I think Dennis is 24 or 25 in that pic. It not for being sidelined by illness; I think he wouldve have a career similar to Levrone. A consistent top 5 olympia threat, and always a potential winner of the ASC

He was younger than Flex and Levrone. He had very good balance. He, like them, wouldve been top of the food chain.

... But Yates would still be tip top

Well, there is Newman, Shawn Ray, young Flex, Chris Cormier, francois, Richard Jones, JOJ, a rookie Phil Heath, young Ronnie, Alq Gurley (who was a model), Darrem Charles, and Mike O'Hearn (no he is not a pro)

Dennis Newman now has a face that looks, "dorky", his genetics don't weather well.

Whoever greenlighted Dennis' Flex Magazine photoshoot n which he he had a thong jacked up so far hs that even Ronnie Coleman would say "Damn!", truly plays for BayGBM's team---undercover

Too bad about the cancer

I remember looking pics of Newman back in MD in 1995 and thinking that this is how Mr.Olympia should look like. Newman had tons of aestehtics and had very good mass too, but his physique is a little lacking in terms of balance and his structure is not perfect.

Anyone know what he is up to now?

No, the colonoscopy ruined both their lives. Francois was truly a monter. That guy I think was the first or second besides Jean-Pierre Fux to be ripped at 285 lbs at a height under 6'.

Francois was never ripped at 285, he was his best at 245-255, when he won the 1995 Arnold over Flex. When Flex won the 1997 Arnold at 224, Francois was still gettig bigger at around 260ish, he had a monster wide back with far better detail than Cutler could dream of.

In 1998, there were some impressive pics of Francois 6 weeks out from the 98 ASC. He was huge and ripped. He clearly was trying to wipe out Nasser and Flex to regain his title. But the next thing everyone hears is 1) he wont be competing at the Arnold 2) he nearly died and his career is over.

Just like that. Done.

Wrong. There was a training pictorial of Francois back in FLEX in 1996 where Francois was 290 lbs with a visible christmas-tree. He competed at 250 lbs because he went for lines and conditioning, which IMO was a mistake: he lost fullness and gained little in terms of added definition and density. Francois should have competed around 270 lbs.

Wrong again, post the pic of him at 290 with visible X-mas tree, and Francois didn't compete at 250 due to lines, because he was a blocky mofo, even Lee Haney said this when Francois won the 1995 Arnold. Haney said that Flex should have won because his lines, and that Francois was too blocky.

I remember a training article on Francois where he was talking about his PLing background, and the famous leg press pic. There is a black and white pic of him doing a lat spread, but no where does it say he was 290. I think you came up with that weight.

Francois added weight little by little, since he won the 94 NOC, the 90s was about quality and conditioning, him at 270 would have looked terrible, due to his blockiness. And he was already being surpassed by Flex (224) and Ronnie.

Haney never said he was to blocky , said he was to ' lumpy ' and the last thing Francios was , was blocky he had a great taper

It was blocky or lumpy, I remember the quote. Flex had Haney's face, and a pic of Flex and Francois in a FDB pose, Flex had the shape, but I think Francois was drier and harder---it could have gone either way. Francois at that time is light yrs ahead of Jay Cutler now...but, had Francois gone into seminary---would he have gotten sick?

It was the FDB, it was pictured in Hard Times, and it shows both Flex and Francois together, in a staggered way---due to the angle of the shot.

Im gonna have to go look thru all my old Mags..there is a pic of him and her together, I think he is wearing a bandana over his head, due to loss of hair. They are sitting on a park bench, she is in a "wrap" type dark color--reddish shirt, she is a brunette, pretty face, nice body, abd I think that there is a dog on a leash in the pic as well. It was, again, in Flex mag's Hard Times column.

He could lose a little bodyfat and all, but at his age... fantastic.

Mike Francois was the shit, and unlike Dennis, Mike actually won some Pro contests---won over Flex in 1995, even though Flex was coming off of a broken neck, if Jay Cutler's 2009 was put in that lineup, he would have lost as well.

If he is, he's a bigger pussy than I originally thought or he's on the wrong stuff or both.  Why would he risk putting that shit into his body after what he's been through.  Oh...WAIT!

A)  Trophy Time.

B)  Too stupid to do anything else.

C)  Retarded.

D)  All of the above

I don't wish him ill,  but if he is indeed taking dope, then I don't wish him well.  He would be doing it to himself.  Again

Those pics show him as VERY obviously enhanced.

He went back on steroids, GH and insulin almost immediately once he went into remission. All by his own admission. How long has it been since, a decade and a half? No one ever trains natural once they've been on drugs. Plus the impression I get is that he's a serious rec drug junkie too. All very typical in this cult.

So it is option "D" then. ;D ;)  Thanks for the update/info, I appreciate it.  I suppose if Dennis can't live the dream, then he can at least have a wet one.   What a loser.

Now, Deniis kinda loacked a chest---his arms and delts over powered his chest...far more than Phil Heath's.

dennis was great no doubt. But would we really be thought of the same if it werent for movie star looks? Long torso, short legs, shity chest, and no back. Hardly the best genetics to grace the sport.

Had he competed, these would have been his downfall---but he would have been Weider and the industry's darling.
But, he could have fixed the chest and back, he had a crispness to his body. You didn't earn your pro card back then if you could not produce.

could he of fixed it? He was groomed from a young age so I imagine he was on extremely high doses of stuff from the ages of 20-25....so he adds insulin and boom the classical lines go out the window

I remember Van B saying Dennis did use insulin but wasnt sure if Van meant during his comeback or at the peak of his career

If he took the Shawn Ray route or like many of the 90s guys, improve little by little. Look at Levrone, Chris Cormier, Ray, Charles C., Francois, Dorian, all improved and tweeked their physiques,  we could see his flaws now---bur he seemed to flow together...by the time he stepped onstage against the "Realness" he'd realized his flaws, like Francois and we'd have seen a gradual improvement.
Remember, Titus stopped training his chest after her tore a pec...and had a lengthy, but mediocre career, with a shitty chest. A longer career than Phil Hernon who had a a better physique.
