3 would make more sense for...!? I guess I can understand somewhat since you guys in Europe mostly use public transportation and trains as opposed to in N.America where everybody drives.

iPhone is great for talking on the phone (do people still do this?) and dicking around. If you're going to be doing actual work then probably a BB.

All I can say is you're a demanding dude.. I just upgraded one of my phones (I use 2) to the new blackberry flip (style) I love it, it's tiny, light, fits in any pocket and has a huge screen and full size qwerty keyboard (I text a lot) my other phone is an iphone, love both of them for different reasons, if I didn't own every other possible toy/gadget like psp, ds lite, 2 ipad's and about 5 ipod's , not to mention hacked ps3 and 2 hacked xbox 360's then I could see your point, but I got more then enough gear to occupy my time, I have about 400 books on the ipad's alone not to mention about 30 movies and netflix.

:o quite a collection.
i have an iphone, its great for being a phone, txing, and internet surfing. but to damn restricted.
ideally i'd like to get 1 super phone that does it all. less clutter and as mobile as can be.
i have high hopes for the new meego operating system ( that pic above might be the phone that it runs on) as its a full linux operating system, not just a mobile operating system. although it sounds like it is going to be a huge fail by all accounts, with the first few phones they run on having a shitty processor, small screen, low memory, software buggy, etc according to rumours. if they are true i don't see how it can compete with the dual core superphones mentioned above.
the new nokia e7 design looks nice too.
i've personally never used a blackberry, but everyone i know that has one loves them.

Symbian^3 sucks man. Too bad, the N8 is a beautiful phone tho.
the ps store is going to be available on android>1.6 and iphone >4.x. no gamepad tho.

This looks pretty cool, I like the horizontal keyboard/flip design
Blackberry headquarters is about 40 minutes from where I live so naturally everyone around here uses one, they got huge with email/enterprise servers/push email technology, although now pretty much all phones incorporate live email and etc.

I just upgraded to the Bold 9700 and really fucking love it!!! BBM is so sweet too! Screen resolution is nice and crisp, and battery life is AMAZING!!!! You can easily watch 2 full length movies on it and still have well over 50% of your battery left!
