Title: National Championships Tonight
Post by: Coach is Back! on January 10, 2011, 08:14:54 AM
Who's your pick?

The National Title is decided every year in the SEC championship, my friend......    ;D

Seriously, I think it's a toss up.  Oregon can put up some points in a hurry, but Newton is a wild card.  If push came to shove, I'd pick Auburn.

The mind games have already begun. Pay attention to the officials tonight is what I heard on radio this am.

If oregon goes no huddle mode and substitutes players on the fly the refs will allow auburn to run their subs in...if oregon goes no huddle no subs, refs will allow oregon to control their snap pace, so if auburn still tries to sub, they better do it fast.

this is what I heard from espn radio this am.

I'd bet on Auburn's cheating ass but I'll be pulling for Oregon.

Oregon has an average of 50+ points a game this year.... no way Auburn can keep up with that

Right and i realize that the Patriots are in the AFC and nobody in the NFC can beat them  ::)

I don't buy into any of this conference Bullshit.... all there schools are elite teams and will compete right up against each other

Not so fast my friend......why then has the SEC DOMINATED the BCS Championship?  4 out of the last 5, I do believe.

I hope you're right but I am afraid the SEC will win its 5th NC in a row.

they have OWNED the BCS.  Even Tenn got in on it back in the day.  LSU, UF, Alabama.....  Does any other conf even have two winners?

^^^ this!

It's going to be close IMO, Oregon's no huddle is absolutely sick and having Auburn trying to keep up with that speed and conditioning might be their downfall. If I recall Oregon's line averages something like 231lbs as opposed to Auburn's at around 270-280.

No problem cheering for the "home" team, as it should be.  Oregon was VERY impressive in the games I watched, but you just always wonder how only being tested a couple of times a year effects a team.  Auburn was in some wars all season long.  It's a good match-up IMO.

TCU should play the winner of this game >:(

and remember auburn got jobbed in 03 or 04(???) they ran the table and should have been playing for title vs USC but they let 1 loss OU in there and pulled the old "sec champ playing in sugar bowl this year" crap. since the nat. title was in rose bowl or orange that year..not sure but I know this messed up.

Yep....they got screwed royally.  Until we get a play-off, it always a possibility for someone to get left out that deserves it.  Greedy AD's and conferences are killing it.

This reminds me of the Texas-USC National Championship game.  Cam Newton/Vince Young and Oregon offense/USC offense.  Unlike that outcome though, I think Oregon will score too many points for Auburn.

HAha I don't think "Nails" realized the diff in playing SEC football each week and the likes of UCLA and WaZZu

over the past 12 years (1998 - 2009), the Pac-10 actually leads the SEC 11-9 (.550).

But in BCS championships, now that USC's title was taken away......Pac 10 = ZERO   SEC = SIX..... greatness is made up of championships, not whether 3-5 Wash St beat 2-6 Vandy....  ;D

Here is my take:

AU Defense gives up  a LOT of points and yards- BUT they have a very good pash rush and are able to create turnovers, which lead to quick scores by Scam Newton. They have done this game in and game out against TOP SEC opponents.

AU has put up points on the best the SEC has to offer and have proven they can come from behind double digit deficits.

Oregon is VERY focused 10pm cerfew and AU had NO cerfew.

I HATE AU with a passion and as much as I would love to see Oregon beat them I just dont think the Oregon D can stop AU, but they don't need to- they only need to slow them down. Sometimes though funny things can happen with a 37 day lay off and teams can change.

My experience and knowledge says take AU by 10. But my wild card instinct says a diff story:

Oregon 45
AU 44

go ducks.. i'm tired of cam newton and his arrogance and chicknshit smirk all the time.. he's like the black john gotti who thinks he's invisible.. I'm from south louisiana and AU came down here to a school that's always been a LSU pipeline and paid off one recruit each of the last two years to go there. NCAA is one of the most corrupt organiztions out there and treat their monopoly like they are slaveowners.. AU will get caught w/ all their dirty poker and pay for play bullshit one day.. i'm an lsu grad and big time SEC fan but muther frick AU, go ducks

The Big 12 is tied with the SEC for most appearances in the game (7; four by Oklahoma, two by Texas, and Nebraska got in in 2001 even though they were shitty) but they are 2-5 compared to the SEC's 6-0.

SEC: 7 apps, 6-0
Big 12: 7 apps, 2-5
ACC: 4 apps, 1-3
Big 10: 3 apps, 1-2
Pac 10: 3 apps, 1-1
Big East: 2 apps, 1-1

They should make a rule that championship games can't end on a field goal.  So anti-climactic (like me having sex).
