The sexiest car for 2012 by far. I REALLY want to get the CLS550 but it's alittle too steep. I was looking at the old E63AMG (469hp/~500lb ft) but it not being 4MATIC fucks it up since i'm in NY. I also love the updated E class. I don't like the interior of the previous E-Class. Also the CLS is a 4 seater which is a little bit of a bummer.

You are not going to find a AWD (4matic) AMG model unless it's the SUVs, just like the M models...which I would prefer the X5 M/X6 M over the AMG's SUVs.
My mother has a E350 with AMG sport kit, all the power she needs, and it looks sinister as well. I had her lok at a CLS a few yrs back and she didn't like it all that much---she has a thing about "colors".
Talked my brother into looking at the new C class coupe, and a C350.
Much to my chagrin, a guy I had met who was a staunch Audi man, stopped by and told me that thanks to me giving him the heads up on the BMW 1M, he had put down a deposit about a month or so ago--there will be a very limited number.
The only thing I find fault with the new CLS is that the rear seems over stylized and the rear lights seem odd, and that the square exhuasts seem to not match up with the rear lights, the Bentley Continental GT shows how to do it the right way. The front end, shows the adaptation of the LEDs, continuing the trend that Audi started, but it seems Audi has a more tasteful application of then. The whole front end of the CLS63 is very aggressive, and I'm overall very pleased with the design.
Inside, it looks very "teutonic" yet business like, possibly a lighter color of leather and interior trim may warm it up a bit. I really like the AMG wheels.

Ive never been a fan of it, until I saw one when I was with my brother to test drive a S5. I really know very little about them. As they occupy that lux small coupe/roadster segment that has the Audi TT, BMW Z4, Merc SLK, and the Boxster/Cayman. Your run of the mill Audi TT I believe has Golf running gear, so look for the reliability of that. The interiors are Audi's strong suit, and they wear well with age. The rear seats are a joke, so think of it as a 2 seater. As with any Turbo car, there will be issues with longevity of the turbos and engine...TT RS a beast with the turbo 5 cylinder, look actually for a future model that resembles the old Audi Quattro Coupe, it will use the same engine---sporty looks and has real back seats, I think this maybe more up your alley, because you can actually use this car, and justify to your wife, whereas with the TT, it will end up being sold once the "emotional" factor wears off.

Dude we all like the AMG models but with the CLS you're looking at over 100 Grand. If i want to fantasize i play GT5. The '06-09 CLS is a realistic deal, i actually like the shape of the 1st gen CLS over the later iterations. And does the CLS use the S-Class as a body type? In other words, is it just a re-worked S-Class? Or is it running on the E platform?

I agree...The CLS is running the E class chassis. Look at it like this. S Class/CL (or the S class coupe=same chassis, E Class/ E Class Coupe/CLS=same chassis, C Class/C Class coupe=same chassis.
Now, I don't know where the SLK, SL, or the SLS sit, but my guess is that the SLS has a chassis of it's own, as it was developed with sharing the chassis with the Viper, the SL possibly is a shortened S class chassis, and the SLK is possibly a shortened C class chassis.
Another alternative is the BMW Gran Coupe, which will be BMW's answer to the CLS

This car will also have a M derived model as well.
But if a used 2006-and up CLS is your speed, look for possible engine issues, and suspension as well, but overall, I think you will be happy with it,

More on the BMW Gran Coupe, now constrast this with the CLS

parker what are your thoughts on the audi tt in general....in regards to upkeep reliability and looks........
I love the experience of driving an Audi, but their reliability is pretty poor. The ideal situation is to lease it for 2-3 years with a car allowance and write off the cost as a business expense. Buying an Audi will likely mean big repair bills down the line… and that is fine if you can afford it. If not, stay away. My next car: an Audi Q5.
The TT is a stylish bug and it rides/drives great!

If that is the car, stay the hell away from it! It has aftermarket stuff done to it, the wheels look tacky and small, the chrome they put on it is tacky and the Lambo doors that they put on it screams "poser", and then there are the underbody lights. Chances are this car will have engine issues as well. Look for a CPO with lower mileage and less aftermarket "addenda".
Even a private seller---typically someone who is older, as it will be in better shape.
For instance, I know of a young woman who has a thing for older Mercedes, she just bought a 1988 Coupe (the E class coupe I believe), it had only 65k miles on it! It was owned by a older couple, and looks brand new, no wear and tear on the interior and runs like brand new. Doors slam like a bank vault.
Also, scope out Audi forums for issues on the TT And for the yrs in which she is looking for. Take a look at reoccuring issues and complaints.

Also, Bay is you have a business, there is way you can get that Q5 for your business.

The CLS is not a small car, if NBA and NFL stars can fit in them, then surely you can.

The high-end Mercedes have legendary depreciation, wait three years and buy this CLS63 with 25K miles for less than 1/2 whatever the first owner paid for it. Lots of deals show up where you can buy a <20K mile 2006 S65 that someone paid $160K+ for $50K-$60K.

Kinda like the Bangle 7 series BMW, you can pick up a low mileage one for 30k now...

that mofo is Serious...although, I really think that Porsche should do a Panamera coupe---this would go against the 599 and it's replacement, the Aston Martin DB9 and it's replacement
Due to Porsche being part of the VW group, will they hemm Porsche up, so that the Lambo is the top gun? Even though Porsche is head of all sports car development within the VW group...
