other than BB squats what is the training advantage to using a barbell of dumbells recruit so many more muscle fibers to stabilize? is the weight difference that much that training with a BB is really any better? discuss..

Have you tried front squating with kettlebells? Thats an alternative excersice if youre bored of regular squats.

I prefer training with barbells - more weight moved overall.

Both have their advantages. Barbell lifts allow you to go as heavy as you like 1-4rm, obviously they can still be used for higher rep range work as well. Doing a 1rm on say the DB press isn't that productive since you spend so much energy getting them into position. I love barbells on the big movements, presses, squats, deadlifts, rows. When I get into my assistance work I like to use db's because at that point my reps are higher and I am focusing on feeling the muscle work rather than just moving as much weight as I can.

theres no db or bb................. you use both, they lend themselves better to different movements

to a certain extent i guess. for example, most gyms dont have a hammer-curls barbell, so in order to do those youd have to use dumbells. but generally speaking, barbell>dumbell because you can use more weight.
