what's your toughts on this bitches ?
it's either I try that, or I won't do cardio at all.
I did the low intensity 30 minnute to 1h before... fucking boring makes me want to kill myself and I work 60h a week so I have no time for that bullshit
speak on this fellas, I know Johnny the ripped tiny guy does it ?
-
well.. I can talk behalf jnn about this subject atleast, and HIT works... it just does.
Killing your self with lets say 7 150m sprints after jogging 5 miles gives you a crispy looking abs. Jogging before sprinting to get you warmed up, it's pain in the ass to sprint out of cold.
I haven't done cardio in ages once again because the whole "cardio" thing is boring in my oppinion, but it works.
-
Tabata protocol................ ..8 minutes of toture, but it works.
-
You're burning 200-300 calories per ejaculation.

HIT is the real deal
I think what is stopping alot of people from trying it is that they are so attached to the traditional way they do cardio and are afraid to try something different
In all honesty though if you are getting great results doing long duration, low/medium intensity cardio then stick with it. However, don't be afraid to try short duration, high intensity cardio either

LOL... now I remember why I can't save the cardio state of mind :P
yeah it's cool when you watch a war movie or something like "Centurion".... you get pumped to go run outside, but after one week it gets so FUCKED up...

Muscle loss guaranteed!
-
Muscle loss guaranteed!
How is it guaranteed? On other boards people were saying that low intensity/long duration will guarantee muscle loss, and that HIT is better?
I'm gonna try both over time and see what works for me.
-
Muscle loss guaranteed!
I always hear that but is it bro science ?
-
Sprints are most definitely the way to go. As someone else said 6 150m sprints will kick your ass if you have never done them. Try that a few days a week and the other 2 days just jog for 20 minutes or however much time you have.
-
Wind sprints with a parachute against the wind.
-
I always hear that but is it bro science ?
It's probably just bro-science.
But often there is some seed of truth in bro-science also. I've always been too afraid of muscle loss to even try high intensity cardio LOL ;D
But isn't interval cardio the shit these days?
-
ll forms of cardio work
if your afraid of losing muscle
up the fucking dose
-

it is already pretty fucking high bro, I should not lose muscle :D
-
Its great for improving your cardiovascular conditioning and workload capacity. Fat loss is more of a nutrition thing in my opinion.
-
the best and less boring thing i was doing is to do low intensity/medium intensity/high intensity all in the same cardio session.. typically you start with the LI then the MI then the HI,.. you can make it 10 minutes each or 3 minutes each (to be repeated 3 times then to end the session with 3 LI minutes)!!.. make it different every time
sure HI cardio all the session is the most effective as you burn more calories but it's very exhausting and you may hate it after a wile..
-
Its not essential for a diet....just think it as a tool to shed the last bf off....i say use the HIT last few weeks and cut it slowly beginning 4 weeks out.
2 last weeks NO CARDIO...maybe even 3.
-

You shouldn't break-up with your girlfriend to do a show.....
-
Ain`t sprinting and all that bad for your heart?
-

LMAO 8)
might happen tho, she made a scene at the gym because I was talking to a friend of mine (ok she is hot tho)
I told her to fuck off and leave me alone for a few days, to make her think about the consequences of her jealousy 8)
-
You didn't see many guys "sprinting" at Auschwitz and those guys were peeled.
All diet.
You need to suffer through it.

LOL youll likely die the first time you try it but ive done it with pretty good results...
i wouldnt do it all the time but just when you dont feel like getting on the tread mill for 30 mins or so.
it gets hard to get yourself to do this form of cardio too b/c it can be pretty intense.
all in all not bad but like i said the first couple of times youre going to feel like youre going to die
-
I used to do it on the bike with good results (15 minutes: 10 seconds all out, 50 seconds idle peddling).
I like sprinting up hills too. The problem I have is I always go all out, absolutely to the max, and it's miserable. I have a hard time sticking to it because it's so brutal, and I usually would do it on my "off" days, but the cardio workout was harder than my weight lifting workouts!
Does anyone else have a similar problem? Do I just need to hold back a little, or am I just a bitch? How many days a week do you guys do this stuff?
-
I actually think that HITT is too intense and cuts too much into the ability to practice hard and productive weight training, since it trains the same energy system that weight training does. I think that one is much better off practicing AT (aerobic/anaerobic threshold) training for anywhere from 12 to 20 continous min

I'll stop it way before 3-4 weeks out tho, I should cut cardio at 8-10 weeks out if my plan goes well 8)

what exercise did you do?
next time you do it look in the mirror afterwards and see if you think your chest and shoulders look bigger...
mine always look bigger afterwards and it lasts for a while too.

Doing cardio in the gym is very very boring.
That's why I take my bicycle out and ride around for cardio. It's fun.

if you do cardio on something that has to be plugged into a electrical socket then you will never know the secret to being insanely shredded

What do you do to get so shredded?
A high protien liquid diet? Polevaulting? Power bottoming?

Cool. When I come to SoCal we should go to a bar or something. I'll buy you some drinks and see where it goes from there.

Short legs mean that it is easier to have a higher turnover. That Maurice Greene guy was pretty short but he was once the fastest man on the planet.

yes it does but it also means that you have shorter strides as well...
greene is supposedly 5'9", LOL im about 5'6"-5'7"

The 5 mph being a pretty good paced jog is beginning to make sense now. I've started doing this bare foot running thing and they say shorter strides are better for you anyway.
-
What do you do for cardio?
here are the types of cardio I do:
100m/400m/800m sprints (with or without weighted vest)
Hill sprints (with or without weighted vest)
Various types of Tabata Circuits where i'll use rounds consisting of either Kettlebells, Burpee Variation and/or Power movements (power snatches et al)
jump rope (i just got a Buddy Lee Aero speed rope that is AMAZING)
Harness sprints

whys that? better health wise?
I also cant ever seem to get into a groove...im decently fast for short distances but I can never seem to get into a rhythm when running

Good luck, I ran the orange county marathon in 2009. It's tough. The build up can be even worse than the actual run. If you train properly, especially the mental aspect, you'll be able to do it w/o walking if you want to. Either way, you'll learn a lot about yourself and you'll never forget the 15 minutes it takes to get out of bed the next morning.

http://www.popsci.com/entertainment-amp-gaming/article/2009-05/running-barefoot
Running up an incline helps me get into a rhythm. Most people who lift weights do not warm up enough to get into a rhythm. I usually start at 4.5 mph with an incline and keep it there for about five minutes before I can really feel a rhythm and increase the speed. If 5 mph is a good paced jog for you, I would start at about 3-3.5 with about a 3 incline for 3-4 minutes.

Rule of thumb when it comes to "High Intensity Cardio":
If it looks like something Stallone would have done in "Rocky IV" then you are probably doing the right exercise

I couldn't agree more. In an earlier post you mentioned burpees, those are top notch. A burpee-sprint combo does wonders.

burpees are topnotch
try this with your burpees
1) Chirpees- youtube search that- they are pretty cool
2) tabata style burpees.....unreal
3) find a short hill/stairs/ incline. Run up that hill, do a burpee, jog back down. Then, run up the hill again, do 2 burpees, jog back down. Run up the hill again, do 3 burpees, jog back down....you see the pattern. Go up to 8-12. good workout
-
Do you guys try to progress on your cardio, or do you just keep repeating the same workouts (or general volume/intensity level) over and over?
-
i agree, i do 20 secs all out and 10 secs rest for 8 rounds...

Tabata protocol. I do it twice a week.
-
intervals are good, just keep protein intake high to reduce muscle burning
also there are some really good motivating "boot camp style" circuit training group sessions around, if you can find a suitable one - especially if they are given by either track and field athletes or boxers.
-
stavios sprints are awesome. sprint as hard as you can possibly push, for about 20-50 yards. then slowly walk back and wait untill youve caught your breathe then do it again. keep repeating for 15-30mins. you wont be able to grow your legs as fast as you normally would but you wont lose any size, itll help shred you up, and when you cut back on the sprints your legs will grow faster than they were growing before.
-
high intensity cardio using weights is ultiamte workout
do it with 8 naked guy pals
for max protien intake
then get fake tits
wear pink silk skirt
-
Hey c, to answer your question, I will start running once the weather gets and stays warm enough. And my plan is to build up a decent level of conditioning and then just maintain it. I'll run 2 miles a pop, and I imagine my starting time will be about 16 min, but after awhile I will be able to cover 2 miles in roughly 13 min.
-

I already ran the Hartford ING marathon in 09 and did a half marathon in September. I'm running my first of 3 marathons in 3 weeks in Mass. so needless to say it's gonna be cold. So the next 2 weeks are going to be the roughest endurance wise. Doing 3 full and 4 half marathons this year. April I'm doing a half marathon in NYC. Oh don't remind me what my legs will feel like the next day, I dread just thinking about it.

Do you think being an ex-fattie gives you a cardio advantage? I see some huge people rushing around all day doing normal things and I always wonder how strong their cardiovascular systems must be. I guess after a while all that wear becomes too much though.

how would that give me an advantage? When I started my weight loss, I could only walk 20 minutes on the treadmill

If you're severely overweight and active, it's like you're doing everything a normal person does, but with a weight-vest. Makes sense that that would strengthen your cardio.

perhaps, but I tried to lift 150 pounds the other day and couldn't do it and I'm perplexed how the fuck I could walk with all that extra weight
